booting from ashift=12 pool..
.. evidently doesn''t work. GRUB reboots the machine moments after loading stage2, and doesn''t recognise the fstype when examining the disk loaded from an alernate source. This is with SX-151. Here''s hoping a future version (with grub2?) resolves this, as well as lets us boot from raidz. Just a note for the archives in case it helps someone else get back the afternoon

building xvm-3.4 gate on indiana
There seems to be no list of needed packages, when starting with a fresh opensolaris dev (b121 today). hg gmake I guessed by now. Additionally the stuff mentioned here: http://opensolaris.org/os/project/indiana/building_on/ But are there further packages needed? Maybe some one should add a verified list to the building howtos... Florian

zvol space consumption vs ashift, metadata packing
I sent a zvol from host a, to host b, twice. Host b has two pools, one ashift=9, one ashift=12. I sent the zvol to each of the pools on b. The original source pool is ashift=9, and an old revision (2009_06 because it''s still running xen). I sent it twice, because something strange happened on the first send, to the ashift=12 pool. "zfs list -o space" showed figures at

tls library message won''t go away
Hello, I''m trying to upgrade to using the "boxed" xen supported on FC4 after having it working fine for a while on a manual installation on FC3. I upgraded the host operating system with the FC4 cdroms, and it went mostly fine (after I turned off SElinux...) Now, when I try to boot one of the provided xen kernels, namely: vmlinuz-2.6.12-1.1447_FC4xen0 I always get the warning

netstat - kill by pid ?
I am writing a small script to kill process(es) listening on particular port number. Here I am particularly looking at Java servlet-containers like Tomcat and JBoss, which sometimes don't complete their shutdown process and it still shows up as running process with ps or netstat. This needs to be kill-ed and for that knowing pid of that process is necessary. The netstat by default doesn't

SNOM loses server registration
Hello to all When my SNOM (300 or 320) loses Internet connectivity, it loses its Asterisk registration (ok, thats normal). But when the phone is back online, he doesn't try to register in Asterisk. I believe this happens to avoid flooding the private LANs when the Internet link is lost.... but the problem is that the phones don't try to re-register in the future.... Sometimes it stays

Need to unmount an LV from host system
Greetings - Ok, I made a mistake that I need to fix. Fortunately it is not a destructive mistake, but I need some advice on how to correct the problem. CentOS 6.3 host system named Earth I was creating some new logical volumes within my exiting volume group for a new virtual machine using the LVM GUI. When I created the LV that I plan to use for root partition of the new VM (Bacteria) I
