drag and drop problem
I am working on a resource planning problem. I like to use a nice drag
and drop interface for that. E.g. have a box of persons and a box of
projects, now I would like to assign a persom to project by dragging it
from the available resources box to a recieving project box.
I have studied the amazing drag and drop shopping card code listed here

drag & drop list needs refreshing
Hello guys, I''m a scriptaculous newbie (I started working with it only
yesterday) and I have already the first problem.
I''m trying to implement a drag & drop list (fallowing the shopping
cart example http://demo.script.aculo.us/shop) and I''m almost done
but after dropping an item on the target div I need to refresh the
page to see that the item has been moved.

examples of drag n drop
Sorry if this sounds cynical, ( i do love script.aculo.us scripts ) ,
but I am wondering if people know of some good real world
examples of uses of drag n drop and sortable lists.
such a cute script will likely be *ab*used as much as it is used.
obviously the point here is to use script.aculo.us to improve
the user interface rather than just have some k00l eFX.
e.g. the drag n drop instantly

multiple items drag and drop
Does anyone know how I can create something that would enable me to drag & drop multiple items?
Example: In an email application (like outlook web access) I want to select multiple mails and move them to a folder.
Is it possible to do it with this library?
The shopping cart example doesn''t let you select the other div (image) using the control key...
Any help would be greatly

Can I use drag-and-drop for this?
I want to be able to drag an image somewhere in the browser, and then
call an action based on where it''s dropped. Actually I''d probably
want to call the same action regardless, but send it particular
parameters based on where it dropped. I''ve seen the sortable list
demos, but I''m wondering if I can do something more flexible like
that. Any ideas?

Pb : keep the coordinates after drag and drop
Hi,
I''m coding a shopping cart using your effects library.
There are 2 parts in my page. On the left the list of my products and on the right the shopping cart.
I can sort dynamically my products (by price, title, etc...) . I have a problem when I do a sort, and I want to drag a product. My system keep the initial position of each product. The products moves correctly after the

Bug in shop demo
http://script.aculo.us/demos/shop if you drag an item from the product
list straight to the droppable area to remove an item from the cart,
it''ll still add it to the cart.

Need volunteers for new Rails based shopping cart
We''re currently looking for volunteers on the new RailsCart[1]
project. The idea is to build something relatively simple with all of
the features that most open source shopping carts seem to be missing.
We''ll be using ActiveMerchant for all of our payment gateway needs.
We''re not trying to build the ultimate shopping cart. This is
designed for Rails developers who need

Shopping Cart: SKU and Product Confusion
Hi there,
I''m at a loss...
I was on the #ROR channel last night and spoke to a really helpful person
(Defiler) who gave me some direction on building a shopping cart.
Unfortunately, I wasn''t able to successfully get to where I need to go. This
is the predicament I am currently finding myself in:
I''m building a shopping cart for a client''s new website. They

Passing quantity in a shopping cart
I am using this line on my index.rhtml page to capture the quantity
required of a particular item for a basic shopping cart app:
<%= text_field ''line_item'', ''quantity'', {:size=>3} %> </td>
but my next screen (a cart screen) doesn''t reflect what was entered in
that text field when the item is added to the cart. That is,

Draggables - without moving the original element
I''m needing to implement some drag and drop in a way that leaves the
clicked element where it is, and carries a new element over to my
Droppable. Its analogous to a shopping cart: I want to drag a
representation of an item into my cart, but leave the original item
intact in the main product list. Does anyone have any tips on how to
approach this? Its seems to use

Drag/Drop and KeyPress
Hi!
is it possible to make a drag dependent on a KeyPress event? I couldn''t
find any information on that on the script.aculo.us website.
My scenario is the following:
I have a tree with several nodes (like windows explorer). Right now i
use Drag & Drop to move a node below a new parent.
Now i want to implement a copy mechanism which allows the user to copy a
node through Drag

Drag and drop tutorials/examples?
Just finished our first proper rails app and I''m trying to add some AJAX
effects for the first time. I''ve got Rails Recipes and the Rails
Cookbook, none of their examples seem to be a good fit with what I''m
trying to achieve. Which is...
I have 2 lists of users. One for assigned users, one for unassigned
users. I want to be able to drag users between the lists to

The rails way to develop a multi product type shopping cart
Hi,
I''m developing an application which has to manage many types of products.
But I can''t think what the best approach in rails is on how to implement
them. Here is a selection of some of the products (with some data types)
that the software will have to manage:

Make - String
Model - String
Wattage - Integer
Price - Decimal

Weird shopping cart behaviour!
Dear all,
I have a general form (which I generate via form_tag) for a
''subscription''.
Inside this form the user can add ''elements'' to his subscription. I do
this with an an additional Ajax form:
<% form_remote_tag :url => { :action => :add_to_cart, :id => element }
do%>
<%= submit_tag "Add" %>
<% end %>
Every time the

Railscast 75, Observe_field and Shopping Cart
Hi all,
I have the shopping cart page where a user can add items dynamically
through ajax as explained in Railscast episode 75. I am using
observe_field to observe the ''quantity'' and ''cost'' fields to update
the total field for each item.
This does not work however, for records that are added through the
Ajax. How can i name the fields and observe them as i have

Drag and Drop Sortable Tree
I''ve gone through Chad Fowler''s recipe for creating a drag and drop sortable
list, and have been trying to extend this to a sortable tree. Has anyone
come up with or seen code which allows drag and drop sorting (altering the
position and parent_id variables of the relevant objects) but for data in a
nested tree rather than a list form?

RE: Rails-spinoffs Digest, Vol 2, Issue 22
Hi Jonah,
I support usability. For a great book on it, read Jakob Nielsen''s "Designing
Web Usability: The Practice of Simplicity" and, for a great general book on
usability, try "The Design of Everyday Things."
You''re right.
Drag ''n drop is not the best tool for many things. Unless something offers a
50%+ advantage over an existing method of doing
