Re: Dell Poweredge 2650 - heavy IO hangs domU machine s; xen 2.0.7, xen kernel 2.6.11.12
The issues I''ve had with PE2650 and Linux in general all related to a lack
of IRQ''s. I had to disable all non-essential devices in the BIOS (lpt, usb
and com). It seems the BIOS on that server still has legacy IRQ issues (<
IRQ15). In my xenU''s I also renamed /etc/sysconf/hwconf so it would''nt try
to init any hardware devices directly.
Maybe these options

Dell Poweredge 4300 + PARC 2 (Megaraid) Centos 4
After 4 days of agrevation I felt it was best I post to the list
before I break something or hurt myself. It seems that 2.6 from other
posts seemed to kill support for this card in particular since LSI has
EOL'd it. Although I've managed to download megaraid-2.00.3 which does
support this card and build an object on a sperate box. Although the
installer seems to require a driver disk and

[HOWTO] Update megaraid_sas driver in Linux 2.6.32.x to make it boot and work with Dell/LSI RAID adapters
Hello,
I noticed the default megaraid_sas driver version in upstream Linux 2.6.32.25
is pretty old, version 4.01, and it seems to be very buggy.
It fails to bring up disks and boot fails.
Many people have reported this issue on various hardware using LSI RAID adapters,
and on various Dell servers (R310/R410/R510/R710) using Dell PERC H700 RAID adapters
(which are rebranded LSI adapters).

I/O performance problems on Dell 1850 w/ PERC 4e/Si RAID1 (Sol 10U6)
I''ve got Solaris 10 U6 with a ZFS boot/root installed on a Dell 1850 here, patched up as of this morning (kernel 141415-10). The system is running with hardware-mirrored disks, via the LSI MegaRAID controller, a PERC 4e/Si. 4G of RAM, one dual-core 3.4GHz CPU.
The system is a simple mail hub, and it does the task very well. Most files exist only very briefly, and thus rarely touch the

poweredge 1850 won't boot 7.1? maybe LSI-related : amr0: adapter is busy
Hello,
This afternoon I wanted to upgrade to 7.1 two good old dell PowerEdge
servers which were running FreeBSD 6.x. It went fine and quickly on the
poweredge 1950, but it failed completely on the poweredge 1850.
Facts:
- boot cd and setup / operation of freebsd 6.x or 7.0 is fine

HVM domU doesnt start
Hello!
I''ve a ubuntu server running over a HVM DomU. After a hang, the domU doesn''t
start again.
The domU was not able to mount the virtual machine disk so I started with a
live cd and I tried to mount the disk root part / with no success so I ran
fsck.ext3 and it gave me input/output error in the domU and in dom0 the

trying to install xen on dell poweredge 2900 with RedHat ES 4 (64bit)
Hi,
This is the env.
Dell Poweredge 2900
Redhat ES 4 ( 64 bit )
I installed the rpm''s
# rpm -ivh xen-3.0.3.0-1.*.rpm
# rpm -ivh kernel-xen-2.6.16.29-3.0.3.0.*.rpm
And changed grub.
But when I reboot, It hangs on "scrubbing free RAM".
What are my option to fix this and get xen working?

Xen on Dell PowerEdge 1850 with Perc 4e/Si controller
Hello,
I am having issues making my box boot with Xen. I am
working with linux-2.6.16.28-xen on a gentoo box. The
server is Dell PowerEdge 1850 with Perc 4e/Si, FW
521X. When dom0 reaches the point of scanning the SCSI
controllers, it hangs in a loop
aic7xxx_dev_reset_returns 0x2002. My regular (non-xen)
kernels come up fine with detecting my adaptec scsi
controller.
Had anyone had the same

Drives Not Recognized on Dell Poweredge 1550 CentOs4 install
I have a new (used)Dell Poweredge 1550 server with 2 scsi drives (dual 1ghz
w/ 2048MB) that I'm attempting to install CentOs 4 onto and am having
problems getting the darn thing to recognize the hard drives. (it's worth
noting that it's running RAID 0 and the RAID bios recognizes both drives as
being in "optimal" state). I start the installation process and all is

CentOS4 and older megaraid
Release notes say no support for the RAID card in a box I just picked
up...is there no hope for this box running 2.6 kernel?
http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/enterprise/RHEL-4-Manual/release-
notes/as-x86/
The kernel shipped with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 includes the new
megaraid_mbox driver from LSI Logic, which replaces the megaraid driver.
The megaraid_mbox driver has an improved design,

Running Asterisk on a Dell PowerEdge 2850 ServerRe: Dell Hardware
It's Digium, not Dell.
I have two identical Dell 1850s, each with the allegedly offensive built-in E100 Ethernet ports. I placed a TE410P card in each. One worked great, the other would not modprobe. Upon examination, we discovered that the two TE410P cards had different firmware revisions. Turns out the one with the older version was the one that worked. We sent the second card back

CentOS 4.4 Installation on Dell poweredge 2900 raid 1 + raid 5 fail
Hi All,
I install CentOS 4.4 without additional driver disk.
When I partition the disk, I create nothing on the raid 5, and I just create
" / " " /boot " and "swap" on the raid 1.
And it works.
When I create a mount point /storage on the raid 5 and create " / " " /boot
" and "swap" on the raid 1.
The error comes again, saying that
