:class in link_to_remote?
Is there a way to set the class of a link in link_to_remote? I tried adding :class => "this_damn_class" after the :url hash and it didn''t work. I went ahead and did it manually using remote_function, i.e. <a class="this_damn_class" href="#" onclick="<%= remote_function ..., :url => {...} %>">My Link</a> -- Posted via

Using an image button for "link_to_remote"
All, I want to do an AJAX request using a custom image button. I currently have this as a standard button action using "button_to". What I need is the button equivalent of "link_to_remote". Is there a helper that I can use, or do I need to build it by hand? I see button_to_function(), but that sets me up to call a Javascript function, not post to a Rails action. Or can

No action from AJAX link_to_remote...
AJAX & Ruby & Rails newbie here. I''ve got a link to remote that I believe should be working, but doesn''t seem in fact to do *anything*. I''m looking at the webrick log, since the Book says I should be seeing some hot POST action in there, but there''s literally no change when I click on the JS link. From looking at the source that''s

Differences between assert_tag and assert_select
Hi all, I can't seem to make assert_select work for the more complex cases for me. Here's a sample: # View <%= link_to_remote 'Add new', :url => new_phone_url, :submit => 'phones_head' %> # Generated code: <a href="#" onclick="new Ajax.Request('http://test.host/admin/parties/phone/new', {asynchronous:true, evalScripts:true,

Is there a Rails helper similar to link_to_remote but for a form check box instead of a link?
I''m working on a couple of user input forms -- one data entry, one search -- where I''d like to start off by displaying only top-level categories. Then, if a user checked one of the top-level categories, all the child categories would show for that top-level one. (Displaying all the child categories for every parent would be a bit overwhelming, it''s a large list.) I can

AJAX effects make browser jump to top of page
I''ve been having this really annoying issue with any visual effect that I use in Rails. Say, for instance, that I have an Element.show or Element.hide link to expose a hidden div. Well, the effects work great, but if they are located far enough down on the page to necessitate scrolling, the effect makes the browser jump to the top of the page. This is basically the source output that

RJS Templates not conducting callbacks
I''ve run across a weird problem with RJS that I''m trying to figure out: I have an application that was running 0.13.1 that I recently upgraded to Rails 1.0. I wanted to use RJS templates, so I installed the plugin and updated my prototype javascript file via ''rake update_prototype.'' I attempted to test the templates out via the following code, but the AJAX

whatever happend to unobtrusive javascript in Rails ?
Don''t get me wrong, JavaScript/Ajax helpers in Rails are a huge timesaver and they have helped me to finally overcome my irrational aversion to js libraries like prototype and such. However, all this goodness seems to come at quiet a price. The resulting code is littered with inline JS, including ubiquitous script tags and onload attributes etc.. It seems that just when i found
