[OT] O''Reilly Cookbooks
Hi, Has anyone gotten the "roughcuts" of the Ruby and Rails cookbooks? If you have the Pragmattic Rails Cookbook is the O''Reilly worth it? Also can you download PDF''s of their "roughcuts". The website is kind of vague, it just mentions online access (whatever that means). Thanks in advance.

After changing and saving the windows host file and starting the cookbook app with Mongrel, browsing to www.mycookbook.com does not work. With Mozilla it displays ''redirecting to cookbook...'' but never loads. It is finding the index.html in the cookbook/public dir, but the redirect to

I have an app that I''ve been developing for some time with RADRails and WEBrick locally. I wanted to take it to Apache and following the following steps: 1) Downloaded and extracted InstantRails. 2) Started and tested cookbook with SCGI. Works great. 3) Copied my app over to rails_apps directory. 4) Added a virtual host to Apache identical to cookbook (just using port 9999 with

Instant Rails and your own applications
Hi, I want to make an open source rails project as easy as possible to install. Can I use Instant Rails for this? I treid to look at the FAQ but could not see this was possible. Ideally I would like to have Instant Rails install Ruby, Rails, MySql, etc and then have it add my application and add the mysql user (could be just root also) and then the sql for creating the tables. Sound like fun

How to set up different "bottles" in Wine, just like in Codeweaver's Crossover Office?
Hi all, How does one set up different "bottles" like in Crossover office? Meaning how do I isolate an installation of Program A from Program B, when running under Wine? is that possible? That's a neat feature they have in Crossover, but I can't seem to find any documentation of how to do the samething in generic WINE. Robert

WEBrick initialisation error
I am new to Ruby so I thought the best way to get into it would be to follow the ONLamp "Rolling with Ruby on Rails" intro. I followed the instructions to the letter and everything work just great, very impressive:-). A couple of days later when I went back to it I got the following message when trying to start the WEBrick server. U:\RoRProjects\cookbook>ruby script\server =>

Instant Rails 1.1
Instant Rails is a one-stop Rails runtime solution containing Ruby, Rails, Apache, and MySQL, all preconfigured and ready to run. No installer, you simply drop it into the directory of your choice and run it. It does not modify your system environment. This release of Instant Rails is for Windows, but there are plans for ports to Linux, BSD, and OSX. This release upgrades Rails to 1.1 and the

[LLVMdev] What CCAssignToXXXWithShadow means?
Hi, all On the website, it says, CCAssignToRegWithShadow <registerList, shadowList> — similar to CCAssignToReg, but with a shadow list of registers I don't know when we should use CCAssignToRegWithShadow. Because I am not a architecture expert, please bear with my naive question. Take ARMCallingConv.td as an example, CCIfType<[i32], CCIfAlign<"8",

speex 1.2beta1 encoding/decoding clicking noise on WM2003
Would it help if I scale the input wav data before encoding to spx? One interesting thing is if I encode the same wav file to spx(or decode the same spx file to wav ) on Windows platform, then there is no such big clicking noise, samething is true if I use floating_point speex library to encode/decode on WM2003. Problem happens only on WM2003 using FIXED_POINT library. Thanks Yanxin -----

Why would Webrick use 0.0.0.0:3000 instead of 127.0.0.1:3000 ?
Someone working through my Rolling with Ruby on Rails tutorial is having this problem. Does anyone know what could cause it? I pasted the text of his message below. Thanks, Curt -- Original Message -- I am using Instant Rails which comes with Rails 1.0, WEBrick 1.3.1 and Ruby 1.8.2 and I ran the WEBrick server and it starts on http://0.0.0.0:3000 and not http://127.0.0.1:3000. Instant Rails 1.4 final released (with RadRails support!)
This is the final release for Instant Rails 1.4. It corrects the two known problems with the preview1 release (two help menu items caused Instant Rails to crash). Instant Rails 1.4 contains the following major changes: * Upgrades Rails to version 1.1.6 (other components upgraded to current release, also) * SCGI has been replaced by Mongrel (using Apache''s mod_proxy for
