Basic database question
Hi there Yes, I know very little of ruby. I must take a crash course? Probabily. Anyway, I try to ask this here. I have a control: customer_controller. From here, I can do something like: @id = 1 @customer = Customer.find(id) Now @customer will contain all the fetched record for customer with id = 1. Great. From this controller I will render an html page. Somewhere the view will print test.

mantel test and NAs
Dear R users, I am having a problem performing the mantel test (both with functions mantel {vegan} and mantel.test {ape}) due to I believe the presence of NAs on my distance matrices, which look like e.g.: NA 1 2 1 2 3 NA 4 5 6 and 1 1 2 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 Would any of you have a solution for that? Thank you for much for your help! Marcia Rocha -- View this message in

Start preferred RGui
Dear R users, I have been having a problem since I installed the new versions of TinnR and R on my computer (1.19.4.7 and 2.6.0 respectively). I used to open R by the command "start preferred RGUI", on the "R" tab of TinnR's menu. But now, since I updated both softwares (which was necessary for some compatibility issue with Windows Vista), the path for my preferred RGui (

[Fwd: Re: Dead keyboard]
Later... Well, I found that when wine installed Windows, it did not install the "standard" fonts, like Ariel or Times. So when I copied them to the wine version of Windows, the "hunt for fonts" was reduced to two... and I know which they are, so eventually... Anyway, that problem cleared up. But one more thing. I now start the program from the terminal with two lines of

Connecting to multiple databases with multiple database users
Hi everyone, I was wondering what the common practice for handling multiple db users with fine grained privileges on multiple databases is. Against the often read guideline for rails users to keep with a single db as "more dbs don''t really make sense anyway", my opinion is that it DOES make sense to use more than one db schema for a number of reasons that I won''t

Dear R users, I am having a problem with the main title of a plot. I have written a function returning a plot and I would like that the main title of this plot shows actually the name of the dataset I have used. So, for instance: if my dataset is called Chl, I would like that my plot to be entitled : "Raw periodogram of Chl". I know the function "paste". I suppose I would be

Gluster deamon fails to start
As far as the peer status (and I now remember seeing this earlier) the issue appears to be that the host name for gsaov07 is attempting to resolve over the wrong network for gluster "ent...." and not "stor.local". So, it may be as simple as removing gsaov07 as a peer, then probing over the correct network. I'll follow up with the Engine log. Sent using OWA for iPhone

jpeg, dev.off() inside function
Dear all, I am trying to plot and save the plots. I have written a small function for that in which I use the jpeg and dev.off() commands. Strangely, when these commands are inside the function, they are not working anymore. For instance: dataframe<- data.frame (x=c(1:20),y=seq(0,9.5, length=20)) for (i in seq(0,15, length=4)){ setwd ("C:/R") jpeg(filename =
