network speed of network interfaces
Hello, I have detected a problem with my network interfaces in my xen servers. The problem I have is that snmp is reporting interfaces as 10Mbps, although they are connected at 1000Mbps. Nevertheless, the nic is working at 1000Mbps, because it reports traffic at more than 10Mbps. This is not a critical bug, but it is annoying, because we have scripts to monitor interfaces and create usage

HVM Network Speed
Hello, I have another question regarding Xen. I have noticed, and discovered that it is normal that the network speed from my Xen WinXP HVM instance is not that great. (ie: it is faster to copy files from one computer to another on my network then from my HVM to the local machine). I am seeing that one way around this are the paravirtualization drivers offered thru the commercial version of

[GPLPV] Xennet device issues on Win2k3 x32 DomU/Disabling just one PV device
Hi there. I have been dealing with a conundrum off and on with a VPS of mine. Windows 2003 Standard 32 bit on a Xen HVM instance. Been trying to get the GPLPV drivers working to help boost performance but always seem to run into one major issue: The PV network device looks like it works but actual connectivity is non-existant. Everything else in the GPLPV driver suite works fine. What I want to

can ping domU VPS, but can''t SSH into it
Hi all, A client just phoned me and said he could not SSH into his VPS, yet he can ping it. So, I login to the host node, and check it out, can''t SSH into. I shutdown iptables on the VPS (via xm console serverza.vm) but still can''t SSH into it. I restart the VPS, still can''t SSH into it. So, I check the host, and found this in /var/log/messages: Jul 22 19:19:07

Paravirt network interfaces and snmp
Hi, We are using Zenoss to monitor a number of paravirt Linux hosts (using the xen net device), it appears that an snmp query to the paravirt hosts is reporting the interface speed as 10mbit - which is significantly lower than what it really is (the dom0 host has 1gbit networking). This causes the occasional spurious error from the monitoring tool as it notices that a host is using 75% of its

GPLPV 0.9.10 & 0.9.11.pre17/18 Network Issues
Hello, I have been testing James'' GPLPV drivers and found excellent performance when using iperf but have been having issues when trying to download a file from a shared folder on my Windows 2003 Enterprise HVM to any other system whether it is linux or windows. Basically my initial iperf tests were showing 937Mbits/sec down and 345Mbits/sec up but when I try to copy a 2GB file

Network transfer speed issues in RHEL4
I am in need of some help with a speed issue on a test Red Hat server. The server is running RHEL4 ES Update 4. When copying a file using FTP it transfers at 19GB per hour, but when copying via SMB it transfers at 3-4GB per hour. The network card on the server is Intel 10/100. When copying using samba a simple cp -av command is used. I have tested when this server is part of Active Directory and

File xfer speed issues with MacOS X 10.2 and 10.3
Hi all, I have a mixed environment of Windows 2000, XP, Linux, and MacOS X clients connecting to various Samba servers. Our network is 100Mbit switched ethernet. Originally, we were using samba 2.2.8a, with the socket options of TCP_NODELAY SO_SNDBUF=4096 SO_RCVBUF=4096. However, the MacOS X clients (which were added after the initial setup and testing), had horrible file xfer performance;

Windows VM Network Issue
We have benchmarked Windows Server 2003/2008 xen vm to find out network capacity. Xen PV Driver (gplpv_2003x64_0.11.0.213.msi) is installed and xen version is 3.4.1. Windows Server 2003 network failure occured after pushing 3 hours network stress. it is certainly reproducible. (We repeated this test 4 times and got same result) Network drivers did not display any warnings or errors.Dom0 did not

Routing control within one tinc network
Hi, I have a question around whether there is any way to control tinc routing if you have multiple routes to the same destination. I have a three node configuration, let's call them: home -> connects to both other nodes vps1 -> a VPS, providing connection to the internet vps2 -> another VPS, also providing a connection to the internet Both vps nodes provide their own 192.168.x.0
