This is what I have inside a rake task. In this rake task I need to call
another rake task called email:send_messages. However I need to pass the

Plugins and the test environment
Hi guys. I''m writing a plugin for use in the test environment.
However, when I run ``rake test'''' or ``rake spec'''', RAILS_ENV is set
to "development" when my plugin''s init.rb is run.
How do you configure a plugin to load require a file in the test
environment?
Thanks,

rake spec default environment
hi,
When I run rake spec , it seems to be starting with my default
environment (development or production) and connects to that
database, before actually connecting to the test one and proceeding
with the tests. When I remove the development database, the specs
wont run. How do i initiate rspec to be test environment from the
start? I dont see this when i run using script/spec

Rails and Lighttpd, hangs?
I know this is kind of a generic question. But, when hitting my
lighttpd/rails site on some of the first hits, the site hangs. I
think it has something with the lighttpd configuration, possibly
something I am missing with rails or ruby? Any ideas or how to track
this down.

Lighttpd Conf Help - Multiple Domains Multiple Apps
Hi Guys,
I hope someone can help me out. I am trying to configure two
applications to run on lighttpd and each app will have its own domain.
My machine is running on Fedora. When I run my lighttpd with the
following conf file, I get no error but when I check out my app, it
dishes out a 404 error- the 404 being served isn''t the 404 inside the
railsapp/public folder.
Do hope someone

[ Rails ] Multiple rails apps on 1 host
Team,
I''m trying to figure out how to run 2 rails apps on one host.
I ran an experiment:
cd /tmp/
rails app1
rails app2
cd app1
script/server
rails put a copy of lighttpd.conf in
/tmp/app1/config/
and then started lighttpd
http://localhost:3000
gave me the splash page.
I shutdown the server
I added something to
/tmp/app1/config/lighttpd.conf

test:prepare failure with enum columns
Hi,
I have a MySQL database that I use with my Rails application. I
attempted to use "rake db:test:prepare" to create a test database. (Very
cool, feature, by the way.) I then get the error
rake aborted!
You have a nil object when you didn''t expect it!
You might have expected an instance of Array.
The error occured while evaluating nil.[]

Shovel Switchtower deployment
Hello,
Iam trying to use Shovel deployment as explained here
http://nubyonrails.com/pages/shovel. Iam currently using windows as my
development environment and *nix to deploy the application. I have changed
all the dispatch.* files to be executable. but when I run
rake remote_exec ACTION=setup_lighty
it asks for my password and installs lighttpd and other stuff, but
fails on task update_code.

rake migrate RAILS_ENV="production"
On the wiki it says to migrate your DB to production, you can run:
rake migrate RAILS_ENV="production"
This is taken from:
http://wiki.rubyonrails.com/rails/pages/UnderstandingMigrations
My database is set up with correct MySQL permissions granted and the
database.yml is pointing at it. I get no errors when I run it, but
equally my production database does not change at all.

fastcgi on apache
Running on Fedora Core
I have been playing with some of the tutorials and one of them had me
install lighttpd and lighttpd-fastcgi and that was much faster than
apache seems to be.
How do I get fastcgi stuff to work on apache...
I have this setup for my tutorial environment in httpd.conf

Configs not loading
Hi,
So in the past I''ve developed using Apache 2.0 MacOSX. I''ve just started a
new project and decided to switch over to LightTPD just to try it out. This
development is purely a learning endevor for me, so I welcome the idea of
stepping into new territory. As a result, I''m not sure if this is a
lighttpd problem or a Rails one. So pardon me if this is off topic to

rake migrate the first time - uses more than schema_info?
All,
I have two migration files, file 1 and file 2.
For reasons that I don''t want to go into unless I must, I want to only
run file 2 on my production database (file 1 contains a bunch of table
creation stuff for already existing tables).
I figured if I created a schema_info table and set the version in it to
1, then I could just run rake db:migrate RAILS_ENV=production and just

hosting multiple rails apps in one webroot?
It''s actually REALLY easy with lighttpd on linux.
Two apps...
Myserver.com/code/ => /apps/code/
Myserver.com/test/ +> /apps/test/
Each application needs this in the environment.rb
/apps/code/config/environment.rb
ActionController::AbstractRequest.relative_url_root = "/code"
/apps/test/config/environment.rb
ActionController::AbstractRequest.relative_url_root

hey everyone. i know somebody else had started a thread on this subject,
but since no one seems to be answering that thread i thought i would
start one of my one.
i''m doing a project for a client and we need some seriously verbose
logging. it looks like log4r can do what i need, but i can''t for the
life of me figure out how to plug it into rails. everywhere talks about
