acts_as_textiled
It''s nothing revolutionary. Just a plugin which lets you forget about
the whole Textile to HTML render process. Once you tell your model
which fields should acts_as_textiled (and as long as you''re using
form_for for your text entry) it Just Works. No DB changes or
whatnot.

RedirectHandler? mongrel_rewrite?
Hey guys.
I''ve been playing with RedirectHandler and it''s pretty neat, but I
question its usefulness.
At work we do the trendy "/javascripts/spy.1152734636.js"-style asset
includes rather than the default Rails style of "/javascripts/spy.js?
1152734636". This is no problem with mod_rewrite as we run the basic
Apache => Pen => Mongrel setup.

+ migrations in camping
Camping apps are supposed to be little independent apps, often contained in a
single file, which create the database tables and manage them without hassle.
These days it''s common to see in a Camping app:
module Tepee::Models
def self.schema(&block)
@@schema = block if block_given?
@@schema
end
end
Tepee::Models.schema do
create_table :tepee_pages,

emdash vs <del>
Hey guys. Is this a bug or what?
>> RedCloth.new("First part -- middle part -- end part.").to_html
=> "<p>First part <del>- middle part -</del> end part.</p>"
But http://textism.com/tools/textile/index.php says the output should
be:
<p>First part—middle part—end part.</p>
Thing is, I *want*

Regroup and create new dataframe
Hello folks,
I have a big project to work on and the dataset is classified so I am just
going to use my own example so everyone can understand what I am targeting.
Let's take Target as an example: We consider three brands of tape: Target
brand, 3M and Avery. The original data frame has 4 columns: Year of Record,
Product_Name(which contains three brands of tape), Sales, and Region. I
want to

Stripping out textile markup
Hi,
I have several hundred pages of text, all carefully marked up with
textile, which I use redcloth to convert to html for display. Now I
find I need all these pages to alternatively output plain text - ie.
A-Za-z0-9 and simple punctuation only. Any suggestions on the best
way to do this? My only thought is to let redcloth do its stuff, and
then strip out the html tags - but it feels wrong.

[PATCH] configurator: update some migration examples
We now give an example of how a before_fork hook can be used
to incrementally migrate off the old code base without hitting
a thundering herd (especially in the "preload_app false") case.
Also comment on the per-worker listen usage in the RDoc, not
just a hidden comment.

I just pushed this out earlier, this example was inspired by Chris
Wanstrath''s before_fork hook but

Time To Pick the Mongrel BUGS Mascot!
Bradley Taylor shot me this *goldmine* of ugly ugly ugly dogs:
http://www.sonoma-marinfair.org/uglydogvote.shtml
I *have* to use one of these for the Mongrel BUGS Mascot. He''ll go on
our bug list page and replace the little beetles on the left.
Pick the dog you think best represents a lovable but defective pooch and
reply to this with your +1.
Let the voting begin!

[BTS] Dr Nic''s Magic Models - Class creation
For anyone interesting in some meta-programming ideas, I''ve written up a
short explanation about the Class Creation feature of Dr Nic''s Magic
Models.
I know most forum posts start with "How do I..." but thought it might be
interesting reading for the ppl who answer the forum posts that start
with "How do I..." :)

dr ()
Hi all--
A quick question about the dr () function. I am using this function to
reduce the dimensions of a data set I have that involves 14 predictor
variables and one predictant or response. The goal is to discover which
variables play the most important role in determining the response and,
thus, to reduce the variables. I would like to use the sliced inverse
regression method (SIR) within

DR hot/warm spare node patterns / anti-patterns?
With our without puppet. We are looking at setting up DR nodes with
some draft ideas. We use puppet against a git repository (with ppg)
instead of against a puppet server. Nodes are actually VMs.
Configuration ideas:
- a filesystem-level flag that indicates that the node is running as
standby spare, to use as conditional in bash/python scripts as well as
in puppet
- some services

DR Solutions
Hi
Wondering if there are known tools out there for doing block level
replication of linux systems? There is a product for windows called
Double Take that seems quite good but doe not work with Linux. Anyone know?
thanks

[OT] DR
I remember a thread many months ago where someone asked about a disaster
recovery template or guide and several people on this list linked some
really good content. I can't seem to find that thread now and neglected
to make note of the links but I do recall that some of the guides came
from a site that had many other "industry best practices" type guides.
Any insight here or do you

Samba. DR-DOS and Terabytes...
Hi,
We have just built a server with a terabyte of storage for a powerquest
deploycenter
file server, the deploycenter boot disks start Caldera DR-DOS 7.02 for
the actual
deploycenter software to run under. We run Linux 7.3 with the samba that
ships with
that version (sorry, I can't remember off hand and don't have access to
a linux box
right now)
The problem I have is that the

re| Dr Ward on List protocol
"Andrew C. Ward" <acward at uqconnect.net.au> :

Oh, by gosh, by golly.
I don't think an occasional dose of 'real life', via a jab from the
Professor, will cause any lasting harm

Is package "dr" appropriate for reducing the dimensionality of molecules conformational space ?
I anticipate lacking of prior experience with dimensionality reduction problems.
Some scientists concerned with drug discovery performed several steered Molecular Dynamics simulations of the
alanine-dipeptide molecule dragged by a radial force from an equilibrium conformation to another different equilibrium conformation.
They sampled at regular intervals 7 dihedral angles, 5 bending angles, and

Geo replication procedure for DR
Hello,
I was reading the geo replication documentation here:
https://docs.gluster.org/en/main/Administrator-Guide/Geo-Replication/
and I was wondering how it works when in case of disaster recovery when the primary cluster is down and the the secondary site with the volume needs to be used?
What is the procedure here to make the secondary volume on the secondary site available for read/write?
