Greetings, I''m in the throws of deploying an app on site5, and I''m getting strange errors. I think I might need to understand how error_messages_for works. how to display validation error messages for multiple record form
I am trying to figure out how to display model validation error messages for a multiple record form. My form is for setting up new accounts and collects information for two models - Accounts and Users. My create method collects the parameters from the form and adds them to a Account object and a User object then runs account.valid? and user.valid?. If it''s valid it updates the models

Custom validation error messages.
Hi all, I have a few questions regarding the error messages which are produced by default. For example, if I have "validates_uniqueness_of" I may get an error message "Surname has already been taken'' What if I want a custom message without prefixing the attribute name? I''ve come across a plugin which allows me to do this: validates_uniqueness_of :name, :message

prototype.js: enumerable mixin for hash broken
Hello everyone. I am not sure if this is the right place to post, please redirect me if there is a mailinglist more specifically dealing with prototype.js. After playing around with the very inspiring prototype library I have found a rather annoying thing, that makes the usefulness of the Enumerable mixin for Hashes questionable, if I am not totally wrong (again :-). Here an example:

Multiple Model Validation
Hey All ! I have a form which contains two models. I would like both models to be validated, but have their validations aggregated on the page. If I do: <%= error_messages_for(:model1) %> <%= error_messages_for(:model2) %> It puts two big validation blocks on the page. I would like all the errors from both models, but only in one validation box. Is this possible ? All my attempts

ActiveRecord validation messages not I18N-friendly and enforces grammar
ActiveRecord validation messages are currently not I18N-friendly. Specifically, I''m referring to the fact that it enforces a certain grammar, namely the beginning of the message must consist of the field name. For example: validates_presence_of :name, :message => "can''t be blank." ...generates the message "Name can''t be blank". This grammar

Field names in validators
Hi! Is there a (simple) way to use alternative field names in validation messages? For example, if I have a validator like this one: validates_presence_of :email how can I make it print a message like "E-Mail Address can''t be blank" instead of "Email can''t be blank"? I can override the "can''t be blank" part by using the :message

subclassing vs mixins, which one should be used?
Hey all, I have two models in my rails project that share a lot of traits. They each have the same 4 properties, and now I need to add 2-3 methods to each one that will be the same. In the spirit of DRY I am looking for a solution to write these methods only once. Both of these models already inherit from ActiveRecord . . . and I didn''t know if it was safe to just "whip up" a

Unable to display errors for multiple records
Hi, I''m trying to save multiple records of the same model in one go. Which is no problem at all. Problem starts when I want to introduce error handling. The problem is that no record should be saved when one of the records contains an error. I tried it as follows: session[:infos].each do |info| @quest.name = info["name"] unless @quest.valid? @errors_found = true
