Camping and DBI
Hi,
I''ve been playing around with using DBI instead of ActiveRecord ''cause
I just love to beat myself up! ;) Is this an okay way to do this, or
is there any other more creative ways?
require ''dbi''
module MyApp:Models
class DB
def self.dbh
DBI.connect(''DBI:Mysql:dbname'', ''username'',

setting up the SQLite database
I know this isn''t Python, but I''d like to get a view on the ''one
obvious'' way to set up an SQLite (or other) database and its location
per-app. I''ve got a bit lost with the Camping 2 changes and various
code snippets I have kicking around.

intro
Hi !!!
I''ve just seen this message on
http://redhanded.hobix.com/inspect/theCampingServer.html
I''d really like to see distributions offer a package which would allow
simple setup of TheCampingServer, just as you see with PHP. If you''re
interested in seeing this happen for the upcoming Camping 1.5 release,

Cannot force WeBRICK into submission (UTF-8)
Hello everyone!
Pushing my new rails project I stumbled upon some weird problem.
I cannot force WeBRICK to show me my MySQL records in UTF-8. All I
recieve into the object (instead of russian letters) are question marks
(a la ?????? style). I am running MySQL 4.1 (the one with switchable
charsets) and a binary Ruby extension for it, all on OSX.
To me it looks like MySQL never recieves what I

Dropping Root
Hello Campers
I''m not sure this is the right list to ask but:
I''m using the junebug wiki (which is written in camping) for my own personal wiki. I''d like it to behave as a proper daemon, so it will start up at boot, get stopped properly at shutdown, keep a pid file in /var/run etc.
This requires a little messing with the wiki script junebug makes in the wiki

Problems Deploying a Camping app on TxD
So I''ve been trying all day to get a small camping app I wrote up on
Textdrive to no avail.
Right now I''m getting a 500 error when I go to the site, and it spits this
out (from lightty after i restart it and make a request to the app):

Rendering with erb
Hi, I thought it would be fun to try to write a render method that
uses erb for rending. I''m not much of a programmer, but I still like
to try:
module Test
require ''erb''
def render(m)
ERB.new(IO.read("templates/layout.html")).result(binding) do
ERB.new(IO.read("templates/#{m}.html")).result(binding)
end
end
end

Mounting an app as ''/'' under Apache?
Hello everyone, I have a site with a collection of camping apps. I''m trying
to force one of them, blog.rb, to run as the index (''/'').
I think that I understand the RDoc as stating that I can execute the
following to make that happen:
Camping::FastCGI.serve File.expand_path(current), Blog
But, when doing so, I recieve the following error:

odbcConnectAccess function
HI:
Is it possible to use the RODBC package within MS Access. I have been using from R but was just wondering if it could be used along with R(D)COM. Something like this:
Dim dbs As DAO.Database
Dim rst As DAO.Recordset
Dim myApp As StatConnector
Set myApp = New StatConnector
myApp.GetErrorText
myApp.Init "R"
myApp.EvaluateNoReturn "library(RODBC)"
myApp.EvaluateNoReturn

Rootless configuration
I'm trying to setup a rootless configuration so I can better manage the
e-mail that comes to the mailbox of a unix account I have. I've
successfully compiled Dovecot and followed the instructions for a
rootless configuration, tweaking my config until Dovecot returns no
errors. However I've got to a stage where upon running
~/..../sbin/dovecot it just quits with no server running and

Okay, I have tested mounting several of my apps under Lighttpd and Apache,
both running FastCGI. I''m going to explain the configuration, but first:
update.

samba-tool using domain users
!!! Regards
For example, I tried the following command:
samba-tool user create jhon p at assword -U mike
Then, the user is created without authenticate the user mike
Another command that I need execute with authentication is "samba-tool fsmo transfer".
That's all the point of an AD domain : )
If any user could make change into AD database, the product would not be
too much secure.

RODBC in RAqua
I've been trying to get RODBC working in RAqua. For my database,
let's call it "mydb", when I enter
odbcConnect("mydb")
or
odbcConnect("mydb", uid="postgres", pwd="secret"),
RAqua thinks for about 10 seconds, then crashes.
mydb is a PostgreSQL 7.4.2 database running on my machine (Mac OS X
10.3.3). I am using the pgsqlodbc 7.2.5 driver

importing data to SQLite database with sqldf
Hi all,
I am attempting to learn SQL through sqldf...
One task I am particularly interested in is merging separate
(presumably large) files into a single table without loading these
files into R as an intermediate step (by loading them into SQLite and
merging them there).
Taking a step back, I've considered these alternatives:
1) I know if I use straight SQLite commands I might use the

Problem with FAME
Dear All,
I wonder whether anyone has an experience with FAME package written by Jeff Hallman. All my attempts to send him the following problem report did not succeed (the mail system says that my e-mail could not be delivered), so I turn for help to this list.
I tried to use your FAME package written for R, but somehow I cannot get it working. I am using Windows XP and the newest R

Camping Apache2 & FCGI - Internal Use
Hey Folks,
I''m deploying a camping app on an internal Apache2 + FastCGI server at my
office. Of course, on my Mac it works great, but I can''t get things to work
with Apache and FCGI. I''ve followed the directions on why''s page
documenting how to do this, but I''m getting the following error in my Apache

FastCGI without ScriptAlias
Hi,
I made some experiments with the sample blog application, my index.fcgi
file contains the following:
require ''camping/fastcgi''
Camping::Models::Base.establish_connection(
:adapter => ''sqlite3'',
:database => ''database/camping.db''
)
Camping::FastCGI.serve(''blog.rb'')
Without ScriptAlias the application works fine,

+ camping 1.4.123
And now:
gem install camping --source code.whytheluckystiff.net
I hope this will be the last development release before 1.5.
* ActiveRecord no longer required or installed.
* If you refer to Models::Base, however, ActiveRecord will be loaded
with autoload. (see lib/camping/db.rb)
* new Camping::FastCGI.serve which will serve a whole directory of apps
(see TheCampingServer[1])
*
