Bug#683170: Xend causing high CPU load - starting domU failing
Package: xen-utils-4.0
Version: 4.0.1-5.2
After clean upgrade from Lenny I got xend highly use CPU resources
causing domU don't being created - due to timeouts for vifs and vbds
(mostly CPU Steal Time was increasing - no iowaits).
Tried Xen boot options acpi=noirq|ht without success. Option acpi=off
solved that issue, but performance of the server was horrible. The final
workaround was to

I finally have solved the problem I by temporarily moving put the xml
files from /var/lib/xend directories reboot then xend started.
And DomU''s were failing to start the above xml files I kept back and
got all DomU''s back.
I am very very surprised.I do not have any logical answer to this some

Exception starting xend ((11, ''Resource temporarily unavailable''))
Hi
I tried building xen on my IA64 machine. It builds and installs smoothly.
But I have not been able to start xend.
I get the error in /var/log/xen/xend.log as below:

Problems starting xend in xen 4.0 and 2.6.32.15
This issue has been posted before, but no clear solution, i am sending

2.6.32 pvops dom0 booted with xen 4.0. However the xend can not start.
I believe that is something related to the *evtchn*.
I compile the CONFIG_XEN_DEV_EVTCHN=y in kernel, so i donot need to load it.
When the dom0 booted, I can see there is a entry for evtchn in /dev/xen
along with gntdev.
But when xend starts, the

[PATCH] Ignore xenbus system state transitions on shutdown
This implements a suggestion by Keir to remove the xenbus "ignore
state transitions on shutdown" code for kernels without a shutdown

Unable to start xend
Hi,
I''m trying to install Xen on Ubuntu 11.04. I read somewhere (please
correct me if this is wrong) that Ubuntu hasn''t had dom0 support since 8.04
LTS, and the recommended action was to grab a dom0-enabled kernel from
Debian, so I did. I''m running 2.6.32-5-xen-amd64 and built Xen 4.1.1 from
source. After installation and some troubleshooting, I tried to start

XEN 4.0.2-rc2 - using OCAML xenstored -- xend not starting?
Hi All,
I just tried a new installation of Ubuntu 10.04 (64bit) + Xen and am
having some trouble starting XEN. I am using the latest mercurial checkout
(4.0.2-rc2) and the only change I made was to Config.mk to enable building
the OCAML version of xenstored. " CONFIG_OCAML_XENSTORED ?= y". I am using
the same kernel I built earlier for a similar Ubuntu 10.04-64bit / Xen

Xend not starting (Lenny backport of Xen 3.4.3-rc3)
Hi,
I have recompiled xen-3_3.4.3~rc3-1 in Lenny, together with the
2.6.32-10 kernel. While my dom0 boots without issue under Xen, xend
refuses to start. I have cut/past my xend.log is bellow.
Is there any reason why a backport of this version of Xen wouldn't work
in Lenny? Should I try the already compiled SID binaries in Lenny
without trying to build myself?
Cheers,

"Exception starting xend ((2, ''No such file or directory''))" - what file?
Hi all, I can''t get xend to start and could do with some help.
this is the stock 30.2 release. it was working fine on ubuntu breezy,
and since I''ve updated to dapper it''s boned...
The odd thing is, if I run the installer, I can start xend ok. but when
I reboot it''s broken again.
I''m guessing a directory is being deleted by ubuntu at reboot time -

Xend highly uses CPU with multiprocessor setup
Hi all,
I am experiencing issue on freshly upgraded Debian Squeeze with Xen
4.0.1 from Debian repositories.
After upgrade the system with Xen was slow - no iowaits only Steal time
was high. I tried workarounds regarding ACPI - only acpi=off was working
but the performance decrease was quite large due to only one CPU core
was active at that time.
The last workaround I am running right now is to

[PATCH] Make explicit message when guest failed to suspend
Recent xen uses xenbus to suspend PV-on-HVM guest domain. The related
code in the xen-unstable tree will fall into infinite loop when guest
domain failed on suspending one or more devices.
The patch attached changes the logic, and raises an XendError after 1
minute waiting. The patch also makes use of "control/shutdown" entry
in xenstore, allows guest kernel report the failure of the

Xen-unstable (Error: Unable to connect to xend)
Hi,
I have installed xen3.0.4.1 from source and every thing works well. Now I
need to upgrade to xen-unstable. It is compiled and installed successfully
(at least it seems to be) and I''m able to boot and run dom0.
But Xend does not work. "xend start" gives no warning or error but running "xm

Hi all,
I know that this list isn't for usage and install level questions, but the
people at xen-users at lists.xensource.com had no idea of what could be the
problem and told me to get hold of a "debian-xen"-type list. Which yours
came closest to. :-)
My setup is a little bit strange, since i change the motherboard and
processor of the system from a K7 to an AMD 64 a couple of

Python using 99% cpu, xend unresponsive
Hi
I''m a new xen user. I gather from the mailing lists that this problem
occurs with excessive console output. However, I believe dom1 was
sitting idle at the login prompt when I noticed top on dom0 was showing
python at 99% cpu.
xend would not respond to restarts. Reboot fixed it.
What debugging output can i give you, if any, if this happens again?
