RE: CD-ROM problem when installing Windows server
Jason,
I found that I had to manually edit the VM config file to add
the cdrom in the Disk section. For example I added:
Disk = [ "file:/location/disk.img,had,w" ,
"file:/location/en_ws_2003_ent_sp2_vl.is,hdb:cdrom,r"]
Where /location is the directory you have the ISO image stored.
It then is able to boot and mount the CD-ROM on the 2nd boot.
Good luck,
-Peter

virt-install hell: how to *force* a local CD-ROM install?
I have a CentOS 5.6 system with a AMD Sempron(tm) Processor LE-1300
(which does not provide hardware virtualization support, so I can't use
the --cdrom option) and I am *trying* to install FC15 as a guest O/S
using a local FC15 DVD-ROM image. Everything work until the installer
*insists* on firing up the network to get the repo data, etc. I have a
*dial-up* Internet connection and this is a

Mount CD ROM iso during kickstart postinstall
CentOS 5.2 i386
I''m doing a xen virtual machine installation from a DVD iso image with a kickstart file to set network and run scripts and such in the postinstall section.
During the installation the DVD iso is listed as device /tmp/cdrom and mounted on /mnt/source. Once the installation is done and the post install starts the /tmp/cdrom

Sharing CD-ROM
Is it possible to share a cdrom via Samba? I can share the /mnt/cdrom
directory and see it from the PCs, but how does one take care of the
mount/umount commands that are needed?

[PATCH] drives: add CD-ROM disk images as read-only drives (RHBZ#563450).
The current add_cdrom way basically appends a new raw "-cdrom /path"
parameter to the qemu invocation (even when using libvirt as backend),
hence such images are seen as "CD-ROM drives" inside the appliance.
However, there is no need for such particular behaviour, as they need to
be handled as normal (read-only) drives.
Adding CD-ROM disk images as drives also changes the

CD-ROM Labels
I attempted to run Frogger under Wine, but it asked me to insert the
Frogger CD, even though it was already inserted and mounted (and the CD is
configured in wine.conf).
When this happened, Wine gave the following message:
err:cdrom:CDROM_GetLabel We don't have a way of determining the label of a
mixed mode CD - Linux doesn't allow raw access !!
Okay, so Wine could not get the label

How to burn a CD using libvirt?
Hi,
My first e-mail... my apologies if this is not the appropriate e-mail list.
My goal is to *write* from the guest OS to a CD or DVD reader/writer on
my host system. Currently, the write operation is failing. I believe
it is because the virtual CD-ROM device is set to be "readonly". Is it
possible to write to a QEMU CDROM device and, if so, how? (The host
machine's CD-ROM

How to boot a compressed CD-ROM image from disk
I'd like to take advantage of the small, compressed Linux systems
such as Knoppix or BeatrIX, but I can't have a CD rom on my system.
(A project's marketing requirement.). So I figure I could use something
like SYSLINUX or ISOLINUX to do it for me, but there is some magic
in the process (the sequence of booting) that eludes me.

syslog messages after cd-rom removal
Sorry, I know this is not really libvirt related, but I'm searching for
a solution sind about an hour and cannot find anything that helps me ...
Ok, I used to install a standard debian in a kvm instance, and removed
the virtual cd-rom after installation. Now I'm getting this triplet
every five minutes in my syslog:
