Resolve "Time went backwards" problem by using jiffies as clocksource
Hi All, I''m new to Xen and... Happy New Year! After restarting dom-0, my dom-u prints this in console once every second, [55082.616234] __ratelimit: 1503 messages suppressed [55082.616234] clocksource/0: Time went backwards: ret=380ab26c53a I resolved this by following the instructions in "http://wiki.debian.org/Xen", which is basically changing clocksource to

How to create a CD/DVD
Hi! Assuming I have all the files (basically I've downloaded the ISOs) of CentOS 4 (RC1 for now, but 4.0 in the future) how do I recreate the ISO images - both to regain the original 4 CDs (less important) - and to achieve a DVD image (more important but can probably be guessed from the answer to how to make the CDs). Any takers? [note I've burned many CDs - I'm basically

Wine CD-ROM on Mac OS X
Can Wine access DVD-RW devices natively on Mac OS X like it can on Linux? I was using Wine in Linux to run ImgBurn and it worked great, but I recently switched to Snow Leopard and I don't know how to configure this. I tried adding the Volume that was mounted by Finder. I tried adding /dev/disk2. Neither worked. I really like ImgBurn and do not want to abandon it if possible. Thanks.

Weird netinstall issue
Hi. The other day I burnt a copy of a CentOS 6.4 64 bit netinstall disc, verified the disc which passed & about a third of the way through the install it informed me that there was no CD in the drive & refused to carry on. So I burnt another & the same thing happened. So using the same disk burner & the same batch of disks, I burnt a copy of a Debian 7.1 netinstall & it

problems with burning i386 centos 6 dvd
Hey guys, Thanks a lot for the CentOS 6 distro. I am having trouble burning the i386 dvds. I tried on a RHEL 6 deskop and also a CentOS 5 laptop. The command I am running on both systems is this: growisofs -dvd-compat -speed=4 -Z /dev/sr0=/home/gsgatlin/CentOS-6.0-i386-bin-DVD/CentOS-6.0-i386-bin-DVD.iso The error I am seeing is: :-( /dev/sr0: 2295104 blocks are free, 2297586 to be written!

different iso's
I am wondering if there are any plans to release a large dvd iso of the centos distribution? dvd burners are taking off and this would be a good addition. Instead of three cd iso's one big dvd iso. -- My "Foundation" verse: Isa 54:17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. USB install annoyances (not OT)[SOLVED]
Yet another denial - it's as though it's also blocking me based on the relationship of included text vs. new text. blah, blah, blah. Let's see if this is enough new text to get through. Media check on Centos 6.2 DVD1 i386
I've downloaded and md5sum checked the Centos 6.2 DVD1 and burnt it to a DVD. Should there be an option to check the DVD media from the grub boot menu please? 6.0 Media problems
When I downloaded the iso for 6.0 install, K3b said the iso wouldn't fit on the blank DVD. So I downloaded and burned the LiveDVD. When I boot it, I get the blue splash screen (it says "CentOS... Community Enterprise OS on the bottom, logo to the right), but nothing else comes up. Hitting various keys does nothing. Downloaded and burned the Netinstall CD. It gives an error message

how to convert 7 cd iso images into one dvd image?
Hi; how to convert 7 cd iso images into one dvd image? I am unable to use bittorrent :-( Home ISP blocking bittorrent; company now blocks bittorrent. I want/need an old release (CentOS 5.2) to install as a VirtualBox guest. I suppose I could install from the cd iso images, but it is a pain to virtually eject and remount cd iso images during the install :-( So, is there a technique or an open

Install Problems Centos 4.1
Dear All, I have a K8S-MX Asus Athlon 64 Motherboard with a 754 pin 3000+ CPU, which I cam trying to install 4.1 Centos 64 bit. The problem seems to arise when installing onto Mirrored disks, I have noticed that from Centos 4 onwards it tries to rebuild the arrays as it installs which slows the whole process right down across all platforms I have tried it on. In addition, the install

CentOS Stream 9 virt-install via loop-mounted ISO fails
Hi, I've loop-mounted the latest CentOS Stream 9 DVD ISO and try to do a virt-install (2.0.x for some reason) as non-root user (libvirt group member) using --location with the mount path, but then I come across the problem decribed here: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2022630 That is, I see on the console "Starting dracut initqueue hook...", then it stalls for a

Paravirtualized Solaris Update 6 (10/08)?
Gurus; I''ve been running Solaris 10 on a HVM domain on my machine (running SXCE snv_93 x86) for some time now. Now that Solaris 10 Update 6 (10/08) has been released, I tried creating a Paravirtualized Guest domain but got the same error message I got previously... # virt-install -n sol10 -p -r 1560 --nographics -f /dev/zvol/dsk/rpool/sol10 -l /stage/sol-10-u6-> Starting

New addition to FAQ
Greetings, I was on IRC about 7 hours ago and suggested that the FAQ be updated slightly. Rather than sit on my ass and complain I figured I'd ask a few people, and see if the idea was worth the time. Here's what Ive started with: http://www.dimension.net.nz/theora.html I'll be adding to it over the next 24 hours - mostly in the area of Playback and Encoding. Just threw it together

Inefficient storing of ISO images with compress=lzo
I''ve noticed that: - with x86-64 Fedora 15 DVD install images: - du -sh <ROOT VOLUME> was 36 GB - btrfs df | grep -i data have shown over 40 GB used - without - du -sh <ROOT VOLUME> is 34 GB - btrfs df | grep -i data have shown less then 34 GB used It seems that iso files are considered compressable while they may not be (and penalty is severe - 3x). Installing old Suse as fully virtualized guest: problem with install source
Using CentOS 5.1 with Xen 3.2. I'm trying to install a fully virtualized system for the first time and doing this with an old Suse 9.0 (this probably would run paravirtualized, maybe it won't run, anyway, because of hardware problems). I start with virt-manager and after choosing "fully virtualized" it presents me two options for install media: iso image and CD-ROM or DVD,
