R crashes with some characters.
Hi to all! Thank you for my previous question on how to make Tcl work. I did as suggested and it works now. I still have a problem when inputing special characters: I have a table with a column labeld A?o (year in Spanish). I did as suggested on the FAQ for Windows, I downloaded msvcrt.dll and then copied it to the R/bin directory (By the way I also tried copying in the Windows/system

installing a pseudo driver in a Solaris DOM U and DOM U reboot
Hello, on a v20z, we have as DOM 0 a Solaris XEN on snv44 64bits and we have as DOM U a Solaris XEN on snv44 64 bits. We then install a pseudo driver in the Solaris DOM 1 XEN snv44: installation is ok and driver works as expected. But on reboot of DOM 1, the driver is no more there (in modinfo, driver not found). Is there something special to do after a pseudo driver installation in a Solaris

Drive id confusion
Solaris and/or ZFS are badly confused about drive IDs. The "c5t0d0" names are very far removed from the real world, and possibly they''ve gotten screwed up somehow. Is devfsadm supposed to fix those, or does it only delete excess? Reason I believe it''s confused: zpool status shows mirror-0 on c9t3d0, c9t2d0, and c9t5d0. But format shows the one remaining Seagate

st devices not showing up in xvm
I have a Sony lib-162 tape library hooked up to an adaptec 39160 scsi controller. I''m running OpenSolaris / Indiana snv_98 with the CADP160 driver installed from a SXCE dvd (snv_99). When I boot without xvm, I can run "mt config" and see the configuration information for the first drive in the library. Under xvm, some scsi operations still work - I can access the changer, move

Expanding a ZFS pool disk in Solaris 10 on VMWare (or other expandable storage technology)
Hello all, This is not so much a question but rather a "how-to" for posterity. Comments and possible fixes are welcome, though. I''m toying (for work) with a Solaris 10 VM, and it has a dedicated virtual HDD for data and zones. The template VM had a 20Gb disk, but a particular application needs more. I hoped ZFS autoexpand would do the trick transparently, but it turned out

ZFS support for USB disks 120GB Western Digital
Hey, I have a portable harddisk Western Digital 120GB USB. Im running Nevada b42a on Thinkpad T43. Is this a supported configuration for setting up ZFS on portable disks ? Found out some old blogs about this topic: http://blogs.sun.com/roller/page/artem?entry=zfs_on_the_go and some other info under: http://www.sun.com/io_technologies/USB-Faq.html Is this information still valid ? usb ups on openindiana
Hello all, I am trying to set up my brother's UPS (remotely over internet) on an OpenIndiana-based storage box. According to him, the UPS is probably an Ippon Back Power Pro 600 dated around 2003 (battery recently replaced), and it has an USB connection. Sorry for a relatively long post with a log of my successes and failures, in the hopes that someone would point out what I did wrong.

why is zpool import still hanging in opensolaris 2009.06 ??? no fix yet ???
Follow-up : happy end ... It took quite some thinkering but... i have my data back... I ended up starting without the troublesome zfs storage array, de-installed the iscsitartget software and re-installed it...just to have solaris boot without complaining about missing modules... That left me with a system that would boot as long as the storage was disconnected... Reconnecting it made the boot

device error without a check sum error ?
I have a system running in a VM with a root pool. The root pool occasionally shows a fairly stern warning. This warning comes with no check sum errors. bash-3.00# zpool status -vx pool: rpool state: ONLINE status: One or more devices has experienced an error resulting in data corruption. Applications may be affected. action: Restore the file in question if possible. Otherwise restore

How to build Xen with on-src-b79
I am trying to build Xen from on-src-b79. According to opensolaris website, all xVM sources should be in the on-src-b79 tree, and no additional sources are required. I followed the procedure for doing the nightly build, and I expected that, as a result I will build, along with the Solaris kernel, the xen.gz image. I was hoping to copy that xen.gz image to my test machine, so I can boot with my own

zpool status showing wrong device name (similar to: ZFS confused about disk controller )
Hi All, over the last couple of weeks, I had to boot from my rpool from various physical machines because some component on my laptop mainboard blew up (you know that burned electronics smell?). I can''t retrospectively document all I did, but I am sure I recreated the boot-archive, ran devfsadm -C and deleted /etc/zfs/zpool.cache several times. Now zpool status is referring to a

device name changing
Hi. If I create a zpool with the following command: zpool create tank raidz2 da0 da1 da2 da3 da4 da5 da6 da7 and after a reboot the device names for some reason are changed so da2 and da5 are swapped, either by altering the LUN setting on the storage or by switching cables/swapping disks etc.? How will zfs handle that? Will it simply acknowledge that all devices are present and the pool is
