Wanted: XCP 1.1 tutorial for creating VMs from scratch using xe CLI
Hello, It is nearly not possible to use XCP without a tutorial, in particular if ones has to use the xe CLI. Reading of reference.pdf and guests.pdf of XenServer and different wiki pages didn''t help enough. Even *XCP seems to be a very good software* it will be useless without good documentation because of it''s complexity. Thank you in advance for any hints. Regards, Mark

XCP: VM installation in XCP 0.5 is behaving strangely
Hi, all I''m totally new to XCP, so maybe i misunderstood the documentation. I tried to create Debian Squeeze (64-bit) and Ubuntu 10.04 from templates and install them from network installation. For Debian Squeeze (64-bit), I did the followings: 1. First ssh login into XCP host 2. xe vm-install template="Debian Squeeze (64-bit)" new-name-label=lenny-64-netinstall

"No text console available" when trying to get the console of a just created VM from a template on XCP
Hi there, I am trying to set up XCP on Ubuntu 12.04. I went through the procedure given in the README file of the xcp-xapi package and reached the point where the hypervisor seems to be running fine. I set up a VM using the Debian Squeeze (64bit) template and started it, giving a Debian mirror URL as install-repository. Running "xe vm-list" reports that the machine is running, but when

Bug#677614: xcp-xapi: someone should create /etc/default/xen
Package: xcp-xapi Version: 1.3.2-6 Severity: important Looks like on Wheezy, /etc/default/xen is not created by xen-utils-common. Since xcp-xapi depends on its existence and further declaration of the toolstack in it, it should take extra care to ensure that it is present. root at debian:~# aptitude install xcp-xapi The following NEW packages will be installed: blktap-dkms{a} blktap-utils{a}

[XCP] Migration from cobbler/koan to XCP Templates
Hi All, Does anybody have any tips or suggestions for migrating from a CentOS + Xen setup and using cobbler/koan [1] for VM provisioning to an XCP setup using XCP templates (or similar) to provision VMs? cobbler/koan make use of kickstart, which It looks like XCP can do as well. Mainly, I am wondering if converting the cobbler profiles could be done automatically and reliably? Any comments,

XCP templates and thin provisioning
Hello all! This is my first mail here, so if I make some obvious mistakes, I apologise in advance. I just tried XCP in the last days and I must say that besides the standard inconveniences, it''s really cool and nice. I''m unclear about templates though, does it use standard xencenter templates? If yes, how can I install those templates that I find are missing? Do I need a

[XCP] recompiling xapi rpm changes version and licensing details.
Hi there. I needed to recompile xapi to fix a bug that was resolved regarding vdi-create not setting the sharable flag. I used the sources provided in the source-1.iso from xen.org. Everything is good in this regard, and creating a vdi that has "sharable=true" is possible, but I had a problem that forced me to revert to the older copy of the xapi binary because my XCP box was now being

Any GUI for XCP?
Hello, I am trying/evaluating XCP to manage our virtualization servers. Now, I have installed it in a test server and as far as I can see, it is very similar to XenServer, but I can''t manage it with XenCenter graphical console. Is there any GUI for XCP? I could connect with OpenXenCenter, but it still isn''t mature to be useful. Or do I have to use with xe commands? --

XCP 0.1.1, problem creating CentOS/RHEL 5.4 VMs, fixed!
Greetings all: In virgin XCP 0.1.1 (right from the install iso), a working CentOS/RHEL 5.4 VM cannot be created, despite there being a template for it. The VM can be created without error but attempting to start it results in a "no output from bootloader" message" The cause of this is a missing file in the 0.1.1 distribution. Download this file:
