steps to add a new physical disk to existing LVM setup in new centos box?
Not a centos specific question here, but if anyone can save me from shooting myself in the foot would appreciate any pointers.... I have an older centos 4.7 box that I recently replaced with a newer one running centos 5.3. I'd like to add the hard disk from the older one to the newer one before I scrap it for good. I don't care about the data on it, would just like the extra drive

how to find out total capacity and raid level of btrfs file system
I know df does not report the correct size for btrfs raid systems. Is there any other way to find out the total capacity of a btrfs file system? Or at least the raid level for data / metadata? My test system is Ubuntu 10.10 alpha with btrfs 0.19 and a 2.6.35 kernel (don''t know which rc). # uname -a Linux ubuntu 2.6.35-12-generic #17-Ubuntu SMP Mon Jul 26 18:48:06 UTC 2010 x86_64

How to do a pretty panel plot?
The pretty picture that I saw at: http://chartsgraphs.wordpress.com/2009/02/09/r-panel-chart-beats-excel-chart/#more-1096 inspired me to try something similar. "BUG: soft lockup - CPU#n stuck for X s! [swapper:0]"
I just updated my quad-processor X64 machine (AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 945 Processor) to the latest CentOS 5 xen kernel (2.6.18-371.4.1.el5xen) and I am getting occasional "BUG: soft lockup - CPU#n stuck for X s! Forward Stepwise regression with stepAIC and step
Dear all, I cannot seem to get the R functions step or stepAIC to perform forward or stepwise regression as I expect. I have enclosed the example data in a dataframe at the end of this mail. Note rubbish is and rnorm(17) variable which I have deliberately added to the data to test the stepwise procedure. I have used wateruse.lm<-lm(waterusage~.,data=wateruse) # Fit full model

zebra bgp and shorewall
Hi, I plan to implement a redundant Internet connection using BGP on 2 different Linux Routers. The routing daemon software I will be using is Zebra (zebra.org). I''m wondering if I should have my Linux firewall behind the 2 BGP routers, or could I keep the shorewall on both BGP routers? Has anyone had any experience with this? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks, Sam

"Time Series Plotting"
Hi keep your emails to R help, I do not offer private consultance and others could have different opinion how to solve your problem. Did you even try my suggestion? If not, why not? If yes in what respect it does not comply with your expectations. Defaults of CentOS Install not working with SELinux
Following a hard drive corruption I have reinstalled the latest version of CentOS and all current patch files. For most applications I selected the default options. By doing this I expected that the packages would play nice with one another and I could customize as necessary. Setting SELinux to enforce I encountered all sorts of problems - but most were resolvable, save for Dovecot,

sorting during xtabs? sorting by "individual" order?
Hey alltogether, refacturing a package (before it will be released), I ran across the following problem. I have two directories with different text files, I want to read the first and construct a document-term matrix from it (every term=word in a row, every file in a column, occurrence frequencies form the values). The second directory contains different files. It needs to be read in to also

I had this working once upon a time and can not for the life of me figure it out. Here's some basic info. Dist: Gentoo 2005.1 Emerge Info: net-mail/dovecot-1.0_beta8
