Resize KVM NTFS file system
On 6/9/2015 12:33 PM, James A. Peltier wrote: > Listen, it's far simpler than that. Call Microsoft and tell them that you resized a file system with a third party tool and now your file system is corrupt and you'd like them to support you. Await the click and awkward silence. hey, I'd hang up, too. I don't trust in-place partition shrinking, no matter WHAT the software.

SCSI install to IDE install - help
Hi, a customer has a Centos installation on SCSI disk (aic7xxx), there are some programs that he no longer have the installation media (some accounting stuff). Due to the SCSI disk going bad we must tranfer the installation to some other disks. SCSI disks are very difficult to find here and must be ordered (and wait about 45 days to arrive at the dealer). Can I clone the SCSI disk to a IDE Disk

Migrate existing Windows XP VirtualBox VM to Xen
Hi, I''m trying to migrate a VirtualBox virtual machine to Xen, but I haven''t been able to successfully boot it under xen (3.0.1 that comes with CentOS 5.5). Thinking that the problem was converting the disk format to a raw format, I tried converting the VDI disk with all these options: VBoxManage internalcommands converttoraw disk.vdi disk.raw VBoxManage clonehd disk.vdi

[Slightly OT] Data Preservation
HI All, So I have 5 1U servers (running Windows) that have Ultra 320 SCSI Drives in them. The owner of these boxes wants the drives captured in their current states to .iso or .cdr or something where if the need arises the data can be viewed, used again, etc. So what is the best approach? Boot from a Live CD, hook up a USB external HD and do what? Can I create a .iso or .cdr (or some

Acronis True Image or Clonezilla
I want to clone a small (80GB) disk on my CentOS server to a large (1.5TB) disk, as smart has been giving me warnings of unreadable sectors. Both disks are Western Digital, and WD has a WD version of Acronis True Image. I'm not sure whether to use this or Clonezilla. My worry with Acronis is that I want to keep the original disk, and I'm not sure from the documentation if True Image

syslinux -> Windows 2008R2
Hello, I'm trying to use a current Syslinux setup, that is working well for service linux based distros, to serve up recent Windows server installs. As I'm new here I'm reluctant to make any changes to the environment unless I've exhausted the current options. We are running Syslinux 3.71 on a Gentoo server and all the DHCP and tftpd are "working as they should". What

PXE -> tftp -> WinPE vs NForce 4
Hi The setup, as in the subject, is supposed to boot a Winpe to install xp to a clean PC. I use the Ramdisk method (ie PXELinux pases the setup on to the M$ pxe loader and and boots WinPE) It works perfectly with evry other chipset, but Nvidias NForce 4. (tested 15 different) With NF4 it loads up well but the M$ PnP routine detects the Network management bus wrong (nvidia specific approach to

mdiskchk and WinPE
Greetings, all... Hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I've set up a Linux PXE host with a menu choice to install Windows. This option boots a WinPE image, which then uses \\net use... to mount the appropriate ISO image. Works fine. However, I would like to pass the iso name and directory into WinPE from the menu via append= arguments. Thus, I can set up a separate menu option

Most efficient way of pxe booting windows pe
Hi guys, We are using syslinux (memdisk) and gpxe already for a while. Also got a working winpe boot method by means of pxe. Which basicly is a dd of an 'recovery partition' where winpe.wim is on. That method isn't really the most efficient way, cause its loaded into memory twice. We are going to do a major windows 7 deployment soon and i'm looking for the most efficient way of

I do have some Windows machines on another subnet, NOT joined to the domain that are giving me grief. Going to
