Need help with text processing / string split
I used screen scraping to extract some information and put it into a table called tbl. Now I want to modify the table a bit so the data can be more useful. Here's the code I used: library(XML) rm(list=ls()) url <- "http://webapp.montcopa.org/sherreal/salelist.asp?saledate=05/25/2011" tbl <-data.frame(readHTMLTable(url))[2:405, c(3,5,6,8,9)] names(tbl) <-

SVM Param Tuning with using SNOW package
Hello, Is the first time I am using SNOW package and I am trying to tune the cost parameter for a linear SVM, where the cost (variable cost1) takes 10 values between 0.5 and 30. I have a large dataset and a pc which is not very powerful, so I need to tune the parameters using both CPUs of the pc. Somehow I cannot manage to do it. It seems that both CPUs are fitting the model for the same values

core dumps eating space in snapshots
I have many core files stuck in snapshots eating up gigs of my disk space. Most of these are BE''s which I don''t really want to delete right now. Is there a way to get rid of them? I know snapshots are RO but can I do some magic with clones and reclaim my space? -- This message posted from opensolaris.org

smbmount and PCShare [Helios]
I tried to mount a PCShare file system with smbmount and was surprised to see that there is a problem while writing files to the mounted file system. I can read everything and move things an make directories within the shared file system. But if I try to copy a file from the local disk (LINUX SuSE 8.1) to the shared file system I get an I/O error. I suppose that this is not a permission

password change error
Hi, We migrated from redhat 7.1 to redhat 3 ES and ran into one road block after the other. Most of them were solved except this last one. Users cannot change their passwords and then I read somewhere that samba 3.0 and MS KB828471 or 741 don't want to be friends. Then I upgraded my samba to be samba 3.0.7 (which i guess is the latest).... Then I un-installed the KBB patch being accused.

Virtual to physical migration
I had created a virtualbox VM to test out opensolaris. I updated to latest dev build and set my things up. Tested pools and various configs/commands. Learnt format/partition etc. And then, I wanted to move this stuff to a solaris partition on the physical disk. VB provides physical disk access. I put my solaris partition in there and created slices for root, swap etc. in that partition inside the
