Xen network problems on domU shutdown
Hi, I''m new to XEN and have the following Problem: If I shutdown my domU the network of the dom0 leaks. A ping from another server to my xen dom0 shows a Packetloss > 80%. Then if I restart the domU after some seconds the ping show a loss from 0%. I retryed that 3 times but it is really hard to go to the dom0 via ssh and recreate the domU if the packetloss is that high. I used google

Console and disk-devicenames in DomU on Lenny?
Hi, I've tried to setup a new DomU on Lenny and I'm a little bit confused on which device names I should use for disks and console in the various DomU-kernels? Is it correct that: 2.6.18-xen-kernel from Etch start with no "extra" tty1 in /etc/inittab /dev/sd for disks 2.6.26-xen-kernel from Lenny: start with no "extra" hvc0 in /etc/inittab /dev/xvd for disks

very slow I/O performance in domU
I''ve got a Debian Lenny Dom0 with Debian''s 2.6.26 Xen paravirt_ops kernel and a Debian Lenny DomU. xen-hypervisor is Debian''s 3.2.1 package. The dom0 has two dual core Opteron CPUs without hardware virtualisation support. In the domU I/O performance is very bad. In the dom0, I get about 46 MB/s: # dd if=/dev/zero of=/root/zeroes bs=20M count=20 20+0 records in 20+0

Reproducible HVM DomU reboot Xen3.2 (Debian Stable)
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, I''ve been using xen for a number of years now without issues, but now have a problem. First, the problem: I have a Windows Server 2008 Standard 64bit DomU, I''ve installed a number of applications, and it works quite well and runs stable for weeks at a time so far (ie, has never crashed yet). AW: debian Lenny -> Squeeze domU mdX software raidmigration - failed to assemble arrays
Hi, to make transitions more convenient, I've done this by using uuid instead of device names. If you ls -l /dev/disk/by-uuid inside your domU, you'll see something like lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 5. Mai 07:38 39a2a64b-0716-47ad-92f4-a7437cac54ee -> ../../sda2 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 5. Mai 07:38 e8b97b59-a790-417c-8231-fe8da8b6e6ee -> ../../sda1 In /etc/fstab inside the domU,

domU freezes with new 2.6.26 kernel
Hello, I have a problem since upgrading to the latest debian xen-kernel. In one of my domUs I had clamav installed. Every time I start clamav/reboot the domU it freezes and, seen from the dom0, in the domU something takes 100% of CPU. The only modifications I made were - the upgrade of the kernel from 2.6.18-xen-vserver-amd64 to 2.6.26-1-xen-amd64 - I added the following line to the file config

Networking domU > Internet ping gives "destination host unreachable"
Hello @all, thanks for all the helpfull answers in this mailing list. They helped me compiling a new kernel 2.6.10.11 with Xen 2.0.6 (my first one), setting up a dom0 with RAID, LVM and loop devices for domU, integrating a second network as xen-br1 (I''m calling the /etc/xen/scripts/network script from within /etc/init.d/xend to bring up / down the second bridge.) and bootstrapping

Debian DomU with physdev access init kernel crash ....
Hi Folks, I saw some references to the same problem in mailing list but no solution. I am running a DomU with PHYSDEV access. With fedora core 4, I just changed the inittab file to not start getty''s on tty1-6, and it worked (only ttyS0 is enabled). However, same trick didn''t do it for debian. I can boot into a shell if I put init=/bin/bash on kernel command line. However,

Xen 3.2 @ Debian 5.0 / Debian 4.0 DomU crashes daily
Hello, on my xen host, Debian 5.0 I have few domU''s running, most of them are Lenny''s, a couple is running at Etch (Debian 4.0). All domU''s are running stable except of one (Etch / Debian 4.0). This one crashes almost daily and I wasn''t able figure out the reason why. Inside the domU there is nothing installed except of base system and Zimbra ZCS 5.0 and its

SEM Model Not Converging
I'm trying to build a SEM using the sem package. I'll attach my model specification below. When I turn debug=TRUE, it seems as if I'm getting to convergence because I get this message: Successive iterates within tolerance. Current iterate is probably solution. However, at the end of the process I get this message: Warning message: In sem.default(ram = ram, S = S, N = N,

Match between Dom0 and DomU PV
I have a bit of a Xen theory question. I have a Debian 5 Lenny x64 Dom0 currently running two DomUs. One is an x64 built via Xen-tools, and it seems to be running great. The second (known as Alpha) is having some troubles, as I mentioned in my post "Ubuntu 8.04 DomU crash" to this list on 5/12/09. It is an x86/32 Ubuntu 8.04 that started life as an HVM and was rebuilt into a PV where

Problems with booting Debian DomU
I''m running Xen 3.2 on Debian 5.0 (Lenny) and am having trouble booting up a Debian Etch DomU. It hangs at the end when it says "Starting periodic command scheduler: cron." It''s just completely frozen. At one point I set it sit for a few hours and got back into the console and it said something about "time went backwards" but I used the
