Using same ZFS under different kernel versions
I build two zfs filesystems using b29 (from brandz).
I then re-installed solaris express b28, preserving the zfs filesystems.
When I tried to "zpool import" my zfs filesystems I got a kernel panic:

reproducible zfs panic on Solaris 10 06/06
Hi,
I am able to reproduce the following panic on a number of Solaris 10 06/06 boxes (Sun Blade 150, V210 and T2000). The script to do this is:
#!/bin/sh -x
uname -a
mkfile 100m /data
zpool create tank /data
zpool status
cd /tank
ls -al
cp /etc/services .
ls -al
cd /
rm /data

Fw: Btrfs Samba and Quotas
Hello,
by suggestion from linux-btrfs I post this to samba at lists.samba.org.
I think, thiss is a bug in Samba. Can you confirm and suggest a
workaround?
Regards,
Hendrik

(gang?)block layout question, and how to decipher ZDB output?
Hello, all
I''m "playing" with ZDB again on another test system,
the rpool being uncompressed with 512-byte sectors.
Here''s some output that puzzles me (questions follow):

Recovering from kernel panic / reboot cycle importing pool.
Yesterday morning I awoke to alerts from my SAN that one of my OS disks was faulty, FMA said it was in hardware failure. By the time I got to work (1.5 hours after the email) ALL of my pools were in a degraded state, and "tank" my primary pool had kicked in two hot spares because it was so discombobulated.

how to find a row index in a matrix or a data frame ?
Dear all,
this looks pretty much a standard problem, but I couldn't find a
satisfying and understandable solution.
(A) Given a data frame (or matrix), e.g.
x <- data.frame(A=c(1, 2, 2), B=c(4, 5, 5))
and a row of this data frame, e.g.
r <- c(2, 5)
I need to find one row index i (or all such indices) such that r
is at the i-th row in x, that is, the

Pool performance when nearly full
Hi
I know some of this has been discussed in the past but I can''t quite find the exact information I''m seeking
(and I''d check the ZFS wikis but the websites are down at the moment).
Firstly, which is correct, free space shown by "zfs list" or by "zpool iostat" ?
zfs list:
used 50.3 TB, free 13.7 TB, total = 64 TB, free = 21.4%

Dovecot does not access /var/mail when using Maildir
Hello,
I'm running debain on my machine with postfix, squirrelmail and dovecot
installed. Everything works fine and I'm able to access my mail via
squirrelmail and via Outlook with imap.
However I want to create subfolders what is not possible. After reading I
discovered that I use mbox and that maildir is needed in order to be able
to use subfolders.
I have created a Maildir folder with

help: exponential fit?
Hi there,
I'm quite new to R (and statistics),
and I like it (both)!
But I'm a bit lost in all these packages,
so could someone please give me a hint
whether there exists a package for fitting
exponential curves (of the type
t --> \sum_i a_i \exp( - b_i t))
on a noisy signal?
In fact monoexponential decay + polynomial growth
is what I'd like to try.
Thanks in advance,

r-mode (ESS/XEmacs)
Hello,
please excuse me if this is not the appropriate
mailing list, but I'll give it a try!
I recently switched from using Emacs 20.7.1 to
XEmacs 21.4, both on cygwin / MS W2K.
On Emacs the ESS 5.1.17 was working well, but
now, when calling R from within XEmacs,
it first asks for the working directory,
then says "R process is not running".
The ESS buffer holds the

tracking an error back to a file
Hi. I''m in the process of writing an introductory paper on ZFS.
The paper is meant to be something that could be given to a systems
admin at a site to introduce ZFS and document common procedures for
using ZFS.
In the paper, I want to document the method for identifying which
file has a checksum error. In previous discussions on this alias,
I''ve used the following

ZFS panics solaris while switching a volume to read-only
Hi,
I just found out that ZFS triggers a kernel-panic while switching a mounted volume
into read-only mode:
The system is attached to a Symmetrix, all zfs-io goes through Powerpath:
I ran some io-intensive stuff on /tank/foo and switched the device into
read-only mode at the same time (symrdf -g bar failover -establish).
ZFS went ''bam'' and triggered a Panic:

how to extract the maximum from a matrix?
Dear UseRs,
I have a very simple question. I have a big matrix (say x) including
probabilities (values in (0,1)).
I have to store in a list the names of the row and the column where max(x)
is located. How can I proceed?
Thanks in advance for your assistance!

Single-disk rpool with inconsistent checksums, import fails
Hello all,
I have an oi_148a PC with a single root disk, and since
recently it fails to boot - hangs after the copyright
message whenever I use any of my GRUB menu options.
Booting with an oi_148a LiveUSB I had around since
installation, I ran some zdb traversals over the rpool
and zpool import attempts. The imports fail by running
the kernel out of RAM (as recently discussed in the

Hello,
I am planning to build a bigger Internet platform and actually evaluating
Java EE and Rails. I have a lot of Java experience and I am quite new to
Rails. After playing some weeks with Rails I am sure that it is a mature web
framework and I really like the productivtity of Rails. One of the key
advantages is that new developers will understand this platform much quicker
than all the Java
