SCSI write retry errors on ZIL SSD drives...
I posted a thread on this once long ago[1] -- but we''re still fighting with this problem and I wanted to throw it out here again. All of our hardware is from Silicon Mechanics (SuperMicro chassis and motherboards). Up until now, all of the hardware has had a single 24-disk expander / backplane -- but we recently got one of the new SC847-based models with 24 disks up front and 12 in the

Psych can't load LaTeX entities file
Hi there, I wanted to use RedCloth with my RubyOnRails 3 application, but it seems that RoR uses 1.9.2''s Psych by default as the YAML parser if available, and Psych fails to load the LaTeX entities file: ==================================================================== #ruby -v: ruby 1.9.2p136 (2010-12-25 revision 30365) [x86_64-linux] irb(main):001:0> Dir.pwd =>

TrueCrypt WD External Drive
I have a WD Elements 2TB USB hard drive. I would like to encrypt the whole drive with TrueCrypt on my CentOS box. Could someone direct me to a tutorial on how to do this? Ideally, I would also like to access it with my WinXP box, but this part is optional. Thanks for your help. Mike.

Wavethresh + accessC > Error: wd.structure has no class
Hi, Whenever I issue this commands (as in the help for the threshold function), # # Do a 1D decomposition # tdecomp <- wd(test.data) # # Threshold it # tdecomp.thresh <- threshold(tdecomp) # # Reconstruct from the thresholded coefficients # trecons <- wr(tdecomp.thresh) # #

issues with the WD
ood morning, I am reaching out to discus an issue I am having with setting a working directing. I have tried github, stack overload, setwd, getwd, all to no avail. I am used to setting a working directory in 3.1.1 and have yet to get 3.4.1 to work properly. Let me know if there is anyone who I can talk to about this. Thank you so much, My best, Peter Wight, MPA [[alternative HTML version

ASUS P5GC-MX/1333+ WD SATA
Hi, I'm puzzled by an ASUS P5GC-MX/1333 with a WD320AAJS disk. My 5.2 DVD refused to see the hard disk. As the CD happened to have a bad MD5 sum, I assumed this was due to a bad burnt image. Backed off to 5.1. Installation of 5.1 to /dev/sda went OK, then I upgraded by yum to 5.2. But, at the next boot, the new kernel can't see the disk. Only when BIOS IDE Setup is "compatible"

Speed problem Ubuntu < WD TV Live
Dear all, I have experiencing some speed issues recently when moving files using Samba between a linux box (Kubuntu 10.10) and a media player called WD TV Live. Both are wired to a 100 Mb network, together with a Windows 7 box. In principle I believe is not a hardware issue. When I move files between the WD TV Live and the Windows box I get speeds of around 8 MB/s. Between Kubuntu and WDTV I get

Rsync will not work with WD network drive!
Hi. I have an Western Digital network drive My Book World Edition 500GB.. I have installed cwrsync and try to sync a folder on my local machine(Windows Vista) to my my external network drive ( in the same LAN). The strange thing is that rsync copies folders and files, but the files seems to be HIDDEN at the destination. I have tried several versions of rsync and cygwin, and also several options on

hard drive question - WD red
I see a really good price, and better for quantity, for 3TB drives. Now, I've been down on WD for a couple of years, since I found that they'd protected certain h/d parms from being changed (like TLER). The ones I'm looking at are the Red, which seems to be a new color (at least to me), and one technical review I've read says that they're intended for NAS, etc, and you can

WD RE4-GP Dropped From Raid
Hi All, I have a WD RE4-GP which dropped an Adaptec 51645 RAID controller. I ran a smartctl short test on the drive and it failed with a read error. So I ran the Western Digital's own diagnostic software (DLGDIAG), both the short and extended test on the drive and it passed with no errors. So I ran the smartctl short test again and again it failed. I then ran smartctl long test and that
