Debian Repository
Hi,
Im trying to install Netware and Windows 2008 server but im having
problems with it reading the ISO. Im guessing this is because im
running version 3.2.1 debian packages so i want to upgrade to unstable
and use the 3.4 deb packages.
My problem is that there isn''t a kernel package so when booting you cant
boot into xenified kernel mode. If i try and use a kernel from the

Volume group "VolGroup00" not found
Hi,
I am compiling Xen from source on FC9. On booting the
Xen dom0 kernel it gives the following error:
Volume group "VolGroup00" not found
and ultimately the error that switchroot: mount failed: No such file or
directory
So my question is that why it fails to detect logical volumes?
Thanks,
Abdul Qadeer

Windows Xen VM's have high guest CPU usage and poor performance
Hello all,
I have a PowerEdge 2950 that I am using to host Windows XP VM's under
CentOS. I am experiencing poor performance in the Xen VM's. Any time I
try to do something, the CPU usage (as reported by the Windows task
manager) hits 100% for a few and then drops back down. This is causing
the VM's to run sluggish and be quite annoying to use. Example.. I
click IE.. cpu hits

RFS: xen-qemu-dm (new package)
Hi,
I believe the package is ready:
http://ftparchive.gplhost.com/debian/pool/lenny/main/x/xen-qemu-dm-3.4/xen-qemu-dm-3.4_3.4.2-1.dsc
I asked Ian Jackson to sponsor it (he works for Citrix and is a DD), but
it's been 2 weeks, and he seems busy with work.
I'd be glad if someone was sponsoring the upload of this package in
Debian SID, soon enough so that people will be able to test it

Windows 7 safe mode with networking on Xen 3.4.2?
I have just attempted to boot a windows 7 vm in safe mode with
networking on Xen 3.4.2 and found that it reboots a few seconds after
the logon screen appears, perhaps somebody else on the list could test
this and confirm that they see the same issue?
The last few lines of the qemu-dm log show the following:
gpe_en_write: addr=0x1f6c, val=0x8.

Issues migrating to xen 4.1
Hi,
We just migrated xen on gentoo on amd64 from 4.0 to 4.1 and
encountered a few issues that were not documented. Here is how we
solved them and what issues are remaining:

/dev/vg/domU-root with disk = [ ''phy:vg/domU-root,sda1,w'' ]. This does
not work anymore, we have to include ''/dev/'': disk = [

qemu-dm cpu utilization
Using an 8-way ES7000 with 32GB of ram, I''m running xen at changset 11217
with dom0_mem=3092M as a kernel parameter on a x86_64 hyperviser.
It appears that qemu is adding too much overhead to
virtual machines to display graphics.
If I boot a sles9sp3 domVT in runlevel 5 with vga=0x314 for a graphicalboot, and immediately use
vncviewer simply to watch the virtual machine as it boots,

HVM guest high CPU usage
I have couple of HVM guests on xen 3.2. When guests boot, qemu-dm uses alot
of cpu for approx 20 minutes post boot then load drops to average 0.50. I
did some debugging and see this is going on, I suspect display output is
using the CPU. Disabling VNC and SDL didn''t help with the CPU usage. any
ideas how to reduce the cpu or stop it all together?
My setup is as following:

''qemu-dm'' process just died
One of my W2K3R2 domains just stopped working, and the ''qemu-dm'' process
is in the ''defunct'' state, which means it has seg faulted or
something...
Of course this happens after it has been running perfectly for a week
and we think all of these problems are behind us!
There wasn''t time to attach the debugger to the process unfortunately...

[PATCH] Fix qemu-dm segfault when multiple HVM domains ---Was: qemu-dm segfault with multiple HVM domains?
Hi, John
Can you try the attached patch ?
This issue can be reproduced on SMP platform, while the domain 0
is UP. The reason is, after finishing a dma request, the dma thread will
trigger the interrupt and then clear the call back function. When guest
get the interrupt , it will try to check the call back function, if it
is set, then it will trigger a dma request again. So if the checking for

[PATCH] qemu-dm: add command to flush buffer cache
Add support for a xenstore dm command to flush qemu''s buffer cache.
qemu will just keep mapping pages and not release them, which causes problems
for the memory pager (since the page is mapped, it won''t get paged out). When
the pager has trouble finding a page to page out, it asks qemu to flush its
buffer, which releases all the page mappings. This makes it possible to find

Xen 4.0.1 HVM 2008R2 Citrix PV Drivers
I have been google for a few days now trying to get the Citrix PV Drivers to work on a server 2008 R2 HVM guest. I get the machine up and running then I install the cirtix PV drivers. I have tried both making and not making the registry change. Once I reboot the server I get stuck at the boot screen.
The xen log says:
