Multiple "has" in ActiveRecord
Please excuse a newbie question, but I couldn''t find anything by searching the archives. What I want to know is how to have multiple references to the same class/table within a class. For example, let''s say I have a table called People: create table people ( id serial8 primary key ,name); which just holds a list of the people in the database. Then I have another

Workflow + Rails
Is there any project or solution for an easy integration of a WFE / WfMS into rails? I''m quite new to this topic, but I probably need a small subset of workflow patterns (or whatever the correct term is) only. Any pointers are welcome. -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

no one cares about i18n (was [OT]: Asking questions on this list)
Do most others in the community agree with this statement? It seems to me that i18n is: 1. Actually important to many people 2. Not really the difficult to implement in concept 3. Something that people like to point out about Rails to say it''s not ready foir "Enterprise" It seems to be that a big part of Rails is encouraging people to do things the "Right Way",

Any news on the rSpec books?
I admit it, when it comes to rSpec, I''m lazy. I''ve made a few feeble attempts to use it, but for once I''m waiting for a book-length treatment. At least two books were announced, I think. Can anyone in the know please report on their progress? Thanks Michael -- Michael Schuerig mailto:michael at schuerig.de http://www.schuerig.de/michael/

Dynamic Labels in Forms
Hi, I am pretty new to Ruby-on-Rails, but I am trying to be able to have html labels in the HTML forms dynamic. I would like to store label values in a database so that the client may change them on the fly, instead of having them hardcoded in the html form. For example I would like the client to be able to change the html label: Sex to Gender, if and when required. I do not want to have to

RJS page.replace(_html) problems
For some time now I try to get my code working. This Monday I switched to RJS (first with 1.0 + plugin) and yesterday to Edge Rails, so I guess I''ve been using the most recent version. I have a div with id="detail" which I want to update with a partial. If I''m using page.replace_html the content will be replaced with text, i.e. the javascript won''t become

Search multiple models
Hello, Lets say you have a few models like Post, Article, Wiki, Comment, And you want to use ferret to search all of them at once. How would I set up the latest acts_as_ferret to accomplish this? And what would be fastest for searches? 1 index for all models, or have an index per model? Thank you -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Active Record, Migration, and Translation
Hi, I think the columns and table in migration should be able to have an optional "display_name" set manually. Something like: create_table :people, {display_name => "Personne"} do |t| t.column :first_name :string, :display_name => "Prénom". end Let me explain my point of view: Rails is a framework made to write programs in English. You see it when you

Which internationalization plugin to choose?
Hi, I need to create rather simple page (gallery + news), but it has to be in 3 different languages (polish, english, german). Which plugin do you recommend? How to store translated data in the database - in a single table with separate field for every language or in separate table for every language? -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Internationalisation/Internationalization
Good Morning, I'm working with a queue at the moment and I having trouble with my digits. Australia is my example. On the tiki it says for international digits, I can dump them in the "digits/au" directory. I tried that -- just because, I also made a copy in "au/digits". When the queue announces the position I it says: -- Started music on hold, class

What's in a number? say.c internationalization!
http://bugs.digium.com/bug_view_page.php?bug_id=0001429 We need to architect a general structure for saying numbers in voices. Say.c is broken as it is now and it needs to be changed. If we work quickly, this can be sorted out and fixed to 1.1, if not before that. There's a number of separate patches in bugs that fixes one language per patch, but no general structure. I would be perfectly

Psssst. The US is asleep - let's talk internationalization !!!
http://bugs.digium.com/bug_view_page.php?bug_id=0001485 After spending a lot of time saying numbers and dates, the Asterisk I18N project now targets voicemail. The voicemail prompts are very much based on english language syntax, which works for some languages and doesn't work for a lot of languages.
