Disk IDs and DD
Hiya, Is there any reason (and anything to worry about) if disk target IDs don''t start at 0 (zero). For some reason mine are like this (3 controllers - 1 onboard and 2 PCIe); AVAILABLE DISK SELECTIONS: 0. c8t0d0 <ATA -ST9160314AS -SDM1 cyl 19454 alt 2 hd 255 sec 63> /pci at 0,0/pci10de,cb84 at 5/disk at 0,0 1. c8t1d0 <ATA -ST9160314AS -SDM1

The content of p_pool/p1 and backup/p_backup

How to delegate filesystems from different pools to non-global zone
I''m trying to add filesystems from two different pools to a zone but can''t seem to find any mention of how to do this in the docs. I tried this but the second set overwrites the first one. add dataset set name=pool1/fs1 set name=pool2/fs2 end Is this possible or do I need to use different syntax? -Robert This message posted from opensolaris.org

memory reduction
As those of you who watch CVS will be aware Wayne has been making progress in reducing memory requirements of rsync. Much of what he has done has been the product of discussions between he and myself that started a month ago with John Van Essen. Most recently Wayne has changed how the file_struct and its associated data are allocated, eliminating the string areas. Most of these changes have been

Lists of tables and conditional statements
Hi R-users, I have a list containing numeric tables of differing row length. I want to make a new list that contains only rows from tables with a "Sum" greater than 3, plus the names of each table. I was wondering whether there is an elegant way to do this using apply of related functions as this list has many thousands of such tables. Here is an example of the list $AACS

A couple of issues
I''ve been testing ZFS since it came out on b27 and this week I BFUed to b30. I''ve seen two problems, one I''ll call minor and the other major. The hardware is a Dell PowerEdge 2600 with 2 3.2GHz Xeons, 2GB memory and a perc3 controller. I have created a filesystem for over 1000 users on it and take hourly snapshots, which destroy the one from 24 hours ago, except the

Hardware RAID vs. ZFS RAID
Hello, I have a Dell 2950 with a Perc 5/i, two 300GB 15K SAS drives in a RAID0 array. I am considering going to ZFS and I would like to get some feedback about which situation would yield the highest performance: using the Perc 5/i to provide a hardware RAID0 that is presented as a single volume to OpenSolaris, or using the drives separately and creating the RAID0 with OpenSolaris and ZFS? Or

Compiling libvirt-0.8.4 for NFSv4
Hi all, Not sure if this will be useful to anyone. Worse, it's probably not complete or correct, but I thought I would throw this out there for comment. I asked earlier about configuring libvirt for NFSv4 support. I wanted to define NFSv4 pool from xml config, but it's not an option. I decided to hack a bit. Added the following to source code: storage_conf.h(417):

to check if a character string is in a group of character strings
Hello, How can I judge if a string is in a group of string? For example, I would like to have if (subpool in pool){ }else{ } Where > pool = c("s1","s2") > subpool = c("s1") How can I write the "subpool in pool" right in R? Thanks very much! ZFS Large scale deployment model
We have a virtualized environment of T-Series where each host has either zones or LDoms. All of the virtual systems will have their own dedicated storage on ZFS (and some may also get raw LUNs). All the SAN storage is delivered in fixed sized 33GB LUNs. The question I have to the community is whether it would be better to have a pool per virtual system, or create a large pool and carve out ZFS

lpxelinux.0 problems with CentOS 7.6
Hello list. This issue seems like it may be related to one described in a post in May: https://www.syslinux.org/archives/2019-May/026424.html. I've only just subscribed, so I was unable to reply directly to that thread. I am having a similar issue when I attempt to PXE boot CentOS 7.6.1810 using lpxelinux.0. The files are fully downloaded from the server and the kernel starts booting but

ZFS with EMC PowerPath
On some machines running PowerPath, there''s sometimes issues after an update/upgrade of the PowerPath software. Sometimes the pseudo devices get remapped and change names. ZFS appears to handle it OK, however sometimes it then references half native device names and half the emcpower pseudo device names. So the SA can easily be confused. Is there a way to tell ZFS which device names

zfs eradication
Hi, I was discussing the common practice of disk eradication used by many firms for security. I was thinking this may be a useful feature of ZFS to have an option to eradicate data as its removed, meaning after the last reference/snapshot is done and a block is freed, then write the eradication patterns back to the removed blocks. By any chance, has this been discussed or considered before?

I/O freeze after a disk failure
Hi all, yesterday we had a drive failure on a fc-al jbod with 14 drives. Suddenly the zpool using that jbod stopped to respond to I/O requests and we get tons of the following messages on /var/adm/messages: Sep 3 15:20:10 fb2 scsi: [ID 107833 kern.warning] WARNING: /scsi_vhci/disk at g20000004cfd81b9f (sd52): Sep 3 15:20:10 fb2 SCSI transport failed: reason ''timeout'':

Migrating ZFS/data pool to new pool on the same system
Can anyone confirm my action plan is the proper way to do this? The reason I''m doing this is I want to create 2xraidz2 pools instead of expanding my current 2xraidz1 pool. So I''ll create a 1xraidz2 vdev, migrate my current 2xraidz1 pool over, destroy that pool and then add it as a 1xraidz2 vdev to the new pool. I''m running b130, sharing both with CIFS and ISCSI (not

understanding zfs/thunoer "bottlenecks"?
Currently I''m trying to figure out the best zfs layout for a thumper wrt. to read AND write performance. I did some simple mkfile 512G tests and found out, that per average ~ 500 MB/s seems to be the maximum on can reach (tried initial default setup, all 46 HDDs as R0, etc.). According to http://www.amd.com/us-en/assets/content_type/DownloadableAssets/ArchitectureWP_062806.pdf I would

Zil on multiple usb keys
This might be a stupid question, but here goes... Would adding, say, 4 4 or 8gb usb keys as a zil make enough of a difference for writes on an iscsi shared vol? I am finding reads are not too bad (40is mb/s over gige on 2 500gb drives stripped) but writes top out at about 10 and drop a lot lower... If I where to add a couple usb keys for zil, would it make a difference? Thanks. Sent from a
