high "init" load on ubuntu domu with centos dom0
I have an odd problem. I am running an ubuntu 10.04 domu that I got from stacklet on my centos 5.5/xen4.0.1 dom0. The problem is that even sitting idle the domu has a 1.05 load with init taking up 99% of that. I have searched around but have not found what is causing the issue. I thought I remembered this being mentioned on the list before but could not find it either. My domu.cfg is as

Problem with bridged network
Hello! I''ve got CentOS 5.3 x64 as dom0 and the same OS for domU. I''ve installed it using the following manual: http://www.howtoforge.com/centos_5.0_xen Guest image was taken from stacklet.com Unfortunately, I can''t make domU working with public static IP. When I use bridged networking, the guest don''t have network connection at all. When I use routed

What is the purpose setting console=hvc0 in the dom0 grub config?
Howdy, I recently went through a frustrating experience trying to get Xen 4 running on a CentOS 7 system. After a fresh install, fully updating the system, rebooting, then trying to install Xen4CentOS it would fail to boot into the 4.9 kernel, sitting there with a blinking cursor indefinitely. I thought it was a failure with grub, but it turns out this was set in the grub config:

Xen 4.0 - No console prompt after booting domU but functional SSH
Hello xen-users ! I am coming for help concerning the just released 4.0 version. Install has worked rather well on my Debian Lenny. I have just had a few bugs for which I have found the answer looking around on this list. I have created a Debian Lenny domU which boots up just fine. The only problem is that I am unable to get a console prompt when using "xm console nameofdomU". I do see

xen: Make hvc0 the preferred console in domU
This makes the Xen console just work. Before, you had to ask for it on the kernel command line with console=hvc0 Signed-off-by: Markus Armbruster <armbru at redhat.com> --- diff --git a/arch/x86/xen/enlighten.c b/arch/x86/xen/enlighten.c index 49e5358..df63185 100644 --- a/arch/x86/xen/enlighten.c +++ b/arch/x86/xen/enlighten.c @@ -25,6 +25,7 @@ #include <linux/mm.h> #include

How many guests
Hi Everyone, I have a Dell R210 server which has a Xeon X3430 Quad Core CPU (2.4Ghz x 4) with 8GB of RAM. I intend to use the H200 controller in a RAID1 setup How many VMs do you think I''d be able to run on this machine? Is 20 pushing it? I''d say most (if not all) guests would be in PV mode. Hi! I've attached my first week of work as a patchset for review. This is also available on Github [1]. By next Monday I intend to (more or less) finish up the preliminary parts concerning the codegen; and start working on the runtime (so that I can do a basic sanity check). What is the purpose setting console=hvc0 in the dom0 grub config?
Jerry, Refer to console=hvc0 from (https://wiki.xen.org/wiki/Xen_FAQ_Console)which is dedicated for domO after Xen kernel loaded, so if it hangs it means somewhere the booting process with xen is not right. Suggest you to close look at the dmsg or log for debugging. Hope that helps and cheers. Xlord On Wed, May 17, 2017 at 11:26 AM, Jerry <jerryubi at gmail.com> wrote: > Howdy, >

Bug#723656: bug 723656 - xen hvc0/ipmi console hangs
I have this happening in Ubuntu precise also. When I upgraded from 12.04.1 to 12.04.4 it looks like my ipmi/serial/hvc0 console stopped working and the last message is: (XEN) Platform timer is 14.318MHz HPET From /etc/default/grub: GRUB_DEFAULT="Xen 4.1-amd64" GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT=0 GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT_QUIET=true GRUB_TIMEOUT=10 GRUB_DISTRIBUTOR=`lsb_release -i -s 2> /dev/null || echo
