XCP and OpenXenCenter
I just noticed OpenXenCenter (aka OpenXenManager) that is an open source replacement for Citrix's XenCenter. This tool works with XenServer. But as per the blog entry: http://blog.xen.org/index.php/2010/02/09/xen-cloud-platform-installation/ it is also supposed to work with Xen Cloud Platform. XCP is licensed GPL2 and is a combination of multiple packages. Has the team looked at the

Any GUI for XCP?
Hello, I am trying/evaluating XCP to manage our virtualization servers. Now, I have installed it in a test server and as far as I can see, it is very similar to XenServer, but I can''t manage it with XenCenter graphical console. Is there any GUI for XCP? I could connect with OpenXenCenter, but it still isn''t mature to be useful. Or do I have to use with xe commands? --

[XCP] new version available
[previously posted to xen-devel@ and xen-api@ but this might be of interest to xen-users@ too] Hi, I''ve refreshed the Xen Cloud Platform (XCP) .isos on xen.org with a new development snapshot (labelled version 0.1.1). XCP is a collaborative effort to build a complete cloud infrastructure platform, complete with a powerful management stack, standards-based APIs, support for multi-tenancy

Bug#738322: RM: xen-api and friends -- ROM; non maintained upstream
Package: ftp.debian.org Severity: normal Hi, Writting this message saddens me, but no choice... Because upstream authors (eg: Citrix) have explained that they cannot maintain the current version of XenAPI, or upgrade it to a newer version, we have no choice but to remove completely XenAPI from both Unstable and Testing. Quoting Euan Harris from Citrix (it's not needed for the FTP masters

XCP vs XenServer (free edition) or is it XCP mature enough?
Hello, I am a system manager of a datacenter. Is this moment, we about 30-40 xen servers running 2 or 3 domUs each of them. We are now using (standalone) xen over debian lenny. We manage each xen server independently, but we are looking for a central management console. At this moment, I have the doubt about using citrix xenserver (the free edition) or XCP. I didn''t know much

XCP - xenserver tools required?
One of the issues I''ve had using XenServer in a multitenant environment is the requirement for the VMs to have xentools installed as it causes significant issues when upgrading the VM OS or the pool from one version of XenServer (XCP) to another. Having to touch hundreds VMs (by hand) after an upgrade just doesn''t scale nor is delegating the task to VM owners an option.

XCP French keymap problem
Hi everyone, has anyone succeded to get something else than plain qwerty keyboard layout on XCP? I have a French layout keyboard and I can''t get the mapping to be ok in the VMs, weither it be linux PV or windows HVM. I first tried with openxencenter (very good software by the way), then with the xcp xapi debug web page applet, then with ssh port forwarding, and I always get the same

[XCP] XCP 1.6 Upgrade and Functionality Questions
I have a couple of questions regarding XCP: First, there were rumblings that there are issues upgrading XCP (1.5 -> 1.6)? Any further detail on these potential issues, or what needs to be done to get around them? Second, it previous versions of XCP there were tricks that had to be played (documented on the Wiki) to make XenCenter believe that XCP was actually a modern version of XenServer,

Hi, I am trying to install openxencenter to control my VMs I followed the instructions but when I tried to start it I got:  File "window.py", line 44, in <module>     import gtkvnc ImportError: No module named gtkvnc does any one face this problem before. XCP unattend install-answerfile error
hi,guys I try to install XCP using answerfile. I made all the environment needed well, and it works well without answerfile. However, there are so many machines to be installed, so I want to install it via unattended way. So i write a answerfile by copying the example of the manual. ------------------> label xenserver-auto kernel xenserver/mboot.c32 append xenserver/xen.gz dom0_mem=752M

System Requirements for Samba?
Hi Rob, I'm not sure you will get much pleasure out of VirtualBox on that hardware. It sits completely on top of the OS and it will grab most of the resources, even hogging from the OS. And it will run very hot. The Xen hypervisor (incl. XenServer, XCP-NG) is very resource efficient and with Linux guests (PV or PVHVM), it will run very smoothly. The same applies to KVM. My FX-6300 box

Just to throw it out there, there's also XCP-NG which is a rebranded (w/o Citrix) version of XenServer without all of the proprietary bits. The same people also produce

I would like to dedicate all of the local storage to hosting VMs only. Looking at xen/xenserver/xcp doc, i was wondering why there''s so few tutorial on installing them on usb

Bug#682216: Bug #682216 document about VLAN configuration on dom0
Hi, After reading XenServer documents and debugging, I found the previous configuration is correct, here is the one I've configured to work: In XCP, as in XenServer, system's network configuration doesn't really matter, it only make sense before XCP starts and handles the network settings. So there is no need to configure VLAN on host machine, and you only need a minimal one active

[XCP] ocfs2 support?
I see on the XCP roadmap that ocfs2 is in the plans. Can anyone give a guess on how long that might be? Would I be correct assume that would allow you to use sparse files on XCP when using ocfs2? I looked at XenServer this week and converting my existing sles domU''s from my current sles server is not easy. Since XenServer and XCP seem pretty close, will it be any easier with XCP?
