HVM --> PV, success on 1st time, failed on 2nd time
Hello list, I''m having a perplexing problem. I''m currently trying to install Gentoo Linux on XenServer 5.6 fp1. When I''ve compiled the kernel, I shutdown, eject CD, activate PV mode, and turn on. It worked, except for the fact that I forgot to change the entries in /etc/fstab to point to /dev/xvd?. So I shutdown, change back to HVM, and reboot into Gentoo''s

Compiling libvirt for Xenserver 6.2
Hi, I am trying to compile libvirt-1.1.2 for Xenserver 6.2 using there DDK VM, however, it keeps giving error saying that it needs xenstore.h header file. However, I think Xenserver 6.2 is using older xs.h header file. Here is the excerpt of the beginning and end of the configure command ./configure . . checking for xenstore.h... no checking for xen/xen.h... yes checking for xen/version.h... yes

XCP - xenserver tools required?
One of the issues I''ve had using XenServer in a multitenant environment is the requirement for the VMs to have xentools installed as it causes significant issues when upgrading the VM OS or the pool from one version of XenServer (XCP) to another. Having to touch hundreds VMs (by hand) after an upgrade just doesn''t scale nor is delegating the task to VM owners an option.

XCP vs XenServer (free edition) or is it XCP mature enough?
Hello, I am a system manager of a datacenter. Is this moment, we about 30-40 xen servers running 2 or 3 domUs each of them. We are now using (standalone) xen over debian lenny. We manage each xen server independently, but we are looking for a central management console. At this moment, I have the doubt about using citrix xenserver (the free edition) or XCP. I didn''t know much

XenServer Tools For Linux
Hi, I installed two linux VMs in XenServer 6.0, one is CentOS 5.5 and the other is Ubuntu 10.04, both of which are HVMs. I install xenserver tools many times and the packages are installed, but XenCenter keeps telling me that "Xenserver tools is not installed". Shared Storage on Xenserver 5.6
Hi. I''m new to Xenserver. I have to configure high availability between two Xenservers I have attached a rough sketch. The licensing that has been purchased is for "Advanced". I want to use shared storage, where both the Xenservers use a common LUN. The virtual machines will "live" on this LUN. I want the virtual machines to be running on one Xenserver. If this

easiest way to create DomU
Hello community, I''ve already installed Xen hypervisor over CentOS 6.0. I am wondering where can I obtain some patched guest OS kernels to get start. It seems that under PV mode, guest kernel needs to be modified (correct me if I am wrong). I am a newbie and have no previous experiences on Xen so any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks, -- Su

Sound or USB passthrough for Windows guest at Citrix XenServer 5.6 Free
Hi there, I''ve started using Xen through Citrix XenServer 5.6 Free. Now I am thinking about adding a USB sound device to my virtual Windows machine. One idea would be to access a virtual audio device that streams audio to a client. I''ve stumbled over the possibility to SSH-forward PulseAudio but this is not possible for Windows on either one or the other side of the chain.
