LDAP and prefetch
SunOS pop01.unix 5.10 Generic_118844-26 i86pc i386 i86pc dovecot-1.0.beta3 It is most likely something I am doing wrong, but could someone take a look at why I can not get LDAP prefetch to work? If I define things like this: dovecot.conf: ---------------------------------------------- passdb ldap { args = /usr/local/etc/dovecot-ldap.conf } userdb ldap { args =

Keeping icecast from kicking clients
I'm trying to setup Icecast so that clients can stay connected indefinately. Basically sources will connect on occasion, but may disconnect until they get instructions to connect again (think about a jukebox that does not play music until something is selected. Now add in distrubuted, thin clients and you realize why this is an important feature). According to the icecast authors, it is

CentOS-2 Final finally released
At long last I have uploaded CentOS-2 Final to the centos mirrors :) Some information on CentOS-2 is available here http://uranus.it.swin.edu.au/~jn/linux/centos-2/index.htm as well as the caos web site. Surely no one will find any bugs or problems, but if you do, email is better for me ATM than IRC. John. -- John Newbigin - Computer Systems Officer School of Information Technology Swinburne

Multiple domain browselist over a wanlink
Hi, I'm trying to generate a multiple domain browselist but I don't get it to work. I've tried everyting by the book but the result is always the same: I can see the other workgroup(s) but they are empty. Currently I've added the following rules to the smb.conf remote browse sync = 192.168.2.2 192.168.2.4 remote announce = 192.168.2.2 192.168.2.4 As far as I understand

Re: CentOS-2 to CentOS-3 migration
Beau, > Subject: Re: [Centos] HOWTO? Upgrade Centos-2 to > Centos-3 John Newbin has been working on a migration center. It may have some useful information; get it here: http://uranus.it.swin.edu.au/~jn/linux/centos-2/migration.htm > Correct me if I am wrong, but centos 2 > is based off or redhat 7.2, so it may work. smbmount
Is there a method or way that will allow one to automagically mount samba shares requiring a password w/o using a plain text password? Even if I have to store the plaintext password in a file, is there at least a way to keep plain text passwords going over the network (IPSec perhaps)? === Al

Re: RedHat/CentOS family tree
John, Your RedHat/CentOS family tree looks great! Even people who are not trying to migrate might want to take a look. For those who have not seen it yet, it is at the bottom of John's migration page, http://uranus.it.swin.edu.au/~jn/linux/centos-2/migration.htm For a general understanding how the different versions relate to each other, that picture is worth 1,000 words, easy.

Win32 Syslinux
I've been playing with the Win32 SYSLINUX, and it fails if you're not using NT or 2K or XP. There are some differences when using it under Win95/98/ME, but is there any reason that this program couldn't just have a different codepath for those older version of Windows? Bug#658305: Prevent silently failing on duplicate vifname
Package: xen-utils-common Version: 4.1.2-3 Severity: normal When configurating a duplicate custom vifname for interfaces in the Xen dom0 that are added to a bridge (which is obviously a configuration error), the hotplug scripts fail silently to rename the new vifX.0 to the custom vifname, if it's already existing. The result of this, is that the domU will start normally, but no network

Booting disk images with syslinux?
Is it possable to boot a diskimage with syslinux? So often I run into bios upgrade disks images or can easily create a disk image and would like an easy way to just boot these images. I know isolinux does this and I vagely remember using it to make a bootable windows 95 cd back in the day. It worked to. It would be nice if I could just copy the disk image to a usbstick and use syslinux to boot

2.0.2 servers with 1.9.18p10 DMB?
Have there been any problems reported with running 2.0.2 on servers using security=server with a 1.9.18p10 DMB? We've run into a situation where I've upgraded 4 of our servers to 2.0.2 but the DMB is still running 1.9.18p10. We have had sporatic trouble with the upgraded servers rejecting correct passwords because the DMB seemingly would not properly validate them. Today, we ran into a

Re: migration center
John, > I started a web page to collect my ideas > http://uranus.it.swin.edu.au/~jn/linux/centos-2/migration.htm I looked at the page collecting your ideas. That is a good start, and a good looking web page. Your wizard idea is fancier than what I had in mind. I was thinking of a table listing the starting points and in the left column and the sensible options in the right column. Then
