pciback module not working
This issue was brought up about a year and a half ago. So I''ll bring it up again and see if anything happens. I''m working with standard CentOS 5.2 on both guest and host with their provided xen (3.0.3 ish). I''ve also attempted to install the

Unknown boot option `pciback.hide=(09:04.0)': ignoring
Good morning, I need to use pciback.hide to hide a pci card because I want to pci passthrough that card to a domU. My hardware neither supports Intel-Vt-d nor AMD's IOMMU. Unfortunately this doesn't seem to work in Centos 54 anymore. I guess it doesn't work because it is not compiled into the kernel, but as a module. I got the following error in dmesg and the pci device is still

Bug when using /dev/cciss/c0d2 as mdt/ost
I am trying to build lustre-1.6.6 against the pre-patched kernel downloaded from SUN. But as written in Operations manual, it creates rpms for 2.6.18-92.1.10.el5_lustrecustom. Is there a way to ask it not to append custom as extraversion. Running kernel is 2.6.18-92.1.10.el5_lustre.1.6.6smp. -- Regards-- Rishi Pathak National PARAM Supercomputing Facility Center for Development of Advanced

pci device not owned by pciback.
So yesterday I got was able to get a domU successfully using a PCI SCSI card. This morning I restarted the host server. When I try to start up the same domU I get this error: Error: pci: improper device assignment specified: pci: 0000:0e:04.0 must be co-assigned to the same guest with 0000:0e:04.0, but it is not owned by pciback. How do I make this card owned by pciback on reboot. Do I need to

journal has aborted
All, We are encountering spurious errors with ext3. After some period of heavy IO we may see messages similiar to: EXT3-fs error (device cciss/c0d0p5) in start_transaction: Journal has aborted When this happens the filesystem is remounted read-only. If it's the root filesystem the system becomes unresponsive and must be rebooted. An fsck on the affected filesystem shows lots of corruption.

bad I/O performance with HP Smart Array RAID
Hi all, I discovered lately that two of my XEN servers suffer from a really bad disk throughput - in domU as well as in dom0. All of them run Debian/Etch, Kernel 2.6.18-6-xen (orig. Debian) with XEN 3.2 (backported). The software versions seem to be ok for most machines: Lenovo A57 with S-ATA and (E8200, VT enabled): up to 90MB/s Shuttle, FB61 based, ATA-Disk (Celeron, no VT): up to

p2v with cciss failure
I have continued on with my attempts to get p2v working will little success. I have changed my server to Fedora 16 and finally got an XP with a single SATA disk (sda) to work. I think that this means that the current virt-p2v.iso just doesn't work with the packages that are available on Centos 6 at the moment. However, the machines that I currently need to actually migrate all have

Problem detecting HP Tape Drive
Hello I do have problem using Linux with an external HP tape drive. The server platform is also an HP Server; the server is an HP ML350 G4, and the Tape drive is a HP Storage Works Ultrium 448 - 1U Rack-mountable. CCISS driver on HP DL380 G3 ?
Hi. I am trying to boot Xen 2.0.5 on an HP DL380 G3. It won''t. The box has an "HP Smart Array 5i" that when running normal Linux is handled by the CCISS driver. I suspect that this is what is not supported in the stock Xen kernel. Am I correct that I need to build a kernel from source ? According to http://lists.xensource.com/archives/html/xen-devel/2004-11/msg00709.html there

pci passthrough under xen-3.3 without VT-d
Hi all! I''m hoping someone here might be able to help. I''m familiar with several UNIX''es, though farily new to Linux... I''m running RHEL 5.2. I''ve got the RHEL kernel headers installed, etc, and compiled xen-3.3. Once that was built, I rebuilt libvirt, etc, the kernel, and all the modules. The whole mess boots and runs fine... mostly. Cannot boot after upgrading to Centos 5.1
My local centos mirror (ftp.crc.dk) failed to boot after having upgraded from centos 5.0 to 5.1 (i386). It just displays GRUB The cursor is positioned to the right of a space after GRUB, and no input is accepted. I've tried booting in rescue mode and run: chroot /mnt/sysimage grub-install /dev/cciss/c0d0 This completes without errors, but still it can't boot. It's a HP/Compaq
