I am trying to install CentOS from an ISO image file but the installer does
not see a CD-ROM drive. The VNC viewer works but the CentOS installer
indicates "Unable to find any devices of the type needed for this

PV Lenny 32 bits into 64 bits dom0 - Grub / kernel problem
Hello,
I can''t solve my problem. I want a 32 bits Lenny domU into a 64 bits
Lenny dom0.
I plan to use pygrub for that (xen 3.2.1).
So, I tried to debootstrap a 32 bits domU into a 64 bits dom0.
debootstrap --arch=i386
--include=libc6-xen,firmware-bnx2,linux-image-2.6.26-1-xen-686,linux-modules-xen-686,linux-image-xen-686,grub

Migrating from KVM to XEN - kernel panic
First let me say that I'm not a sysadmin, but am simply wearing that hat
this week so please excuse my ignorance. I need to temporarily move some
virtual servers from a CentOS-KVM platform to a CentOS-XEN platform while I
do some upgrades to the CentOS box. I've created a local LV, and used DD
and SCP to transfer the block device from the VKM machine to the XEN
machine. For quite a

Bug#745419: xen-utils-4.1: Pygrub fails to boot from LVM LV when something installed in the volume boot record
Package: xen-utils-4.1
Version: 4.1.4-3+deb7u1
Severity: important
When an LVM LV that serves as the root disk for a Xen DomU contains a boot
loader (or possibly other data) in its volume boot record, pygrub fails to boot
it, printing "Error: boot loader didn't return any data" before exiting.
I think this is because of the function "is_disk_image" on line 45 of

Xen PV domU reported as Xen-HVM
Hello,
I am running two dom0s, one on CentOS 5 with Xen 4.1.2 (from Gitco) and the
other one on CentOS 6 with Xen 4.2.4 (from Xen4CentOS). I host one LVM
based domU on both from the same template (CentOS 6 PV) with the same Xen
config (see below). However, the domU on Xen 4.1 reports itself as Xen PV
while the domU on Xen4CentOS reports itself as Xen HVM.

PVGrub can''t find config file for domU on logical volume
After hours of googling and not really finding a definitive solution to my
problem, I''m a little stuck and would really appreciate some help from
others.
I have a CentOS 5.4 x86-64 server running Xen 3.3 from the gitco repos as
dom0. On this I have created two logical volumes comprising 8GB for the
system disk (xvda) and 1.5GB for swap (xvdb). I ran mkfs.ext3 and mkswap

xen3 domU on xen4 dom0
Greetings!
Trying to to run a xen3 domU on a xen4 dem0 I run into problems.
The xen server ''XEN1''(dom0) is openSUSE-11.3 (kernel 2.6.34) and xen-4.0.1.
With qemu I created an image ''M08.raw'' from the SUSE-9.3
(kernel 2.6.11) and XEN-3.0 installation CD''s.
The XEN modules were included in the installation.
In M08.raw/boot I configured grub/menu.lst:

Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init!
Hello everyone,
I''m quite a newbie with Xen and I''m currently having an issue.
I run Xen 4 on Debian Squeeze x64 and I''m trying to build an OpenFiler DomU from the Xen domU filesystem tarbal they provide (See http://www.openfiler.com/community/download/).
I downloaded the tarball and run ''tar xzpvf /root/soft/openfiler-2.3-x86_64.tar.gz'' to extract

cannot boot guest VM
Hi,
I''m trying to boot a PV VM I just installed (following http://wiki.xen.org/wiki/Debian_Guest_Installation_Using_Debian_Installer) without success.
My XEN installation is xen-unstable 54c8c9eaee92+ on a Debian unstable machine (x86_64), kernel 3.3.4+. The VM I installed is, again, a Debian unstable x86_64. The installation went smoothly; I used an 8GB file as a disk back-end. I went
