Xen domU crashes accessing to drbd disk if using maxmem.
Hello all,
I''ve just installed a new dom0 with openSUSE 11.3 (x86_64)
and I''m seeing domUs crashes when reading from disks.
The problem occours when in domU configuration I use
memory=1024
maxmem=2048
My setup is DRBD on LVM on Software RAID 10 and drbd
devices are used as disks for domUs, using
phy:/dev/drbd0,hda,w
phy:/dev/drbd1,hdb,w
The domU in test is HVM, I''m

What does Maxmem do?
Howdy,
I''ve read on
http://revu.tauware.de/revu1-incoming/xen-0604251805/xen-3.0.2/docs/misc/xen_config.html
about the maxmem option? What it do?
I don''t see any result... I ''ve thought that the memory will
automatically scaled to maxmem... but xm top show only 128 mb reserver
for the guest machine also during high loads.
greetings

Missing memory when using maxmem
I am trying to allow domains'' memory allocation to be altered by using
both the "memory" and "maxmem" options in my config files (i.e. set
maxmem to some large value to allow the domain to be resized up to that
amount, and memory to set the initial allocation).
However I appear to lose potentially quite a large chunk of memory as I
use a larger "maxmem"

using maxmem
Hi,
I am using xen 4.0.1 from debian Squeeze repositories and dom0 has
kernel 2.6.32-5-xen-amd64(also stock debian).
I wanted to set a high value to maxmem in my xmdomain.cfg vm config
files so that I can increase memory as needed without rebooting.
Unfortunately as soon as I set this paramater I see really wiered things.
For example, I am trying to install a windows HVM guest. When maxmem is

It seems to be a problem with kernel... I use the kernel-ml there
(5.5.6)... with kernel from centos-virt repo (4.9.*) it works without
this problem...

Hi,
I''ve been using xen for a number of years now without issues, but now

Dom0 freeze on HVM DomU Windows reboot with VGA passthrough
Hi,
I''m doing VGA passthrough for an ATI (HD 6770) graphics card to
a DomU Windows. The passthrough itself is working. However, everytime
when I reboot the DomU Windows, the whole machine freezes.
I see no error messages from Dom0 kernel or the xen qemu log
(or perhaps I haven''t got the most verbose debugging turned on?).
Though from what I can tell, the the freeze happens

AW: Using serial port from a domU
Just something to be added:
- This procedure doesn''t work with a Fedora 9 DomU
- Maybe you have to blacklist some modules in the Dom0: AFAIK you have to rmmod (better: blacklist on boot using modprobe.conf) these modules: serial_core 8250 and 8250_pnp

hi
I'm using rsync version 2.5.6.
When i try to connect from a remote computer for example with,
rsync -e ssh root@192.168.0.5::
it connects and tells me what paths are available.
But when i want to connect with a normal user
rsync -e ssh user@192.168.0.5::
it tells me following error message:
rsync: unable to open configuration file "rsyncd.conf": No such file or directory

AW: problems with Iptables in DomU
Christian,
make sure your domU Kernel Modules under /lib/modules/<KernelVersion> have the same vermagic and modversion as
your domU Kernel ! Or try loading the ipt_filter module manually with "modprobe -f" also see "man modprobe"
