NoMemoryError ActiveSupportMultibyte - Normalize
Hello all,
I am importing large word documents. I have a test file which is 30mb
in length. I run this through a series of processes to clean it up
and extract the data i need to inject bits of it into a database.
The 30mb file runs fine on my Mac. But on the FreeBSD server dies
with a NoMemoryError at one of the first steps, which is normalizing
the file.
Basically, the sequence is the user

BackgrounDRB and Sqlite3 / Autotest / Memory_test_fix Issues
Hello all.
I am using BackgrounDRB with "great happiness and joy", however, I am
running into one problem in that when I am running my tests with
autotest using Sqlite3 3.3.17 I am getting
"ActiveRecord::StatementInvalid" exception inside of the
sqlite_adapter.rb:360 which is checking for an empty structure.
I thought it might be the version of Sqlite, so I upgraded to 3.3.17

I''m using backgroundrb for session management and deletion of visitor-entered information when a session is abandoned. The visitor can either click a button to end their session and remove their data, or backgroundrb will do it for them after 5 minutes of inactivity.
Everything''s working fine, I think. If the visitor explicitly logs out, then when the worker checks for their

LoginEngine File_column interop
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: RIPEMD160
Hello all,
I hope someone can help me with this issue, I have the SVN
file_column and using LoginEngine/UserEngine with Rails 1.1.2. My
issue is that I''m overloading the view for LoginEngine to support a
file image upload as part of the user record and having a heck of a
time doing so.

LoginEngine vs. LoginGenerator?
I just saw a mention here of LoginEngine, which I hadn''t heard of
before. Last week when I was digging for user-account sample code for
my web-app, I instead found the LoginGenerator and started using that:
http://wiki.rubyonrails.com/rails/pages/LoginGenerator
Is one of these preferred over the other? From skimming the API docs,
it does seem that LoginEngine has more features,

Problem with LoginEngine
I installed the Engines and loginEngines plugins but when it came to set
up the Database schema.rb, that file is missing from the folder. I have
searched everywhere possible to see if i can get this file and set up
the schema but no success. Anyone with the same problem or know what
the issue could be?
Even the documentation for loginEngine does not show this file anywhere.
Thanks to anyone

LoginEngine problems
I''m trying to get a simple authentication system going for a small rails app.
After much research, it looks like LoginEngine should do exactly what I want.
Now, the documentation is somewhat confusing to me when looked at in the light
of reality. There are some places that say you have to install the "engines"
plugin. But, I cannot find such a beast.
So, I installed the

LoginEngine 1.0.1
Hi,
The LoginEngine has been updated to 1.0.1.
Notable changes:
* User model now does very basic email validation
* All tests now pass on both Rails 1.0 and 1.1
* Many bugs fixed!
Please refer to the Engines documentation for how to update.

strange bugs while using mongrel, while running in development (and also sometimes in production mode)
Following errors are taken from monrgrel running in development mode. It
complained routes.rb, no such file or directory and then sometimes i get
application.rb, no such file or directory.Doesn''t seem correct to me.
Though not so often, but even production servers throw these errors
sometimes, and i have no special routes setup or something. Its pretty much
default one, except few changes

LoginEngine / UserEngine conceptual help
All,
I have a small Intranet app I''m trying to get ready for remote access.
(I only have 15 or so users for now and I don''t plan to be adding
very many more.).
I have installed the login engine and it seems to be working as
advertized. (Great job!)
For my needs I don''t want random people to be able to register and get
access to my app, but I will need to register

UserEngine / LoginEngine + file upload
I''m trying to setup loginengine/userengine for my site, and I''ve added
one extra field to the ''user'' table, which is supposed to store the
filename of the user''s picture. Now, I have upload_progress/file_column
working on other parts of my site, but when I try to submit a multipart

Problem with change_password action in LoginEngine
Hi, I just setup the Login engine and everything seems to be
working... but the change_password action. The fact is that the user
receives the mail telling him to visit the app''s change_password page
in order to enter a new password, but I get an undefined method error
in my controller when rendering <%= error_messages_for ''user'' %>.

My unit tests and functional tests are failing because my tests aren''t

How can I fake authentication to make my tests work properly.
Thanks,

Engine Not Starting
I''ve used login_engine successfully before with webrick, and now using a
provider that uses fcgi. login_engine doesn''t seem to start up, in the
development log file, I get only routing errors for the page requested.
The login_engine unit tests pass fine.
My question is if an engine is not loaded, not in a path, etc, how is
this indicated in rails? None of the log files even

Stopping new directory creation ?
Hi, I've been looking for a way to stop users creating new sub-directories
under a top level (shared) directory - which will need to contain 3
readymade directories and/or to stop users placing files outside the 3
readymade directories.
Is this at all possible ?
Got a really basic system - Slackware 8.0 and Samba 2.2.8a running purely as
a fileserver for Win2k clients.
Thanks

LoginGenerator Killing Me ;)
OK I have dents in my head from beating on LoginGenerator, so if anyone
who has used this thing can shed a little light I would greatly
appreciate it.
It is installed and I have set it up on my User class. Folks can login,
logout, etc just fine. I have am not using the per method protection
model yet, as I am trying to migrate slowly ;)
What is broken though are all my methods that save or
