xenfs, platform-pci. I used Xen 4.0.2-rc1-pre and a DomU is a ubuntu 10.04
and I try with ubuntu 10.10.
In boot I receive error "Cannot find a root partition /dev/xvda2" and a

recover zpool with a new installation
Hi all,
I lost my storage because rpool don''t boot. I try to recover, but
opensolaris says to "destroy and re-create".
My rpool installed on flash drive, and my pool (with my info) it''s on
another disks.
My question is: It''s possible I reinstall opensolaris in new flash drive,
without stirring on my pool of disks, and recover this pool?
Thanks.
Regards,

why are qemu-img and vhd-util created files incompatible?
I was wondering if someone can shed some light on why vhd files
created with qemu-img don''t really work right with vhd-util and
consequentially blktap in general. To validate the incompatiblity its
simple enough to do
qemu-img create -f vpc test.vhd 40g
vhd-util snapshot -n child.vhd -p test.vhd
Which will show the below and then the headers don''t display the BATMAP summary:

simple plot in ggplot2, wrong error bars
I was wondering if anyone could help me with this, simple problem.
I am essentially following the example on Hadley's webpage
(http://had.co.nz/ggplot2/geom_errorbar.html), but it still doesn't make any
sense to me.
df <- data.frame(trt = factor(c("intact", "intact", "removed", "removed")),

[PATCH] vhd-util create: add -C|nocow option
Add ''-C'' (nocow) option to vhd-util create.
Btrfs has terrible performance when hosting VM images, even more when the guest
in those VM are also using btrfs as file system. One way to mitigate this bad
performance is to turn off COW attributes on VM files (since having copy on
write for this kind of data is not useful). According to ''chattr'' manpage, NOCOW

Encrypted volume - how?
Hi all,
I'm looking for a way to recreate the functionality of PGP Disk (under
Win32). Basically, create an encrypted file, which contains a filesystem
which can then be mounted in any mount point.
I know I can use GELI in FreeBSD 6 - as I understand, it performs the
encryption at the partition level (the whole partition is encrypted).
I'd like to be able to simply unmount my

what does the sum of square of Gaussian RVs with differen t variance obey?
This is a relatively recent article that is somewhat accessible.
Jensen, D. R., and Solomon, Herbert (1994), "Approximations to joint
distributions of definite quadratic forms", Journal of the American
Statistical Association, 89 , 480-486
It has references to previous work.
I also have an old paper that is so old I can't tell what journal it came
out of:(

A statistical problem.Anybody can help me?
Sorry for the contents not relating to R.
Assume there are N i.i.d zero-mean complex gaussian random
variables(RVs),as w(i),0<=i<N} with known variance,from which one
can generate another N RVs,as
R(0)=sum over i {w(i)*w'(i)}
R(1)=sum over i {w(i+1)*w'(i)}
...
up to
R(N-1)= w(N-1)w'(i)
where w'(i) is the complex conjugate of w(i).

Windows 7 .vhd "The version does not support this version of the file format" error
I searched the archives for this particular error message, and only found
one match from a user doing backups from Windows Server 2008 R2.
I'm running FreeBSD 7.2 with (initially) SAMBA 3.3.9 from the FreeBSD
Ports Collection. I have a very simple config (included below).
The client is Windows 7 Ultimate x64 (RTM version w/ all Windows updates
applied).

what does the sum of square of Gaussian RVs with different variance obey?
>From basic statistics principle,we know, given several i.i.d Gaussian RVs with zero or nonzero mean, the sum of square of them is a central or noncentral Chi-distributed RV.However if these Gaussian RVs have different variances, what does the sum of square of them obey?

RCAPI ISDN Support
Hello.
It seems very very strange to me that nobody talks about connecting ISDN
lines to asterisk using a device with RCAPI Support.
There are some devices (most of them isdn routers, like the famous Cisco 800
family) that support this protocol. It basically is an ISDN to IP gateway.
There used to be software that used this technology to send and receive
faxes, act as voicemail and even ISDN

vhd to xen img file (not using xenserver)
Is there a way to convert a Virtual PC vhd file to a raw img file for Xen
without using XenServer ? I found a v2v utility from Starwind that converts
to an .img format, but I don''t know if it is the same as the format that Xen
uses. I ran the conversion and tried it under Xen, but could not get the
console to come up, and had to destroy the domu to get that domain to shut
down. I expect

Open xen support for .vhd files
