zfs send to remote any ideas for a faster way than ssh?
I''ve tried ssh blowfish and scp arcfour. both are CPU limited long before the 10g link is. I''vw also tried mbuffer, but I get broken pipe errors part way through the transfer. I''m open to ideas for faster ways to to either zfs send directly or through a compressed file of the zfs send output. For the moment I; zfs send > pigz scp arcfour the file gz file to the

Mapping inode numbers to file names
Let''s suppose you rename a file or directory. /tank/widgets/a/rel2049_773.13-4/somefile.txt Becomes /tank/widgets/b/foogoo_release_1.9/README Let''s suppose you are now working on widget B, and you want to look at the past zfs snapshot of README, but you don''t remember where it came from. That is, you don''t know the previous name or location where that

[LLVMdev] clang change function name
Hi, I compile a .cpp with cmd: clang++ -emit-llvm -c -g -O0 -w pbzip2.cpp -o pbzip2.bc -lbz2 llvm-dis pbzip2.bc One function in .cpp is consumer_decompress. However, I look inside pbzip2.ll. The function name is changed to "define i8* @_Z19consumer_decompressPv(i8* %q) #0 {" Why clang adds a "_Z19" prefix and "Pv" suffix? Thanks,

incremental backup with zfs to file
FULL backup to a file zfs snapshot -r rpool at 0908 zfs send -Rv rpool at 0908 > /net/remote/rpool/snaps/rpool.0908 INCREMENTAL backup to a file zfs snapshot -i rpool at 0908 rpool at 090822 zfs send -Rv rpool at 090822 > /net/remote/rpool/snaps/rpool.090822 As I understand the latter gives a file with changes between 0908 and 090822. Is this correct? How do I restore those files? I know

Request to speed up save()
Hi, I am dealing with very large datasets and it takes a long time to save a workspace image. The options to save compressed data are: "gzip", "bzip2" or "xz", the default being gzip. I wonder if it's possible to include the pbzip2 (http://compression.ca/pbzip2/) algorithm as an option when saving. "PBZIP2 is a parallel implementation of the bzip2

[LLVMdev] clang change function name
Got it, thanks. But in my pass, I use function name to locate. Can I disable mangling in clang? Logging SIP connection status for review
Is anyone using something to log SIP results (connected/not, latency) that they really like? We do some logging using simple scripts writing the results of sip show peers to a text file if customers report issues, but it would be nice to have a tool that logs all the time and lets us do some better reporting. For example, graphs of latency in a time range, or a list of unreachable phones within

[LLVMdev] a problem when using postDominatorTree
I'll try the trunk, as well as check my code again. If indeed it's not fixed, I'll try to post a triggering case here. Parallel compression support for saving to rds/rdata files?
Hi, I have tried to follow the instructions in the ``save`` documentation and it doesn't seem to work (see below): mydata <- do.call(rbind, rep(iris, 10000)) con <- pipe("pigz -p8 > fname.gz", "wb"); save(mydata, file = con); close(con) # This runs R.utils::gunzip("fname.gz", "fname.RData", overwrite = TRUE) load("fname.RData") #

zfs send of a cloned zvol
Hi, I have a question, let''s say I have a zvol named vol1 which is a clone of a snapshot of another zvol (its origin property is tank/myvol at mysnap). If I send this zvol to a different zpool through a zfs send does it send the origin too that is, does an automatic promotion happen or do I end up whith a broken zvol? Best regards. LVM thinpool snapshots broken in 6.5?
Hi, I just installed a CentOS 6.5 System with the intention of using thinly provisioned snapshots. I created the volume group, a thinpool and then a logical volume. All of that works fine but when I create a snapshot "mysnap" then the snapshot volume gets displayed in the "lvs" output with the correct information but apparently no device nodes are created under

rsync fails to sync files
Hi, I'm seeing a weird problem with rsync 2.6.9 protocol version 29 on Debian Sarge. When copying a file from one location to another between two Debian boxes, if destination includes a file with same size and name, rsync fails to see that they are not exactly the same file. The situation originates from copying a file to a place which is periodically rsynced onwards, and the rsync

make check reg-tests-1.R error on solaris
R 2.5.1 compiled, passed the make check and has been successfully running for a couple years on a Sun Fire V490 running Solaris 9. I need a newer version of R, but can't get a newer version of R to pass the make check. I've tried 2.8.1, 2.7.2, 2.6.2 and 2.6.0. (2.5.1 still passes on this server) At this point I thought I'd try to compile it on another Sun server (Solaris 10),

Solaris streams package installation
Is it possible to install a solaris streams package with puppet? As some of my machines are not allowed to be a nfs client, I transfer the bunch of packages to these clients with the file type and puppet:// ... If the packages are in filesystem format there can be hundreds of files within large packages. It takes a huge amount of time to transfer all of them. So I''ve changed them into

Building an On-Site and Off-Size ZFS server, replication question
Good morning. I am in the process of planning a system which will have 2 ZFS servers, one on site, one off site. The on site server will be used by workstations and servers in house, and most of that will stay in house. There will, however, be data i want backed up somewhere else, which is where the offsite server comes in... This server will be sitting in a Data Center and will have some storage
