Does anyone using dm-cache?
Hi,
Has, or does, anyone use dm-cache - specifically for caching SAN based
storage locally?
I'm looking for a way to speed up SAN based storage on a CentOS 5.6 +
XEN Hypervisor which uses iSCSI mounted SAN storage. dm-cache seems
like it do the trick, but I've never heard of it before until someone
mentioned it in another mailing list. A quick search on google didn't

normal internet / network access. i.e. I need SSH, Mutt, Links, lynx,

how to control Hard Drive light from Linux?
Hi all,
Does anyone know how to control a hard drive light from Linux? I'm
building a 24bay Linux File server which will run software RAID and I

Most of our NAS devices has 2 lights on the hard drive cages and they
automatically signal a bad one (reg light, light constant on , etc)
but I can't figure out how todo this from

[CORRECTED] Postfix SMTP authentication on remote relay serve
Sorry about the previous post, I see the subject had a typo. So here's
the correct one :)
Does anyone know how to configure Postfix to use SMTP authentication
on a relay host?
i.e. I have a Linux server, running PostFix on an ADSL line with a
dynamic IP. Thus I can't just send out emails from this server but
need to relay it via our ISP's SMTP server, which is very unreliable.

looking for a decent free / Open Source flash media server
Hi all,
I hope someone can help me with this one. I am looking for a decent

and not within any reasonable cost range (R40K+).
The Fladh Media Server uses the RMTP

I have a CentOS 5.1 x64 server, running Xen version 3.1.0-53.1.21.el5 &

layer 8 / user level firewall on linux?
Hi all,
Does anyone know of a Linux firewall that offers layer 8 firewall /
user level firewalling? Cyberoam
(http://www.cyberoam.com/firewall.html) has a layer 8 firewall built
into their UTM firewalls, and while it's a great product I find it a
bit limited for what I want.
I basically want to track which user access what on the internet, from
an internal network. Ideally I want to limit

Hi,
My firefox (Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.1.6)

website(s) I'm busy with, it will just crash.
Does anyone know how to check for a

How, if possible, do I only show a user's quota limits when he logs into
SSH?
For example, I set a soft limit of 10GB on this user, but when he logs in he

what provices "replace" command?
I am used to using the replace command to quickly replace strings in

"yum info replace", "yum whatprovides replace", and "yum search

does anyone know which package to install to get the "replace"

CentOS 6 domU on Debian 6 dom0 not working

Has anyone managed to get CentOS 6 domU (i.e. guest) working on a Debian 6 do0?
Both OS''s are 32bit and I''m running XEN 4.0.1 with HVM support.
A CentOS 5.6 domU works fine on this very same server though.
When I start CentOS 6, I get the following error:

using CentOS as an iSCSI server?
Has anyone succesfully setup, and used CentOS as an iSCSI server? I'm
trying to setup a server with 4x500GB HDD's, setup in RAID 10 to act
