segmentation fault
greetings,
running Centos 4.1 i386 on a poweredge 1800, will be trying x86_64
tomorrow since apparently the processors are EM64. anyhow, I'm having
issues with this unit producing segmentation faults on practically
everything. this is not an issue just with Centos 4.x, but also RHEL
3. so I resorted to RH9, but had other issues with hardware drivers.
Today, I installed OS and

Segmentation Fault on reload (gdb output included)
I keep getting segmentation faults when I do a reload.
Here are the core file outputs from gdb:

output)

Core was generated by `asterisk'.
Program terminated with signal 11, Segmentation fault.

I have no idea what that means, but if somebody could

segmentation fault
I'm experiencing segmentation faults from time to time
that abruptely end my R sesion. In such cases, is there
any way to recover the work done? (i.e., is there
any temporal file that I could use?)
Thanks

If you can tell me how to update to 1.9.10, I''d be happy to run
this and a few other tests. Also, if I should be posting bugs
somewhere else, please let me know.

Segmentation fault in pigeonhole lib-sieve
The sieve plugin for Thundirbird likes to rapidly compile work in
progress sieve scripts to continually give feedback on any errors in the
script. This can trigger segmentation faults in lib-sieve with certain
pathologically incomplete sieve scripts. One example:
#0 tag_comparator_validate (valdtr=0x7f291aa713a0, arg=0x7fff5c3cfa58,
cmd=0x7f291aa69360) at sieve-comparators.c:143

Ferret - Segmentation fault
Hi,
I tried to use the stem_filter and consistently get segmentation
faults when creating the index. I use ferret 0.11.3. Is there any
cure?
Thanks,
Stefan

Segmentation fault (Debian slink+libc6 2.1)
Hi,
I've just upgraded my debian machine to the 2.1 libc6 libraries, and I
started getting segmentation faults with R. I tried re-compiling and got
the same problem. I checked with the dependencies for the binary package,
and I have all the required libraries.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Robert.

chan_oh323.c Segmentation fault during Openphone/Gnomemeeting connect during module loading...
My apologies if this question has been answered previously. However, I
found that it was nearly impossible to search and find since anything
can cause a segmentation fault.
Problem. When Asterisk is booting up the h323 modules and a client
tries to connect before Asterisk/h323 is finished booting, the program
seg faults out and doesn't load. I thought about putting this into the

Esword just started crashing with segmentation fault
Hi all,
Been using Esword for months on a self-compiled wine (the self-compilation was for WC3 hosting, but that's another story). Just today I tried to start it up as usual and it flashed the main window and crashed. Running the command from the terminal just gives me the cryptic 'segmentation fault' error.
I've tried upgrading Wine to 1.15 and 1.16 both, as well as a downgrade

RJS Templates for Rails
I''m happy to announce the availability of RJS Templates for Rails
published by O''Reilly.
The book covers all aspects and features of RJS that are included in
Rails 1.1. It also walks through a few examples, debugging with
FireBug, and finishes off with some reference material.
The book is 56 pages and is available in PDF format. I''m really happy

Reciprocal Mill's Ratio
I believe that this may be more appropriate here in r-devel than in r-help.
The normal hazard function, or reciprocal Mill's Ratio, may be obtained
in R as dnorm(z)/(1 - pnorm(z)) or, better, as dnorm(z)/pnorm(-z) for
small values of z. The latter formula breaks dowm numerically for me
(running R 2.4.1 under Windows XP 5.1 SP 2) for values of z near 37.4
or greater.
Looking at the pnorm

RJS support "toggle" effect?
Does RJS inherently support the Element.toggle effect? I haven''t been
able to call it the way you call "appear", "fade", etc...

Demo in rails2.pdf of add_price migration, PostgreSQL 8.1.4
People,
I''m looking at the migrate example on p 74 of the rails2.pdf
It''s a simple example of using a migration to add a column to
the products table.
Here is a copy of the migration file named 002_add_price.rb
after I generated and then edited it:
class AddPrice < ActiveRecord::Migration
def self.up
add_column :products, :price, :decimal, :precision => 8, :scale

R vs. Stata
I have read some very good reviews comparing R (or Splus) to SAS. Does
anyone know if there are any reviews comparing R (or Splus) to Stata? I
am trying to get others to try R in my department, and I have never used
Stata.
