Xen : Time issues
Hi everyone,
I''m working in a firm that monitor wan networks.
We have several nagios installed on virtual machines.
Recently we noticed that the DomU''s clocks are not synced with the Dom0 and the
clocks are wrong.
So we tried to sync DomU''s via openntpd but it generates errors in nagios. Logs
indicate "Time goes back".
So we want to sync DomU with Dom0 and

Problems installing guest domains
Hi,
I am trying out Xen for the first time and I am having a few problems
with getting it working. The computer is a quad core Intel Xeon with VT
enabled, 8gb of RAM and 2 x 15,000rpm SAS drives in RAID1.
I have installed CentOS 5 64bit and installed Xen 3.3.0 via yum. I have
successfully booted in to dom0. Here is my grub.conf on dom0:

network problems
So, I have been running into network problems for a while on 4 boxes
that I installed xen on so that some engineers have places to test code.
This particular problem is happening on all 4 of these boxes. (although,
it isn''t happening on an older box running xen from debian etch).
What appears to be the problem is that traffic is getting dropped
between the vif#.0 interface in dom0

Hi Everyone,
For all the folk here on this list that offer VPS hosting, do you guys
just give a VPS to a customer in a non-firewalled state?

Best way to use iSCSI in domU
Hello,
We need to use iSCSI in some of our domUs. By the moment, iSCSI is not
for system filesystem, but for data filesystem.
I am wondering what is the best way to use it. Is it better to
configure it in dom0 and then attach the device to the domU? Or is it
better to configure it directly in the domU?
I am thinking that if we configure it in the dom0, then we can''t share
that iscsi

Display of results
Dear R-helpers,
I have been trying to carry out some variance ratio tests such as
Lo-MacKinlay test and Chow-Denning test. However, When I write the
function LM <- Lo.Mac(y,kvec)
or any other functions I don’t get the results displayed. The only
sign I get is <
I don’t understand what’s wrong (is it the package, misspecification
of the function, Vista). I am really stuck in and I would be

Xen guests clock is exactly 2 hours before dom0 time
Hi list,
one and hopefully last strange thing I figured out ist the systime of
my guests.
Dom0 uses ntp for time syncronisation. I set the time on my guests
manually but after reboot any machine (Windows server, XP, Freebsd,
even PV Machines like ubuntu) all run local time - 2 hours.
/proc/sys/xen/independent_wallclock is set to 0 so actually the time
should be set by dom0...(?)

Add independent interface from domU to internal bridge?
Hi,
I have what I believe is an elementary problem, but I haven''t yet
figured out the solution.
Within my domU host, I have a bridge named "net1". There is no routing
performed between the real LAN and this bridge, intentionally. I have a
virtual machine that connects to the bridge. It seems to work fine, (in
fact I have several and I can bring them all up and they can

variance ratio tests
Hello
I am a new user of R software. I benefit from using vrtest-package. However, the codes provided by the aforementioned package, for example, calculate the test statistics for Lo and Mackinlay (1988) under the assumptions of homoscedasticity and heteroscedasticity without computing the value of the variance ratio itself.
I would be grateful if you could instruct me how to calculate the

Slow write times to gluster disk
Hi,
We noticed a dramatic slowness when writing to a gluster disk when
compared to writing to an NFS disk. Specifically when using dd (data
duplicator) to write a 4.3 GB file of zeros:
* on NFS disk (/home): 9.5 Gb/s
* on gluster disk (/gdata): 508 Mb/s
The gluser disk is 2 bricks joined together, no replication or anything
else. The hardware is (literally) the same:
* one server with

What are your bottomneck in using Xen solution?
Hello,
Given that nowadays standard Dual Quad Core server is such popular,
with Dual GB Ethernet, bundles of high capacity of SATA disks running
as RAID 10.
What are the factors that prevent you from installing additional VM on
an existing server?
e.g.
1. CPU
2. Memory
3. Disk I/O
4. Network
5. Else?

how to enable VT
Hi,
I have a Dell opt 755 machine and installed Xen 3.3.1. The CPU is core
2 due E6550, which as the vmx flag. However, when I reboot the machine
to xen 3.3.1. I can not find vmx in the /proc/cpuinfo. But vms appears
in the kernel 2.6.29 (not xen kernel).
Can anyone help on how to enable vt in this machine?
Thanks.

attempt to access beyond end of device and livelock
Hi Dongyang, Yan,
When testing BTRFS with RAID 0 metadata on linux-3.3, we see discard
ranges exceeding the end of the block device [1], potentially causing
dataloss; when this occurs, filesystem writeback becomes catatonic due
to continual resubmission.
The reproducer is quite simple [2]. Hope this proves useful...
Thanks,
Daniel

Xen DomU with high IOWAIT and low disk performance (lvm raid1)
Hello list!
My setup:
Dom0: Debain 5.0.3 with xen-hypervisor-3.2-1-i386 (2.6.26-2-xen-686)
DomU: Ubuntu 8.04 2.6.26-2-xen-686
System is running on two hard drives mirrored with raid1 and organized
by LVM. Dom0 and DomU are running on logical volumes.
Partitions for DomUs are connected via ''phy:/dev/lvm/disk1,sda1,w'' for
example.
Here are some scenarios I testet, where you
