GNBD and DRBD kernel mods
Hi all, I am using heartbeat and drbd on CentOS 5 (see http://www.centos.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=7816&forum=41 for details).. DRBD and heartbeat are working, and now I want to put GNBD on top on this. However, I installed the latest CentOS-plus kernel (2.6.18-8.1.8.el5.centos.plus) but there doesn't appear to be a kmod-gndb for this kernel. Looks like the latest

[Project Kronos] XAPI on Debian
Hi All, I tried again with XAPI on Debian last night and this time things went far smoother... I managed to boot into the Xen kernel, xe is working and the XAPI daemon appears to be running. However, I am having trouble connecting to XAPI from XenCenter... it just says the connection was refused without any meaningful errors and nothing in the logs on either side. I can ping the Xen machine from

XCP bandwidth management
Hi all, I''ve got XCP 1.0 up and running nicely and would like to use it in production. However I''m struggling with the concept of bandwidth management. It seems like such a common problem that everyone must have, but I can''t find any clear direction in which to go. The dedicated host I am using (Hetzner) gives me a 5TB monthly bandwidth quota which needs to be shared

lvm over nbd?
I have a system with a large LVM VG partition. I was wondering if there is a way i could share the partition using nbd and have the nbd-client have access the LVM as if it was local. SYSTEM A: /dev/sda3 is a LVM partition and is assigned to VG volgroup1. I want to share /dev/sda3 via nbd-server SYSTEM B: receives A''s /dev/sda3 as /dev/nbd0. I want to access it as VG volgroup1. Xen reboots on dom-U disk stress...
Hi all I tried to run bonnie++ disk stresser in dom-U, who''s disk is backed with non-local (on nfs) loop-back file. The machine rebooted pretty quickly. So, how do I tell what''s barfing? Is it Xen? Is it dom-0 (nfs or loop-back)? I looked in dom-0''s /var/log/messages and didn''t see any obvious record of a dom-0 whoopsie (but is that the right place to look

[XCP/Kronos/XenSource] Fast cloning with copy-on-write
I''ve just been playing with XenSource and Kronos packages, but the fast cloning ability from XenServer doesn''t appear to be available. Where does this come from exactly, is it something built into Xen or is there a component of XenServer that''s needed to handle it? I was hoping to use Xen on Debian with my web app controlling it using either XAPI or Libvirt, but I

CentOS 5 centosplus kernel + kmod-gfs
On CentOS 5, the current centosplus kernel doesn't want to play with the kmod-gfs package (because kmod-gfs wants the stock kernel): # yum install kmod-gfs gives me: Transaction Check Error: package kernel-2.6.18-8.1.14.el5.centos.plus (which is newer than kernel-2.6.18-8.1.14.el5) is already installed Should it work, or is there a separate centosplus build that I've not

After reading Cal Henderson''s article on Vitamin Serving Javascript Fast<http://synthesis.sbecker.net/articles/2006/06/03/www.thinkvitamin.com/features/webapps/serving-javascript-fast>I was immediately inspired to create a plugin to easily facilitate this in Ruby on Rails. I whipped up most of it right then, and finally got around to polishing it for release today. Told myself I

Security on long distance calls
Hello, which kind of method could you use to inhibit long distance calls to _some_ extensions? Is there a way to do it with freepbx or you have to do it manually in the config files? I wouldn't like to set a route password, because that is not confortable for the pbx operator. I just would like the operator being able to call whatever number, while the extensions should only be able to

Question on Mail Formats
Hi, I am still tuning my dovecot, but I find myself very confortable with it. I am going to structure my imap folder with a new namespace (somthing you cannot do with GMail :) and I can choose the mailbox format. What is the difference between the two mailbox format "mbox" and "maildir"? I know mbox is older, but there is a good reason to use maildir instead? I can get for

MuSE is GPL'ed software. Is that title dynamic (ie: does it change per song to list the song name)? Or is it a one time static thing? Louis --- >8 ---- List archives:

and tell me that it is possible to make icecast broadcast titles or id3 tags. I refuse to believe that you all can talk so fondly of a program that gives you the ability to make a radiostation but not tell its listeners what is on the air.. That is just too weird.. So what do YOU do to tell people what they are listening to? Arvid www.playrec.dk -for all kinds of good music ICQ# 724069 ---

New to XEN
Hello to all. I’m new to Xen and virtualization. We are a small business, with up to 10 users. In order to reduce our TCO, I’m thinking on installing virtual machines to cut down costs and maintenance. 1) A 10/100/1000 network to which 1 virtual machine server attached 2) The different virtual server to run in it are : a. MS Windows 2003/2008 Domain controller, DHCP and

trying to understand OSS, GPL, BSD & other licensing model for software distribution.
Hi all, We are busy developing some software (some is web based, others not) and I am having a bit of hard time understanding (or rather, choosing) a license model to work with, We will offer some free software (PHP based scripts, and even Windows based applications) and for this I'm sure the GPL, or even LGPL (for the network side?) will work fine. But, we also need to suppose these
