PCI passthrough of cciss HBA
All, I would like to run the following issue past the list to confirm that my problem analysis makes sense or whether I missed something: We have a HP ML370G6 server with VT-x and VT-d enabled in the BIOS. It is equipped with two Smart Array HBAs - one connected to the HDD array (SmartArray P800) and one connected to an LTO tape drive (SmartArray P212). Both controllers use the same driver

PCI USB Passthrough on Kernel 3.5 and 3.6 not working (HVM or PVM)
Hi Xenners, I have tried to upgrade to kernel 3.5 and experienced the USB/PCI passthrough problem. This has not been "fixed" in 3.6 either. I do not know if this is qemu, xen or kernel related. I am using Xen 4.2 final and Xen 4.3-unstable to test. DomU is Windows 7 64 bit or Linux Fedora 17. In Windows, I get the little yellow triangle with Code 10 (I know this means nothing...

Question about backporting pci passthrough fix to 2.6.18
Hi, I have a question about the bug: http://bugzilla.xensource.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=1632 This is marked as fixed in the pv-ops kernel. I am working for a company developing a xen based virtualisation solution. Unfortunately the design is tied to CentOS and there is resistance to upgrade to > 2.6.31 kernel. My question is whether it is possible for me to try to backport the fixes for

PCI passthrough of a SATA/PATA controller, "FLR functionality not supported"
Hi there, I have a question regarding PCI passthrough on the Citrix XenServer 5.6 (Xen 3.4.2). I already managed to get some soundcard passed through to a Windows guest. So I think my knowledge about that topic isn''t _that_ low. But I cannot seem to pass through a SATA/PATA controller to a Linux guest. I have some additional CD/DVD burner (PATA) attached to a SATA/PATA controller

PCI passthrough
I have a USB controller I wish to pass to a HVM guest. More specifically a WindowsXP HVM guest if that matters. I have iommu=1 on the hypervisor line in grub.cfg as well as xen-pciback.hide=(00:12.2). In the VMs config file I have the following: pci= [''00:12.2''] Whenever the VM is started it gives the following error: libxl: error: libxl_pci.c:794:libxl__device_pci_add PCI

PCI passthrough to domU does not work with XEN 3.3
Hi! As dom0 I''m running Ubuntu Hardy withe xen 3.3 from backports. Reason to using xen 3.3 is that I could get Intrepid stock kernel to work as domu with xen 3.2. Now the problem I have is that I can''t passthrough PCI-devices to my domu. If I run lspci in the domu nothing is returned. I''ve tried to use the kernel from Hardy (2.6.24-21-xen) and stock kernel from

Xen 3.3.0 PCI passthrough with pciback.hide
Hi all, I am trying to configure a Dom U to act as a firewall and therefore I need to pass one of the two ethernet cards to the Dom-U. I configured the Xen kernel to build pciback as a module and I am passing the hide option via boot parameters. I boot the pv machine via pygrub and I am able to see the ethernet device in Dom U as follows: Dom-U#lspci 02:00.0 Ethernet controller: Broadcom

Mellanox SR-IOV IB PCI passthrough in Xen - MSI-X pciback issue
Greetings Xen user community, I am interested in using Mellanox ConnectX cards with SR-IOV capabilities to passthrough pci-e Virtual Functions (VFs) to Xen guests. The hope is to allow for the use of InfiniBand directly within virtual machines and thereby enable a plethora of high performance computing applications that already leverage InfiniBand interconnects. However, I have run into some

pci passthrough question. Do I need VT-D ?
Hi, I really need help. I spent 2 days already on this pci passthrough thing. I''m using Xen 3.2.1 with Centos 5.2 64 bits on intel VT. I''d like to use PCI passthrough and I don''t think I need VT-D functionality. I''m trying to pass PCI 12:01.0 to my domU guest. I got this error when I use "xm create /etc/xen/hvm_centos_2.cfg" Using config file

PCI Passthrough not working
Further to my last post, I have removed the xen-pciback module from the Dom0 kernel, and reloaded it as modprobe xen-pciback passthrough=1 I now have the PCI device on the DomU matching the Dom0 Device usb usb1: SerialNumber: 0000:00:1a.0 instead of 0000:00:00.0 However I now have this error ehci_hcd 0000:00:1a.0: Unlink after no-IRQ? Controller is probably using the wrong IRQ. does

pci passthrough under xen-3.3 without VT-d
Hi all! I''m hoping someone here might be able to help. I''m familiar with several UNIX''es, though farily new to Linux... I''m running RHEL 5.2. I''ve got the RHEL kernel headers installed, etc, and compiled xen-3.3. Once that was built, I rebuilt libvirt, etc, the kernel, and all the modules. The whole mess boots and runs fine... mostly. My hardware

Unknown boot option `pciback.hide=(09:04.0)': ignoring
Good morning, I need to use pciback.hide to hide a pci card because I want to pci passthrough that card to a domU. My hardware neither supports Intel-Vt-d nor AMD's IOMMU. Unfortunately this doesn't seem to work in Centos 54 anymore. I guess it doesn't work because it is not compiled into the kernel, but as a module. I got the following error in dmesg and the pci device is still

Some questions about PCI-passthrough for HVM(Non-IOMMU)
Hello, I saw some patches about PCI-passthrough for HVM(non-IOMMU) and I am interested in it. I want to assign my graphics card(nVidia GeForce 7900GS) to an HVM domain (Vista) in order to run 3D-intensive work(for example, 3D-games). What I want to ask is that is it really possible to pass the graphics card to HVM domain running Vista now? That is, have anyone ever successfully
