Xen 4.0 memory overcommitment
Hello,
I am running a functional Xen 4.0 platform. The objective is the project I
am currently running is to replace 4 VMWare ESX by 4 Xen 4.0 hypervisors. I
have been able to reproduce all the core VMWare features in Xen (but better
of course =D) except memory overcommitment.
I know this feature has been included since Xen 3.3 but I have found almost
no information about it.
When I try to

Problems with an old samba patch
Good morning
Some time ago, "googling" to solve a problem, I've found at the samba list a patch that allowed kerberized printing to the smb backend.
The link is the following:
http://lists.samba.org/archive/samba-technical/2005-April/040480.html
A sad thing that I noticed is that this patch doesn't seen to work anyomore with the latest release (3.0.20), and worked fine till

Understanding the version handling in LLVM/Clang/LLD
[ Please CC me I ma not subcribed to this mailing-list ]
[ CC Tom and Hans as LLVM/stable maintainers ]
Hi,
I want to understand the version handling in LLVM/Clang/LLD.
Normally, I build from "release/10.x" Git branch by using the tool
tc-build from ClangBuiltLinux project.
With "llvm-10.0.1-rc1" Git tag I was able to setup a llvm-toolchain
consisting of the projects

Swap space for kvm virtual host
I have a kvm virtual host running on what will become CentOS 6 with 12GB
of memory and a Quad Xeon X5560 2.8Ghz . The store for virtual
machines will be a software raid 6 array of 6 disks with an LVM layered
on top. I'm not initially planning any major overcommitment of
resources, though there could be a need for some overcommitment with a
light workload on the guests.

Quantile Regression and Goodness of Fit
All -
Does anyone know if there is a method to calculate a goodness-of-fit
statistic for quantile regressions with package quantreg?
Specifically, I'm wondering if anyone has implemented the
goodness-of-fit process developed by Koenker and Machado (1999) for R?
Though I have used package quantreg in the past, I may have overlooked
this function, if it is included.

Dovecot and Quotas
Is there anything that can be done so that when users IMAP to their
inbox and have reached their filesystem quota, that they can still
DELETE their mail? They can login, but when they go to delete/expunge
this is the error I get in syslog. I have tried mail_read_mmaped to yes
and no, and same result.

Strange server locks isuess with 2.0.7 - updating
Hi Marek,
Is it possible for you to provide a backtrace of the crash? And can you file a bug report at bugs.gluster.com? Also if possible can you upgrade to 2.8 release and confirm whether you face the same problem?
regards,

Quotas once again
Its been a while since I tried dovecot on my mail server where I have
quota issues. I am using mbox file format. There still seems to be a
quota problem. I have only /var with quotas and basedir is under /usr
(not quotaed). default_mail_env = mbox:~/mail/:INBOX=/var/mail/%u.
I tried with mbox_locks = dotlock fcntl (1st set of logs below) and with
mbox_locks = fcntl (2nd set of logs)

7 days confusion over lists
Hello,
I am a Masters student and I am working on my thesis modelling smallholder
farms using a program in R. I have modified the original code and I am
having some issues with lists that I cannot figure out.
Originally, I had list file defining lists such as: Param, Crop1, Crop1,
Soil, etc. (ex. Param <- list() ). Their subsets were listed as
Crop1$CContent for example and there was quite

"dynamic memory allocation" for windows guests?
Hello,
In our office we would like to do something like "memory overcommitment" or rather "dynamic allocation" for a bunch of windows domUs (server 2003 & 2008).
We thought this should be a simple feature, however we did not find any fitting solution.
We use Xen 4.2.1 with xl toolstack.
The idea is to use ballooning to dynamically (and automatically) change physical

Samba/Kerberos problems: NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE
I have followed directions in a recent article in Sysadmin magazine,
"Wedding Samba to an Active Directory Domain', but I cannot connect to
the samba server...
The samba server is able to get a ticket from the KDC, and access a
samba share on a windows client using Kerberos for authentication....
However, no machine is able to connect to my samba server. I could

Pseudo R for Quant Reg
Dear R Users,
Did someone implemented the R1 (Pseudo R-2) and likelihood ratio
statistics for quantile regressions, which are some of the inference
procedures for quantile regression
found in Koenker and Machado (1999)?
I tried the Ox version, but my dataset is too large (> 50.000) and the
algorith breaks.

1 hour delay between Samba and date
Hi!
I have Samba 2.0.5a on HP/UX 11.00 (it compiled great!!). When I try
"net time \\mysambaservermachine" it replies with one hour more than
"date" on the unix shell. I have already checked timezone vars in my
unix box but I cannot find anything wrong. Should I setup something in
my samba server config? I have changed "time offset" and "nmbd as a

can you automatically add a DNS entry when using "net" to join AD
I looked through the net man page and googled with no luck...I was
wondering if it is possible to have a DNS entry created for the
machine I add using "net ads join" without me having to manually add
it to the DNS.

CentOS Digest, Vol 60, Issue 13
Another issue to consider with SSDs is that they are based on Flash technology. Each flash cell can only be written on about 10,000 to 100,000 times or so (*), so if you're using extensive read/write on your server you will be impacted. SSD manufacturers go around this issue by giving some intelligence to the drive controllers, so that they minimize the per-cell usage (which means moving
