cloning disk with zpool
Hello the list,
I thought that it should be easy to do a clone (not in the term of zfs) of a disk with zpool. This manipulation is strongly inspired by
http://www.opensolaris.org/jive/thread.jspa?messageID=135038
and
http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/zfs/boot/
But unfortunately this doesn''t work, and we do have no clue what could be wrong

Error 16: Inconsistent filesystem structure after a change in the system
I''ve hit this bug on my home machine couple of times and finally decided to log
it since I''ve spend 2 days configuring my "OpenSolaris 2008.11 snv_101b_rc2
X86" and after installing the SUNWsmbfskr package I ended up in the grub> menu.
The package contains a necessary module for CIFS. After pkg install
SUNWsmbfskr, I rebooted the box. There was no grub menu anymore

Some initial experiences.
Hi folks,
I''ve been asked to post my experiences here, so... well, here goes :)
(in no particular order).
We can view bugs in kernel/xen via bugs.opensolaris.org, but not file
them against kernel/xen. Could that be added to the list of categories
for submission?
There''s kind of a composite set of problems with bootadm(1M).

Kernel panic on zfs import
Hi,
I''ve got an OpenSolaris 2009.06 box that will reliably panic whenever
I try to import one of my pools. What''s the best practice for
recovering (before I resort to nuking the pool and restoring from
backup)?
There are two pools on the system: rpool and tank. The rpool seems to
be fine, since I can boot from a 2009.06 CD and ''zpool import -f
rpool''; I can

Deterioration with zfs performace and recent zfs bits?
Has anyone else noticed a significant zfs performance deterioration
when running recent opensolaris bits?
My 32-bit / 768 MB Toshiba Tecra S1 notebook was able to do a
full opensolaris release build in ~ 4 hours 45 minutes (gcc shadow
compilation disabled; using an lzjb compressed zpool / zfs on a
single notebook hdd p-ata drive).

reconstruct recovery of rpool zpool and zfs file system with bad sectors
Folks I posted this question on (OpenSolaris - Help) without any replies http://opensolaris.org/jive/thread.jspa?threadID=129436&tstart=0 and am re-posting here in the hope someone can help ... I have updated the wording a little too (in an attempt to clarify)
I currently use OpenSolaris on a Toshiba M10 laptop.
One morning the system wouldn''t boot OpenSolaris 2009.06 (it was simply

OpenSolaris 2009.06 - ZFS Install Issue
I''ve installed Open Solaris 2009.06 on a machine with 5 identical 1TB wd green drives to create a ZFS nas. The intended install is one drive dedicated to the OS and the remaining 4 drives in a raidz1 configuration. The install is working fine, but creating the raidz1 pool and rebooting is causing the machine report "Cannot find active partition" upon reboot. Below is command

zpool status showing wrong device name (similar to: ZFS confused about disk controller )
Hi All,
over the last couple of weeks, I had to boot from my rpool from various physical
machines because some component on my laptop mainboard blew up (you know that
burned electronics smell?). I can''t retrospectively document all I did, but I am
sure I recreated the boot-archive, ran devfsadm -C and deleted
/etc/zfs/zpool.cache several times.
Now zpool status is referring to a

zfs/iSCSI: 0000 = SNS Error Type: Current Error (0x70)
Hi,
I''m trying to track down an error with a 64bit x86 OpenSolaris 2009.06 ZFS shared via iSCSI and an Ubuntu 10.04 client. The client can successfully log in, but no device node appears. I captured a session with wireshark. When the client attempts a "SCSI: Inquiry LUN: 0x00", OpenSolaris sends a "SCSI Response (Check Condition) LUN:0x00" that contains the

ZFS Raidz2 problem, detached drive
I have an X4500 thumper box with 48x 500gb drives setup in a a pool and split into raidz2 sets of 8 - 10 drives within the single pool.
I had a failed disk with i cfgadm unconfigured and replaced no problem, but it wasn''t recognised as a Sun drive in Format and unbeknown to me someone else logged in remotely at the time and issued a zpool replace....

Reboots when importing old rpool
I have a fresh install of Solaris 11 Express on a new SSD. I have inserted the old hard disk, and tried to import it, with:
# zpool import -f <long id number> Old_rpool
but the computer reboots. Why is that? On my old hard disk, I have 10-20 BE, starting with OpenSolaris 2009.06 and upgraded to b134 up to snv_151a. I also have a WinXP entry in GRUB.
This hard disk is partitioned, with a

zfs corruption...
Hi all,
It would appear that I have a zpool corruption issue to deal with...
pool is exported, but upon trying to import it, server panics. Are
there any tools available on a zpool that is in an exported state?
I''ve got a separate test bed in which I''m trying to recreate, but I
keep getting messages to the effect of need to import the pool first.
Suggestions?
thanks

ZFS Boot Won''t work with a straight or mirror zfsroot
Using build 70, I followed the zfsboot instructions at http://
www.opensolaris.org/os/community/zfs/boot/zfsboot-manual/ to the
letter.
I tried first with a mirror zfsroot, when I try to boot to zfsboot
the screen is flooded with "init(1M) exited on fatal signal 9"
Than I tried with a simple zfs pool (not mirrored) and it just
reboots right away.

Fujitsu Siemens PRIMERGY RX300
Hi all
Opensolaris works perfectly, but I am not able to boot the xvm kernel on this hardware.
I added the -k option in grub, but the system hangs before the hostname line without any debug info.
I''ve tried snv from b94 to b99, with the same results.
If I install Debian with xen kernel I am able to use pvm and hvm guests.
What can I do ?
thanks
Giacomo

How to destroy your system in funny way with ZFS
Hi all,
I installed another OpenSolaris (snv_129) in VirtualBox 3.1.0 on Windows because snv_130 doesn''t boot anymore after installation of VirtualBox guest additions. Older builds before snv_129 were running fine too. I like some features of this OS, but now I end with something funny.
I installed default snv_129, installed guest additions -> reboot, set
