VT-d success - passing PCI TV tuner to Windows DomU
Hi all,
Thought I''d share my success with VT-d. I picked up an Asus P5E-VM DO motherboard as it was relatively cheap and had an extra PCI slot compared to the Intel Q35 board. The people on #xen IRC were very helpful. I wasted 2 days trying to get things working on Ubuntu and OpenSUSE with forward patched versions of Xen for newer kernels. Ended up using CentOS 5.1 which has the requred

stubdom and VT-d passthrough? CPUID?
Hi all,
I recently upgraded my Xen 3.2.1 to 3.3.1 on Centos 5.2. Everything seems to have gone pretty smoothly except I have a few issues. My system specs are:
4GB RAM
Q6600 quad core Intel CPU
P5E-VM DO Q35 Intel mobo (VT-d enabled)
Skystar2 DVB PCI card passed through to HVM DomU
HVM Windows XP SP3 DomU

HVM guest support unavailable
Hi,
when I try to start a hvm the well known error message "Error: HVM guest support is unavailable: is VT/AMD-V supported by your CPU and enabled in your BIOS?" appears. I am using an Intel E8400 on Asus P5E VM DO Board. /proc/cpuinfo info shows that the CPU has vmx support. I have enabled "Vanderpool Technology" in BIOS.
According to the xen user manual the package dev86

Vt-d not working with 3.4.1
Hi folks,
currently I try to setup a new xen host v3.4.1 on top of a Asus P5E-VM
DO (latest BIOS, Vt-d capable and enabled in BIOS) to migrate my
extisting HVMs (Win2k3 server) running on Xen v3.3.0 to a new home. I
want to switch over to 3.4.1 to (hopefully!) passthrough my ISDN board
to a HVM domU.
Unfortunate there seem some issue with the VT-d DMAR tables which is
beyond my knowledge and

Hello,
I have been working sometime now on getting a HVM accepting a PCI card from
the host. As was said in the VT-D wiki I bought an ASUS P5E VM DO
motherboard (rel 0803) which has the VT-D option in the bios. I want to pass
a Hauppauge PVR 500 card to a virtual machine running LinuxMCE. After first
trying XEN 3.2.1 which did not enable the "VT-D virtualisation" bit in xm

Centos 5.0 Intel G33/P35 Chipset Support (Asus P5K-VM, P5KC)
I have 2 new boxes that I cannot use yet because of
problems supporting these newer chipsets in 5.1. Does
anyone know when the CD version of 5.0 x86-64 that has
support for these chipsets be available on any on a
Centos mirror?
Has the support for these chipsets been added to yum
yet?
Here are my latest results with these chipsets and

Intel G33 Compatibility for Centos Server
Been running rock solid servers on Centos 3 and 4 for
years but equipment is starting to die so it is time.
I was thinking along the lines of an Intel Q6600 on an
Asus P5K-VM mobo with the new G33 chipset utilizing
SATA. Is anyone having success with this board or any
of the G33 chipsets where I am not going to run into
all kinds of install problems?

[fdo] Intel G35 / X3500 video tearing
I've recently set up a system built on an ASUS P5E-VM HDMI motherboard
running Ubuntu 7.10 and I'm experiencing some very noticeable tearing
during video playback with mplayer. I have read some discussion about
video tearing with other Intel chipsets in the mailing list a while
back but hadn't heard much about it lately. I've experimented with
both xv and gl video output as well

dom0 freeze on boot with Tyan 2912 w Barcelona 2347HE
Been picking brains on IRC for a few days, but we still don''t have this
one figured out.
The boot setup that I''m using on a ASUS board with a Phenom processor
works perfectly. I take that same configuration and try to boot this
Tyan/Barcelona setup and it freezes when grub (or pxe/isolinux ) passes
control to the hypervisor. http://www.gaealink.net/not-very-xen.png

Icecast and Chrome on Android
We've got an icecast server setup and one of our clients wants listeners to
click on the "Listen Live" link on their website on mobile clients to
listen to their stream. We've noticed that with Chrome on Android, the
audio plays for about 5 seconds then there's a 30-45 cutout before the
audio resumes playing. Firefox on Android and Safari on iOS don't exhibit
this issue.

1 TByte (99,5%) data missing on rsync backup???
Hi,
I have a weird problem with RSync:
On a NAS are about 1,2 TB data. When I plug in a harddisk and make a
backup with RSync, "df -h" shows the backup disk filling up to nearly 1,2
TB. But after RSync has
finished, there are only 3.7 GB on the backup disk.
System:
