Patch lovin'' for #2018? ("rake appdoc fails on Windows systems")
Gurus (Guri? heh), We got burned today by #2018 ("rake appdoc fails on Windows systems"), and did a bunch of ferreting around (starting at the problems in rdoc, rake, rdoc.bat) and ultimately came back to the conclusion that the cleanest way to fix the problem is just a variation on a suggestion already posted in that ticket. I wrote up a patch against trunk from the suggestion there and

Layout Question w/ code from vendor library
I am new to Ruby on Rails in general and apologize if this question is trivial and/or has been asked before ( my searches did not turn up any threads ). I am using the cookies function from actionpack which I have located in my vendor/rails/actionpack directory. Using: cookies[:username] and cookies[:password] from within a controller file works just fine, I am able to set and read

any way to add documents to the rake appdoc task?
I would like to include other documents in the doc directory in my documentation, most likely linked from the README_FOR_APP. Is there an easy way to say "in addition to my app, rdoc everything in doc/*". -Kelly -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... form_remote_tag can only have one submit button?
I setup a form_remote_tag with several submit buttons, all of them share the same name ( ''do_action'' ) and their values differ. eg. button1 named do_action with value ACTION1 button2 named do_action with value ACTION2, etc No matter which button I press the value passed is always the one defined for the first of these buttons ( the correct value associated with the pressed

rake error
I installed at least one gem since I thought I actually once was able to run ''rake appdoc'' command since there is an api for my models and the ez_where plugin that I installed earlier. I wanted to see the api for pdf-writer which is the gem that I installed most recently. (no, I haven''t given up the issue of ''looping'' that Kevin and some others replied

Can''t see documentation after executing "rake appdoc"
I successfully got rake appdoc to work on the depot application (after manually applying the patch for rake 0.70). Everything appears to generate fine, but I can''t pull up the documentation in my browser. I''ve tried: http://localhost:3000/doc/app/ http://localhost:3000/doc/app/index.html I always get: Recognition failed for "/doc/app/" with

form_remote_tag : additional onsubmit funct. possible ?
Is there a way to add onsubmit functionality to a form_remote_tag with an additional javascript directive? eg I''d like for an inline javascript to make the form''s div container hidden as soon as the button is pressed to avoid having it possibly get pressed again ( sometimes the rails response is slow enough for a user to think they need to re-press it ). example: <div

getting line breaks with xtable
Sorry, for asking the same question again, but I got no reactions the last time. Maybe it was just overseen by the experts. I'm using the xtable function with Sweave and Lyx and I would like to know how to get automatic line breaks for long strings in a column of the table. I've learned from the Lyx wiki that the Latex command \linebreak produces table cells with multiple lines. I tried to

Where to point the browser to for appdoc documentation
Under windows XP I created a batch file in the depot directory this takes care of generating the application documentation. The default rake appdoc isn''t working under windows right now (remove the -T option). So, where do I point my browser to (so that I can view the new generated application documentation)? Running gem_server didn''t help so far... listing doc.bat rdoc -o

Sweave does not respect width
Hello, I'm learning to use Sweave, and I've run into a problem: sometimes, when entering long lines of input and using long variable names, Sweave will not insert linebreaks in a way that respects the width setting. This causes undesirable overflows into the margins in the latex file. For example, consider the following document (adapted from the GLM example): \documentclass{article}

Q: periodically_call_remote ( how to make it execute just once? )
I posted this ealier on the web forums but noticed a similar question about this function and one user responded to try this list instead. If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate your suggestions. Q: Is there a way to use periodically_call_remote to run just one time instead of every '':frequency'' seconds? I tried putting the call inside the div container thinking it

Confusion with expressing many to many relationship
Hi folks, I am in the process of converting an existing non-rails application to rails, and am not sure what the best approach would be for specifying the relationship between the two sets of data. I''ll describe the existing table structures first. Table 1: Urls Each url has a unique id and two lists of Phrases, these are currently setup as varchars with "," delimitation -

rails-1.0.0 gem rdoc problem
Just got a brand new install of ruby-1.8.4 and new gems downloaded, specifically rails-1.0.0. Seems rails does not generated rdoc for gem_server. Looking into the problem, it seems that there is an error when doing ''rake rdoc'' for rails-1.0.0. % rake rdoc (in /opt/local/ruby-1.8.4/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/rails-1.0.0) rm -r doc unrecognized option `--line-numbers --inline-source

I''m new to ROR, and am working my way through the Agile Web Development Book. In the test application, the authors tell me to test my database connection by performing "rake db:migrate". When I do, I get the error "Don''t know how to build task ''db:migrate''" I''ve been looking around at the files, and I see a reference to a

Plotting symbols with two positions?
Thanks a lot to Demitris for a prompt answer some minutes ago on another tread (see below). To avoid excess mails on the list, I move onto next question: I have another small plotting problem that confuses me. I want to plot results from a field trial series, using the numbers of the trials as symbols in the plot. pch = as.character(trial_no) works fine, but truncates the trial number to the
