TentSteak 0.2.0
The second release of TentSteak is out and available as a gem on rubyforge ("gem install tent_steak"). This version introduces a handful of new form helpers, a couple method renames, editable HTML tables, and some application bootstrappers for kickstarting Camping and initializing ActiveRecord. It''s still in active development, and I''d very much appreciate

TentSteak First Release
Hey all, I just pushed out the inaugural release of TentSteak 0.1.0, a set of Camping/Markaby helpers to minimize the busywork in your views (or was that the "viewwork in your busies"?). It includes lotsa HTML form and table helpers, plus a little bootstrapper to make it easy to load in shared helper modules of your own. Please check it out and let me know what you think.

load_missing_constant: Expected to define class in module
Hi I''m having some weird issues with Rails 3 and classes defined in modules. To be more precise I''ve created several files that define classes in the AppBase module like: module AppBase class BackendMenu [content omitted] end end When a page tries to use the BackendMenu class like AppBase::BackendMenu I get an error saying "Expected backend_menu.rb to define

Module Madness
I''m wanted to make a "global" module that I could include in my application for some shared code between them. I''ve been making several camping apps and wanted them all to share a helper/partial that contained the navigation. I ran into a lot of difficulty when trying to include it, the primary problem being "methodUndefined" errors. I did finally get it to

unicorn_rails cleanup (possible fix for Rails3) pushed
Hi all, I''ve pushed the following patch out go git://git.bogomips.org/unicorn along with a few other Rails-related test updates. This is more of a shotgun fix (but less code is better :) since I haven''t been able to reproduce the brokeness people have been seeing with "unicorn_rails" and Rails 3 betas. Even though "unicorn" works perfectly well for Rails3,

Apache Passenger and Reloader
Hi Guys, I just started playing with camping and so far it''s pretty awesomo. After much messing around I was finally able to get Apache Passenger, Camping and ActiveRecord to PostgreSQL working. One thing I was wondering about, can I use reloader with Apache Passenger? Always having to touch/rm a tmp/restart.txt to see changes or reloading apache altogether is kinda a pain and I was

Reloading ??
All, So I got passed my initial hurdles with merb 0.4. And all seems to work very nicely. Thank you all for your help ! One thing though, why should I have to bounce the merb server when I change my controller or associated classes ? Am I missing something ? I am having flash back to my java days where I now have to reflect on what changed and bounce the server accordingly...

Pimpin'' a patch: moving the bin/camping logic to classes
Hello, Zimbatm suggested the best way to push a patch into camping was to take my case to the people. So here it is. If you want to jump straight to the patch: http://code.whytheluckystiff.net/camping/ticket/117 Goal: Move the logic in the camping command line launcher into several classes Why? unexpected return (LocalJumpError) only when executing this code within autoloaded classes?
Posted on stackoverflow but no traction yet: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/12942505/why-does-using-set-trace-func-work-in-some-places-but-cause-unexpected-return-l The following is a generified part of the code in a gem I''m working on: module SomeModule class << self attr_accessor :procedure def log_events(*args) args.flatten!

autolog: set_trace_func without all the typing
If it helps anyone developing Rails, apps, or gems, I wrote a shortcut for set_trace_func, so next time you want to just add a line before and after some function you are trying to debug you can have Ruby temporarily output every line, method, etc. executed. Also, it lets you define the format, use other loggers, etc. via a proc/lambda define, since you might not like the default format.

Mounting an app as ''/'' under Apache?
Hello everyone, I have a site with a collection of camping apps. I''m trying to force one of them, blog.rb, to run as the index (''/''). I think that I understand the RDoc as stating that I can execute the following to make that happen: Camping::FastCGI.serve File.expand_path(current), Blog But, when doing so, I recieve the following error: Camping

active_model_serializers, more than one level deep of associations, specifying serializers per association
I am assuming this an appropriate place to discuss this, but if it isn''t my apologies- just let me know. Just a Rails 4-ish thing. Am attempting to pull AMS (active_model_serializers), strong_parameters, and the "permitter" strategy that Adam Hawkins is using: http://broadcastingadam.com/2012/07/parameter_authorization_in_rails_apis/ Code so far is here (in the
