CentOS 5 + Nforce 4 SLI Intel SATA problems
I've been having an extremely hard time using the on board SATA controller on my nvidia based board. I have two 160gig Maxtor SATA drives attached to the on board controller, setup as software raid0. The problem is the array is extremely unreliable, where I'm getting constant I/O errors like: sd 0:0:0:0: SCSI error: return code = 0x00040000 end_request: I/O error, dev sda, sector

pv_ops dom0 testing
I am trying to get a pv_ops dom0 working for testing, but I am running into an elf_init error: (XEN) *** LOADING DOMAIN 0 *** (XEN) elf_init: not an ELF binary Full output attached. >From what I have read on the mailing lists, it seems that it is usually a problem with either grub or a corrupt dom0 kernel. Attached is my kernel config (2.6.28-rc6-tip). I followed the instructions on:

CentOS 6.4 installation fails with message "No usable disks have been found"
Hi folks, I inherited a very old computer (I guess about 8 years old) which I'd like to use for some training on CentOS. I downloaded images for CentOS 6.4 i386 (DVD 1 and 2) and burned them onto discs. After inserting DVD 1 into drive and booting, on the "Welcome to CentOS 6.4!" screen I select "Install or upgrade an existing system". I then skip the media test and

Disk errors on CentOS 5 - libata bug?
I just installed CentOS 5 on a computer. On boot, I get the a error message, related to 2 SATA disks. These errors did NOT appear on version 4.4 with the EXACT same hardware. Despite the error messages, the disks seem to be working with no problems. Could someone please tell me what these error are and if there is some known way to prevent them? I searched the Net for these errors and they seem

IOMMU and AMD 890fx
Hi, All the reviews for the AMD 890fx chipset reported that it supports IOMMU v1.2. But I cannot find any mention of that on AMD site. Does 890fx support IOMMU? Do 890fx motherboards with IOMMU exist? Does Xen support 890fx? Slow performance
Hi folks. I'm posting this to both the Fedora as well as the CentOS lists in hopes that somewhere, someone can help me figure out what's going on. I have a dual Xeon 3GHz server that's performing rather slow when it comes to disk activities. The machine is configured with a single 160 GiB OS drive (with CentOS 5.0) and 4x500 GiB drives setup in a RAID-5 configuration.

How do I check if the proper sata drivers are being loaded? If they are not what can I do other then rebuilding the kernel? Thank you in advance, Randy _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

modern motherboard for centos-5
I'm considering upgrading, and am trying to choose a modern motherboard that nevertheless fully works with Centos5/RHEL5. Though I'm partial to AMD processors, and would like to use one in my new configuration, that's not a requirement, if the most appropriate board happens to be intel-compatible. However, given the way ASUS is dumping LInux and crawling more firmly into bed with

SATA DVD Burner / AHCI / CentOS 4.7 (kernel: 2.6.9-78.0.22.EL)
OK, it seems that the kernel I have (stock CentOS 4.7: 2.6.9-78.0.22.EL i686) seems to gronk the nVideo SATA controller in AHCI mode. It is NOT able to deal with the SATA DVD Burner I have. It is a "Sony Optiarc DVD Burner with LightScribe Black SATA Model AD-7241S-0B LightScribe Support". Is there some special magic I need to do? Here is the relevant bit from the boot up (SATA ports

hardware issues? driver issues?
Got a bunch of servers from Penguin. Supermicro m/b's H8QG6. We put a 3tb drive in for additional workspace for the users, and some of them won't read, others will go for weeks, then spit out DRDY errors. lshw shows the controller as an ATI SB7x0/SB8x0/SB9x0 SATA. I did notice that it shows *-storage description: SATA controller product: SB7x0/SB8x0/SB9x0 SATA

3.0.4 ACPI support and Opteron 2210 ?
Hello, I originally posted this to xen-users, but someone suggested I post it here. I am having ACPI problems on a PenguinComputing Altus1600 system. It has 2x dual core Opteron 2210 processors. The system boots with a standard Debian or Ubuntu SMP kernel, with ACPI enabled. However the xen live cd, binary xen install, as well as my own custom compile of xen 3.0.4 from source will not boot.

Freeze with 2.6.32.19 and xen-4.0.1rc5
Hi, i have big trouble with a Debian Lenny dom0 and latest kernel 2.6.32.19 with xen-4.0.1rc5. Due some reason the system freezes from time to time. I used kernel 2.6.31.9 with xen-3.4.2 before. The machine doesn''t write anything to serial console so there are no errors or something like that. Perhaps there is something to see from the logs ... Hardware Board: Intel DQ45CB CPU:

recognizing correct number of cores on CPU
I just installed centos 5.5 x86_64 on a new HP laptop. It has the core i5 processor. only 1 cpu is detected should be 2. This has happened before. Is upstream not keeping up with new processors released and updating the kernel? I'd rather not go through the process again of putting a newer kernel on the machine and having something different out there than "stock" centos. Jerry

Problem with secondary sata controller
I am having problems getting my 64-bit Debian Squeeze (Xen version 4.0, Linux Kernel 2.6.32) dom0 to recognize a harddrive connected to a secondary sata controller. My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-X79-UP4 and has two sata controllers. The first is controlled by an Intel X79 chipset and the second is controlled by a Marvell 88SE9172 chip. During the initial install of Debian everything is fine and
