Status of DTrace NFSv3/v4 client providers
We recently had a strange NFS performance anomaly between a V880 running snv_124 and two NetApp filers. To investigate, a DTrace NFSv4 (and eventually NFSv3) client provider would been extremely helpful. Unfortunately, all I could find were a request for code review of a v3 client provider and another request for help developing a v4 provider. Nothing seems to have come from those initiatives,

zfs destroy -f and dataset is busy?
We have a pair of opensolaris systems running snv_124. Our main zpool ''z'' is running ZFS pool version 18. Problem: #zfs destroy -f z/Users/harrison at zfs-auto-snap:daily-2010-04-09-00:00 cannot destroy ''z/Users/harrison at zfs-auto-snap:daily-2010-04-09-00:00'': dataset is busy I have tried: Unable to destroy numerous datasets even with a -f option.

Create a time interval from a single time variable
I am trying to set up a data set for a survival analysis with time-varying covariates. The data is already in a long format, but does not have a variable to signify the stopping point for the interval. The variable DaysEnrolled is the variable I would like to use to form this interval. This is what I have now: ID Age DaysEnrolled HAZ WAZ WHZ Food onARV

a +1 shift overlaying lines/points on a boxplot (PR#398)
Full_Name: Adrian Custer Version: 0.90.0 OS: Linux on Thinkpad (pentium) and desktop (K6) Submission from: (NULL) (128.32.251.234) When I create a boxplot, and then try to overlay a lowess fit or just the points, the points do not appear in the highest level and the lowess curve does not reach the highest level. However, if I add one to each of the models, the problem is solved. I tried this

Forcing a negative slope in linear regression?
Dear forum members, How can I force a negative slope in a linear regression even though the slope might be positive? I will need it for the purpose of determining the trend due reasons other than biological because the biological (genetic) trend is not positive for these data. Thanks. Julia Example of the data: [1] 1.254 1.235 1.261 0.952 1.202 1.152 0.801 0.424 0.330 0.251 0.229

a question regarding 'lrm'
Hi List, I don't understand why 'lrm' doesn't recognize the '~.' formula. I'm pretty sure it was working before. How set lm() to don't return NA in summary()?
Hi, I've data from an incomplete fatorial design. One level of a factor doesn't has the levels of the other. When I use lm(), the summary() return NA for that non estimable parameters. Ok, I understant it. But I use contrast::contrast(), gmodels::estimable(), multcomp::glht() and all these fail when model has NA estimates. This is becouse vcov() and coef() has different dimensions. RAIDZ v. RAIDZ1
So, I took four 1.5TB drives and made RAIDZ, RAIDZ1 and RAIDZ2 pools. The sizes for the pools were 5.3TB, 4.0TB, and 2.67TB respectively. The man page for RAIDZ states that "The raidz vdev type is an alias for raidz1." So why was there a difference between the sizes for RAIDZ and RAIDZ1? Shouldn''t the size be the same for "zpool create raidz ..." and "zpool

formula for degrees of freedom for nonlinear mixed model in nlme
Dear forum members, What is the formula to calculate denominator degrees of freedom (den df) for nonlinear mixed-effect models with covariates? My model is similar to a CO2 uptake example from Pinheiro and Bates (2000, page 376). In this CO2 dataset, there are two treatments and two types (84 observations in total), but den df for each parameter of the model is 64. Isn’t it too high? Your

ts model challenge (transfer function)
Dear useRs, I am trying to model a time series with a transfer function. I think it can be put into the ARMA framework, and estimated with the 'arima' function (and others have made similar comments on this list). I have tried to do that, but the results have so far been disappointing. Maybe I am trying to make 'arima' do something it can't... The data are time series of

maxtrix to permutation vector
Hi, Is there a way to convert a matrix into a vector representing all permutations of values and column/row headings with native R functions? I did this with 2 nested for loops and it took about 25 minutes to run on a ~700x700 matrix. I'm assuming there must be a smarter way to do this with R's vector commands, but being new to R, I'm having trouble making it work. Thanks,

Sadly you failed to set your email program to send plain text and the data is corrupted at my end. I also think you need to reduce the size of the data set... the intent here is to increase your understanding, not debug your particular analysis. I will say that I am having a very challenging time understanding what you are trying to accomplish though. What are the equations that you think need

OK, Let's try this again! Here is the reproducible script; it is long because I had to copy the panel dataset here. My question is related to systemfit; I don't know how to get the result for the entire panel. #Reproducible script Empdata<- read.csv("/Users/ngwinuiazenui/Documents/UPLOADemp.csv") View(Empdata) install.packages("systemfit")

... and the mailing list is picky about attachments... whatever you attached did not conform to the stringent requirements mentioned in the Posting Guide. Pasting the code right into the email is usually safest, though you DO have to post using plain text (as the Posting Guide indicates) or your code may get mangled by the automatic html format removal. Unless there is good reason not to, always cc the list -- there are lots of smarter folks than I on it who can help. I may or may not have time to look at this. t.test in a loop
Hi All, I've been having a little trouble with creating a loop that will run a a series of t.tests for inspection, Below is the code i've tried, and some checks i've looked at. I've used the get(paste()) idea as i was told previously that the use of the eval should try and be avoided. I've run a single syntax to check that my systax is correct and works without any problems
