Restarting Lighttpd for each change? Error logging?
Hi, It seems that for each change that I make in my camping application, I have to restart lighttpd to make it work. Also whenever something goes wrong, a syntax error in my camping application for example, things just stop working and I can''t see any error messages in the lighttpd logs or any other log. I just followed the instructions to use Camping with lighttpd on the wiki. Any

Camping and Builder and XML
Hi, I have built a simple Camping application which indexes an ODBC datasource using Ferret on startup, then accepts search strings and renders the resulting hit list in HTML, and it works quite nicely. The next step was to alternately render the list in XML for consumption by another application. In Rails, I would simply use Builder in the view to get the job done, and so I did the same in

Newline problem
Hello all, Recently I have started writing some small package apps. The main app I''m working on at the moment is Camping/Photos[1]. Here I use a controller to serve static files (Theme[3]) that I have copied from [2]. There seems a problem however, when using this via lighttpd. All files that get served (via photos-dispatch.rb) get an extra ''\r\n'' in front. This

Next camping release
Dear camping users, having been contacted by Julian Tarkhanov, I am willing to prepare the next camping release. _why has given me his friendly approval, with the reserve that camping.rb should be lower than 4k. He also told me that he wanted to remove the ActiveSupport and Markaby dependencies. I am writing here to get the users input so that I don''t do any mistake. So far, my plans

Camping and ruby2ruby
Hi everybody, I would like to use ruby2ruby in a caming project, but there seems to be an incompatibility with camping, ruby2ruby and markaby. Unfortunately I receive strange Markaby::InvalidXhtmlErrors. To demonstrate, that only combination of all three components causes the problem I added the following code. I relies on Markaby and ruby2ruby only and works fine (a.k.a. as expected).

+ camping 1.4.140 -- apache+fastcgi, lighttpd+fastcgi
Okay, I have tested mounting several of my apps under Lighttpd and Apache, both running FastCGI. I''m going to explain the configuration, but first: update. gem install camping --source code.whytheluckstiff.net == Mounting Root for Lighttpd+FastCGI == server.port = 3045 server.bind = "192.168.0.103" server.modules = (

CampingConf?
Campers -- In a few weeks there will be a bunch of people in Portland, OR, for a conference. A long time ago some campers mentioned that might be a good time for us to get together and hold a mini CampingConf for a few hours. Is anyone interested? Does anyone want to organize it? I''m thinking Wednesday night, May 16. We could possibly get a spot at FreeGeek (not likely since they are

Catching a list of variables with a Controller
Hi All, I have been learning some ruby and some Camping at the same time by implementing a little webapp to track expenses (one man''s blog...) that includes the ability to tag entries with 1 or more tags. I wanted to offer the possibility to narrow the view of expenses by adding tags to a filter (this works) and I also wanted this filter to be reflected in the URL. Like so: normal URL:

Running something periodically.
Suppose, for a moment, that I have a Camping app. It looks at something, like an RSS feed of upcoming events, and displays them if they meet a specified criterion. I look at the index page, it fetches the feed items and then displays them. Yay. Maybe it also writes them to a database. Which is great, so long as I keep looking at the page every so often. But what do I do while I''m

Date Helpers?
Does anyone have any ideas off the top of there head how to easily construct a date helper as one would see in Rails? Rack, Camping 2.0++
=== 1. Camping on Rack === I''ve just finished rewriting Camping to use Rack in the "core". I got rid of (a little less) than 1kB in camping.rb and removed lots of un-necessary files (lib/server/*.rb, fastcgi.rb & mongrel.rb). bin/camping does now only provide WEBrick, Mongrel and console-support and should only be used in development. It uses Rack::ShowExceptions to catch

Do we still need to be alert when on SQLite3?
Anyone knows if we still need to follow the instructions at http://web.archive.org/web/20080113055731/code.whytheluckystiff.net/camping/wiki/BeAlertWhenOnSqlite3, or if the stable release is good enough? //Magnus Holm -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Increased memory requirements on 1.2
I just recently upgraded a rails app of mine to run on edge (and the 1-2-pre-release branch) and I noticed my fcgis required roughly 6-8MBs more memory after just a couple requests. For example, each fcgi on edge would start around 40MB and rise to ~46MBs after a couple requests. I downgraded my app back to 1.1.6 and each fcgi would start at around 33MBs and rise to ~38MB. As a result of the

multipart/form-data support for Camping Apache/FastCGI
sorry I broke it for mongrel, but the programmer who did the work for mongrel should not have much problem integrating the two I think. Apache/CGI is different and still will not work. I fuck around for a full day at the end of the day, I found Iowa another web framework and I try using their code but using Iowa::Request.new.read_multipart was more confusing than anything, although it helped me

Mousehole stuff
Hey everyone, I''m using mousehole for the first time today (love the artwork, btw) and I seem to be having problems with Camping and Markaby. When I go to the Apps page I get: Camping Problem!
