can you recover a pool if you lose the zil (b134+)
I was messing around with a ramdisk on a pool and I forgot to remove it
before I shut down the server. Now I am not able to mount the pool. I am
not concerned with the data in this pool, but I would like to try to figure
out how to recover it.
I am running Nexenta 3.0 NCP (b134+).
I have tried a couple of the commands (zpool import -f and zpool import -FX
llift)

qemu 0.10.2 and Solaris snv111 64 Bit /"unexpected erratum #100"
Hi
I''ve installed Solaris snv111 in a QEMU virtual machine using qemu

but after rebooting from the virtual disk Solaris panics:

NFS/SATA lockups (svc_cots_kdup no slots free & sata port time out)
I have a Solaris 10 U8 box (142901-14) running as an NFS server with
a 23 disk zpool behind it (three RAIDZ2 vdevs).
We have a single Intel X-25E SSD operating as an slog ZIL device
attached to a SATA port on this machine''s motherboard.
The rest of the drives are in a hot-swap enclosure.
Infrequently (maybe once every 4-6 weeks), the zpool on the box stops
responding and although we

defer_destroy property set on snapshot creation
I am running NexentaOS_134f
This is really weird, but I for some reason the defer_destroy property
is being set on new snapshots and I can''t turn it off. Normally it
should be enabled when using the zfs destroy -d command. The property
doesn''t seem to be inherited from anywhere.
It seems to have just started happening.
Here are the steps showing how it works. Really, it

SCSI write retry errors on ZIL SSD drives...
I posted a thread on this once long ago[1] -- but we''re still fighting
with this problem and I wanted to throw it out here again.
All of our hardware is from Silicon Mechanics (SuperMicro chassis and
motherboards).
Up until now, all of the hardware has had a single 24-disk expander /
backplane -- but we recently got one of the new SC847-based models with
24 disks up front and 12 in the

Modify stmf_sbd_lu properties
Is it possible to modify the GUID associated with a ZFS volume imported into STMF?
To clarify- I have a ZFS volume I have imported into STMF and export via iscsi. I have a number of snapshots of this volume. I need to temporarily go back to an older snapshot without removing all the more recent ones. I can delete the current sbd LU, clone the snapshot I want to test, and then bring that back in

Upgrading a volume from iscsitgt to COMSTAR
Hi, I have a zfs volume that''s exported via iscsi for my wife''s Mac to
use for Time Machine.
I''ve just built a new machine to house my "big" pool, and installed
build 129 on it. I''d like to start using COMSTAR for exporting the
iscsi targets, rather than the older iscsi infrastructure.
I''ve seen quite a few tutorials on how to use

Starting Thinking Sphinx on Joyent SmartOS with svcadm
I followed this tutorial: http://www.neo.com/2013/10/09/unicorn-on-joyent-smartos and the RailsCast about configuring Nginx and Unicorn, and successfully set up my first non-Passenger/Apache Rails app last weekend.
Buoyed by this success, I next set about trying to get ThinkingSphinx to restart when the server starts, and managed to get my server to run away with 115% server usage. (Oddly, while

msdfs root -- client error "refers to a location that is unavailable"
I'm trying to get Samba 3.0.28 to work as an MS Dfs root providing a share
that links home directories to the actual servers they reside on.
Unfortunately, when I access the share from a Windows XP client, and try to
open one of the directories, the client gives an error that it "refers to a
location that is unavailable".
I've done a lot of searching, and found a number of

hail,
I have a soekris running an atom and 2GB RAM and ZFS using 7 drives, small capacity though, to
test and study if I can make my home server this box and this way. It will be a simple server,
three users tops.
I followed the handbook and made the geli step on the disks:
