Problem booting 2.6.30-rc5 kernel
Good morning! I know I'm on the bleeding edge, but I'm having trouble getting the 2.6.30-rc5 kernel to boot on my CentOS 5.3 box. It's a dual-socket Nehalem box with the Tylersburg chipset (Supermicro board). I installed CentOS 5.3 on it with no problems - boots and runs fine. But I wanted to take a look at the 2.6.30-rc5 kernel and try out some new stuff. After a few go around's

RAID problem when building new computer
Hi all! I'm building up a new box and plan to use Centos 5 on it. i've got a pair of SATA 320 GB drives to make a RAID1. I'm trying to follow the "howto" on the centos wiki for making a "partitionable RAID" installation. Given that my partition scheme has a separate /boot partition, while the one in the HOWTO apparently does not, I've had to tweak the steps

Centos 5.2 install problem
Hi, I'm trying a fresh install on a x86_64 (Supermicro X7dbe, 2xIntel Xeon X5450, 8 GB, 3WARE 9650SE-8LPML, 3 disks in RAID 5). The format takes quite long (2,7 TB), that seems to be normal, but then the first boot will not take place, instead the system loops. Any hints? The message follows: Regards Michael Mounting root filesystem. mount: could not find filesystem '/dev/root'

Centos5: RAID1 on root/boot? [+lilo mkinitrd issues]
Hi, I did a command-line upgrade of a RHL73 server to Centos 5. It was a bit rocky road, but in the end it was successful. There's one thing that bugged me. I'm using software RAID1 consisting of /dev/hd{a,c}. No LVM or anything fancy, a number of /dev/mdX partitions, including the root (+/boot). I'd have preferred to continue using lilo as it works more easily with RAID1

Hi all, I am in a bit of a fix here, I have several Guests paravirtualized running on a Dom0 that is currently running the 2.6.18-92.1.22.el5xen Kernel. All my guests (administered by different people) have subsequently been updated to later versions of the kernel (namely 2.6.18-164.el5xen or 2.6.18-128.4.1.el5xen). Ones that are still running are using the Kernel 2.6.18-128.4.1.el5xen while

file system resizing with cloud-init on centos/redhat??
Hi, Has any one used resizefs module with cloud-init on centos/redhat before? How to call it with #cloud-config user data, do I need to give it any parameters? I googled cloud-init, but it is pretty difficult to find a manual/book on this, and mostly they are Ubuntu based. If possible, I'd like to use a same image/AMI to boot up instances(VMs) with different disk size setup, and let
